Whitey Herzog is one of the greats! Love listening to him talk baseball. I miss these type of managers. Sabermetrics has ruined MLB.
This was the first Cardinals manager that I knew as 10yr old. Always loved the way he managed his teams and brought a winning culture & attitude to St. Louis. He and his players are the reason I'm a fan of this game!

Whitey was the man, and still is! Mo and DeWitt should consult Whitey's opinion on any/all trades, his ability to assess talent has always been spot on!

Whitey is stating the obvious but damn he's right on. The offense can only do so much. The pitching either needs to step up or get out. Since the break they are showing signs of life.

I read Whitey's book, The White Rat and this season reminds me of the 1986 season the Whitey wrote about.
Whitey has it on point; we're privileged to be 636/314 fans, we're spoiled and we all know it; don't dump the ship just because we're kinda struggling
And Mo fired the best manager (in my lifetime) we've had other than Whitey and Tony, and Ive been a fan since Johnny Keane was the manager
I've been following the Red Birds since Solly Hemus was the skipper. That's a lot of baseball. So many stories I could join in on, for instance the LONGINES CLOCK that use to hang above the right field stands at Sportsmans Park, and why it displayed LONG for the better part of a season. So many memories, both good and not so good.

The real puzzle is why is Whitey, Dewitts right arm. He is and has always been the smartest baseball man in St Louis since 1980. I think he is right on, Wish they had asked him about Edman and the outfield.

The Cards ownership only cares about CASH. They refuse to provide extra security downtown for games. So I refuse to go to them. Fairly simple math.
Ballpark village is pretty safe during cardinals games. Not so much during other times
@@johngoldsworthy7135 You are always safe in a herd, except for the folks on the outer fringes, which is why I mentioned that the organization seems to care more about ticket sales than safety, in refusing to provide extra security out in the parking areas.
