- This year, we decided to finish our basement into a 2-bedroom apartment in order to get a little extra income from a space that we weren't currently using.

How did you run the plumbing? Did you tie into main sewer drain or use a sewage pump? Ty
We roughed in most of the plumbing when we built the house. The basement has a sewage ejector pit since it’s lower than the municipal sewer line. I had to break up some cement to add a drain for the washing machine.
please what was the total cost for this
I have a rough in for a full bath but how would I make a kitchen work if no plumbing?
You would have to break the cement in order to add the necessary drains.
What did you use for the flooring under layment and finish flooring?
I used a dimpled underlayment that is specifically designed for basements. The dimples allow air flow under the flooring to prevent potential issues from moisture. For the flooring, we used vinyl plank flooring.
What is the sqft and does that fireplace heat it well?
The entire apartment is approximately 1,000 sq. ft. The fireplace helps to heat the room it's in but not much beyond that. The house has a gas furnace, which keeps everything properly heated.
What was the full cost and sqft of this Reno? We have a 1700sqft unfinished basement with rough in for a full bath already.
It cost us approximately $35 Canadian per square foot. Keeping in mind that we did all of the work ourselves (minus the installation of the fireplace and the carpet).
@@HivetoHome right. I'm pregnant and have twin 2 year olds so it may take me a long time but I want to do it all myself
What was the square footage of the space?
How much you think it would cost me to do my open basement like that
It’s difficult to guess. We finished out a couple of years ago, so the price of materials has increased since then. Also depends on the size of the basement and the type of finishes you choose. Our basement cost is approximately $50K to finish while doing all of the work ourselves.
How long did it take you to complete this basement renovation
We did it in 3 months.
@@HivetoHomeI thought you were going to say, 3:55.
What is the area in Canada? Thanks.
We’re in Ontario.
@@HivetoHome Thanks for your professional video.
Omg no sill plate on the framing that meets the concrete floor. Yikes.
There’s a vapour barrier in between every bottom plate and the cement floor. Thanks for watching!
How much cost to build this basement!
Approximately $45K CAD.
What is cad?
Canadian dollars.
@@HivetoHome u live in Canada 🇨🇦
@@HivetoHome did you do alot of the work yourself or did you hire alot for the majority of it
