    I had one attempt to replace a cracked rear fog light lens and failed because I couldn't reach the far screw. Loosening the bumper gave much better access. It was still difficult to get a screwdriver on the screw but I used an Erbauer angled bit holder attached to an electric screwdriver and job done! Thanks so much for posting this.

    Slightly fiddly, but you can do it with the bumper in place by using an allen key to undo the inner bolt, even though it's not an allen key head. Awkward to do, but saves dislodging the mud flap and bumper.

    Does the bumper just pull out of the bracket once the 8mm and t20 are removed?

    • @ALLTHINGSJIM
      @ALLTHINGSJIM  Před 5 lety +1

      Yes its held in by some clips so give it a small tug and it should pop out 👍

    • @MHBGT
      @MHBGT Před 5 lety +1

      @@ALLTHINGSJIM Tried it earlier. Used a pry tool, just to be careful not to break any clips.
      There is also a plastic fastener (2-in-1 type type), on my Fiesta ST 2013, which needs to be removed (under the bumper, one on each side).

    • @HiteOz
      @HiteOz Před 2 lety +1

      The bumper doesn't pull off easily, we need to be careful not breaking the clips while pulling it off. I think there's no specific advice to do it with 100% chance o breaking any clips...

    • @mcullen557
      @mcullen557 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@HiteOzcorrect about being careful, i noticed there was 5 clips in total along the side. I was able to use an old soft edged flathead driver to gently wedge in and nudge the plastic bumper out enough (2mm) so i could locate each clip which i then popped out one by one.

    • @ALLTHINGSJIM
      @ALLTHINGSJIM  Před 6 lety +2

      Rob Evans not really ive tried before and you just end up struggling alot more than just popping that side of the bumper off

    Thanks but how did you join the bumper bracket to the metal pannel? New pop rivets? I been searching for the answer to this online for years. Nobody anywhere can tell me anything in person.

    • @ALLTHINGSJIM
      @ALLTHINGSJIM  Před 4 lety

      Yes with new pop rivets, you need fairly large headed ones, the old ones get drilled out to remove the old brackets 👍

      @@ALLTHINGSJIM 4.8mm diameter is the largest readily available size, but this is NOT big enough. The holes in the wing (and the bumper bracket) are about 6.5mm so you will need to source 6.4mm diameter rivets. It is a tight fit. The Ford spec is for a 6.4mm diameter, and (approx) 2mm - 5mm grip length, I think, they sell packs of 10 and are pricey compared to buying independently in singles. I managed to get 12mm length x 6.4mm dia rivets from my local specialist, and they did the job. You will need a very meaty rivet gun with lots of leverage, and tape the wing heavily to protect it from getting bashed by the rivet gun when the rivet shaft snaps
