what is "the lap"? Don't get this.
To get ahead of (an opponent) in a race by one or more complete circuits of the course. Michael took 3 laps, and the best were recorded to be 1:42:8. I hope this helps. I had to look it up first, so I could give you the correct explanation. English is not my first language.

How many time s do they go around the track, all day to practice or two laps warm up and the third lap is the actual fastest lap you can do.

1) there's no such thing as a British accent. English, Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish accents are the accents of Britain with each one having different dialects.
2) He's Irish, not american, not from any of the British countries, just the Republic of Ireland.
