As a trail and ultra runner who used to wear Grit X Pro under heavy load for almost 2 years, this is a confirmation that I made the right choice moving away from Polar before waiting for the Grit X2 Pro to come out. I can be at peace with a smile on my face. Firstly, it looks like a Garmin flagship watches, and IMO, the Grit X Pro, especially the Titanium version looked better. At least it was different. The Silicon strap looks the same as it was for the Grit X Pro and it was heavy and felt behind the competitor's straps. If it's the same then- meh. And the back of the watch is still made out of plastic? Suunto Vertical has a steel or titanium back with an HR sensor built in it and there's so little plastic in the watch which for me, makes it feel like a premium product and you see and feel what you paid for. I'm saying that because of the price which is, yea.. No need to even go there. I moved back to Suunto, mainly because of the simplicity, design, premium looks, and durability even if Garmin is probably the best brand out there with many models to choose from. I was a Suunto user for 7 years, then got tired of the brand fell behind the competition, and moved to Polar which was a disappointing experience, including the customer support. Tried Garmin for 1 month, including a 100mi race and experience, performance was amazing but I just didn't like the complexity of their ecosystem and I'm simply not a fan of the design as I have to wear the watch every day. Thankfully, Suunto had stepped up with their watches and I moved back and bought the Suunto Vertical Titanium over Race model because of the exceptional battery life that AMOLED displays can't provide and the design that felt more outdoorsy and more rugged yet very simple and sleek. I'm super happy with my decision and I feel like I could live with Suunto Vertical for years. It ticks every box for an ultra runner that goes out for long and adventurous days. And there are so many beautiful, light, and breathable straps to choose from.
Went too deep into my comment but maybe it will help someone to choose their next watch better as they are not a cheap peace of equipment to buy. :)

I bought a new Polar Grit X Pro Titanium for my birthday that was on 17th march and i made the best movement! Has the best size, design, ergonomy, best sensor because is a Precission Prime(not the new sensor) and the phone creates everything in it perfectly.....The new watch is a panel on the hand and who wants an amoled on such a small device? I wear it in hardest gym conditions with tpe protection and wristband over and is from far the best partner....And outside i walked in rain and snow and is from far the best smartwatch for hard working guys for wellness and sports.......Is far from being outdated Polar Grit X Pro, exactly how a Polar expert wrote me on my facebook messenger when i asked this....I love this amazing watch from all the points of view from far❤

Love my Grit X Pro Titan- the old design is much more cooler from the design, except maybe the new wristband which is quite nice but not my color. How you want explain to an old costumer to go for the new Grit X2 Titan for crazy 869,90? The new Display? Some new sweet features? The old display is great and I have no problems in daylight, where I normally train. I use my mobile phone to navigate if I really need navigation and the old model also tracks the way and data very well. So where is extra value I get when I buy the new model? A lot of Polar lovers will stay with the older models and some other people will buy the older model "in sale" like the Polar Grit X Pro Titan for 390.- Euro- a beauty! Greets to the CEO of Polar. ;)

I used it in the hardest gym conditions with tpe protection and wristband over it and is the best buddy....Is like the Casio G Shock GA100 that is way better than mudmasters because is more simple and more compact..Is same ecuation...I'll keep mine and is brand new!

Although I was waiting for the new version of Grit X, I couldn't resist and bought the Apple Watch Ultra 2 recently. After this announcement, I am considering returning to Polar with the new Grit X2. As a long-time Polar user (RS800CX, V800, Grit X), I am accustomed to the simplicity of the Polar interface. Regarding the price vs. features, the fewer yet more focused features make the user happier. Personal taste and preference play a role when making a choice. Yes, I am biased toward Polar. Regarding the weight, as mentioned in some other comments, there is a Vantage V3 for those looking for a lightweight version. This is an adventure watch. It is supposed to be used abusively. It is supposed to give a rugged feeling. Maybe that's why the base version uses the steel case, not the aluminum one. Regarding the steep price of the Titan version, it looks more like a way for the owner to express the status than to buy the count of features. Something similar is observable with other watches, like the classical ones, which have just a few features like the time of day and date (which has to be adjusted once a month), yet are still quite expensive. I agree with Polar's bet that the price/feature ratio might not be the most important one for some buyers, as that is not a rational decision anyway, whether it is this or another brand like with the AWU2. Aside from that, when wearing the Grit X, it was not rare that I was asked about the model of the watch, which clearly looked distinctive compared to the masses by its look, not features. Nobody is asking such questions now when I have AWU. I guess no Garmin user gets asked, either. If given a chance, I would swap my fresh AWU2 for the Titan. Still have to agree that need to wait for that firmware update first. :)

I recon because they're not as big as Garmin, they have to pay more for parts so in order to make at least some kind of profit they need to bump up the price. Polar is a lot smaller a company than something like Garmin for example. People were yearning for more features like the Garmin watches have. Now we got them but unfortunately they come with a heavy price.

Polar does the mid-priced or budget running and tri watches really well, the pacer and pacer pro are great values. Garmin has way more features, but imo most of them aren't something most people would actually want to pay for and their cheaper watches have less important features than the pacer pro. Suunto does ultrarunning best out of the three imo. Coros is also a consideration especially for a mid priced running watch or ultrarunning watch.

I have both the old Polar Grit X and Garmin fenix 7. IMO Polar has much better sleep tracking, nicer/simpler UI and reports and the basics work well. Polar can track different swim styles which the fenix can't do, at least out of the box. Garmin has in general waay better features and a lots more stuff, better gps accuracy and, for me, about the same hr accuracy. Garmin has IMO better recovery tools. I own a polar grit x pro and it's disappointing to know that these software/firmware upgrades are not coming to older generation of watches. companies like polar ditching their products just couple of years after they are released is super annoying. Garmin is way better in this regard

Strava thing shouldnt even be mentioned if its locked behind a paywall. I bought a watch, and now i want to use a feature of the watch but now i have to pay montly fee to use it.. aint gonna happen. With that price they should give a two year strava subscription also.

No thanks, I’ll stick with Garmin and wait for the Fenix 8.

No sane person would pay that amount of money for this device. I would think twice to buy a Polar watch over a Garmin even at Us.400 price point

I love Polar but they are both falling behind the times and their sales guy needs to be fired. Moved to the Forerunner 965 until they get it together again
