I dont think it bothers him because he is a guy and she is a girl. Is about him feeling useless. He couldn't do anything about Robin. Starlight is strong, but not Homelander Strong, so even though she is a strong hero, she can still die any minute, and once again, he would be useless again and lose more people he loves.

About pushing Ryan away. Hughie explains why he understands him.
About drugging MM. I don't think MM would've agreed to team-up with Solider boy no matter what. They know that Solider boy can be contained (because the Russians have been doing it for 30 years). But they don't know how to contain Homelander so this is the only way to take him down.
It's pretty evident that he cares about the people in his team.
Sure, he can be nicer and stuff, but that's not his character. He knows he's the asshole and he's willingly doing it.

Annie should have been more thoughtfull about Hughie's feelings tho.. Like in a relationships you should care about how your significant other feels. If "she doesn't need that" then she is good but your significant other needs something then you help him out with it.
Ofc it's Hughie's fault for lying to Annie at the beginning of their relationship that the whole "her always saving him" thing doesn't bother him at all but once you are deep in a relationship you should care about how your partner feels and not just gaslight yourself into thinking that "I"m just right, i don't care if you have these feelings in you, i don't need them, either accept it or leave".

I don’t think the Hugie/Starlight situation has anything to do with gender, and it has everything to do with Supe vs Non-Supe. The reason temp V exists is so that non-supes can level the playing field. The reason that is necessary is because there is nothing that someone with no powers can do against someone like Homelander. Hughie literally says this when he’s talking to Butcher. Even when it’s him, butcher, and MM he talks about how without powers he’s too weak to do anything and will likely end up dead. He just wants to not be powerless

One thing I have noticed is that your volume for the shows you react to are so low that in order to hear anything I have to put my face like 4 inches away from my laptop monitor (my volume is all the way up) and I still can't understand what they are saying, now I know that you have the close caption on but when I am trying to keep up with the words I can not watch your facial reactions to what is going on, it is like 15% of reaction channels on youtube do this, I don't know if they do this thinking it helps them from getting their reactions blocked or what but the other 85% does not have this issue. I have subscribed to your channel here cause I love your reactions, but it makes it harder to enjoy if I have to constantly keep going back to see what was said or how one or all of you reacted to what I just missed.

Yes exactly. Hughie got a lot of unwarranted shit, both in the show and in reactions. He's been fighting an uphill battle his entire life (we saw that he mentioned bullies in his childhood) and just when he thought he was making a difference, he finds out it had been for nothing. He has been under Vought's thumb the entire time and working for a Supe which would be devastating by itself but then Homelander used him to get to Annie. How could that not cause anyone to feel useless and desire some form of change or power? I kind of found it ridiculous that he was basically seen as the "bad guy" this season because he wanted to make a difference and save the girl he loves from danger. Which, if we recall, she kind of put herself in when becoming co-captain, Hughie even said how bad of an idea it was. But I guess people chose to forget that part.

The sad thing with Hughie is that he actually was super helpful throughout the whole show, just as a regular old human. Hell, even Annie's biggest feat for him was just her being there when he needed her the most, not because of her powers. They all have their different complementing strengths within the team, the Spice Girls.

Hughie's situation is interesting because yeah I def feel him being emasculated is part of it, but to me it feels a little more that for his whole life he's been a pushover and never really stood up for himself, and even when he's in the boys, Butcher, MM, Kimiko and even Frenchie all defend themselves better than he can. Especially Butcher, who he's like a brother to, has that on him. So i can understand him wanting to look out for and protect Starlight, and wanting to save her so he can feel useful.

I think Hughie is a huge douche but I can somewhat understand his perspective. Imagine having a partner who at any moment, any second, could be killed OR worse by Homelander. I think it'd be enough make most people worry. Again though, Hughie isn't going about expressing that concern in a way that's healthy or emotionally mature. Instead of talking through this problem with Annie, he goes ahead and uses a highly experimental drug so he can feel 'equal' to Starlight, or less emasculated. It's childish behaviour at best, and incredibly toxic at worse.
Which is very in character for Hughie, he has been noted to be a bit immature, partially due to his emotionally stunted upbringing. This is a natural evolution considering his helplessness and immaturity, especially after losing a lot of faith in himself after realizing he has spent more than year doing nothing but helping Vought, the company he hates. He trusted the good nature the Boys valued him for and it resulted in nothing. He then goes to the only thing he has seen work, Butcher's way, without the nuance that him keeping Butcher in check is part of why they worked as a cohesive unit rather than fall apart from their worst traits becoming unhibited, as seen with the Boys parting ways here.
Tldr; it is frustratingly logical that Hughie would run into these issues after the inciting incidents this season

Now that he's lost his better judgement, there really isn't anything to keep the group as a functional squad. That's an insanely good analysis, kudos to you for that one.

@@pinklefoo because in the past,he never really had to stand up for himself,like he was bullied by butcher a lot in the past seasons,when homelander confronted hughie and when hughie finally stood up to him, homelander was surprised,and then Annie threatened to leave the 7 if he killed hughie,that was the moment hughie found out what he's worth,like it's pretty understandable and I'm not against hughie in any way because it I was in his place,I would be exactly the same.Also,hughie has been through so much more shit as compared to starlight in the 3 seasons,so I really didn't like when starlight said"this is you",like she's not seeing it from his perspective,and that's why I don't agree with people who side with starlight on this one,like starlight literally wanted a weapon that could kill my boy Homelander for good and when that weapon turned out to be soldier boy,she was like hell no,I was like "tf!!",and also when hughie told her not to take the position of co captain of the seven she declined and then immediately regretted it and then she was mad at hughie for telling her to wait it out until they get the weapon,and I was like "are you fucking serious?!!",so yeah I really didn't like the character arc of starlight this season.

I think you all are right on that front, I understand where both of them are coming from, but I have to side more with Annie on this one. She isn't the type of lady to out down her guy or anybody for being 'weaker' than her. But I do totally understand how Hughie feels. I mean look how Maeve talks to the kid😅😅. And I agree Sam, it adds nothing to the overall story and if anything it takes away from it, it just melodrama that's not needed. Also totally right about Butcher, he is just shitty on all notes.

This episode for me was a disappointment, at least what they thought was outrageous. The fight scene, and the scene with Atrain was awesome, but the set up for herogasm was underwhelming and poorly written, and the actual scenes weren't as obscene as they thought.
the most disappointing episode is the last episode where the logic of the characters' behavior is completely absent
I don't understand why they get confused about some things but I'm so proud of them for understanding why Hughie is in the wrong in this episode. So many people trashed Annie and thought it was unfair, and didn't even realize they were missing the entire theme of what masculinity is and why Hughie's obsession with being "strong" was dangerous.

i love react pack, but i just kinda disagree with their take on hughie situations. feeling helpless is not a gender thing, is not as simple as hughie being emasculated. all his life he is completely hopeless and weak, unable to be strong enough to save others (robin). when he decided to do the right thing by working with neuman (dealing with supes legally, he found out Neuman is supe too. this whole thing with temp v is basically his only chance of 'leveling the playing field', where he could actually 'stopped' being weak and fight back. idk just a penny for a thought
