I loved it when you mentioned "head swaps" while the Spartan was holding a freshly swapped head!

Leonidas was an old man by the time of the 300 fame he was aged around 60 and was made commander because of the Spartans experience so your command group show him as a younger man who watched the back of his chosen older warrior. The actual truth isn't as the movies show as a child sould be trained by an experienced warrior as a lover. Great figures i like the ancient armies by that company! Six thousand greeks stood together in the real time of 300 who covered the regreat of many others only with them remained in their low hundreds but it may have been more greeks all on foot ! You'd need a team to paint that many greeks and good luck who ever wants to paint Persians! 😊🙊🙉🙈

The Athenians look is nice! Personally, since the Athenians are not as regimented as the Spartans, I might have gone with different shades of blue tunics. Maybe even a few that are white with maybe blue trim on the edges. Spartans I would do 'cookie cutter' as much as possible of course.
Are you going to leave the Athenian's shields bare or will you use decals or even paint them to mix them up some? I could really see painting the commander's shield a light blue (except for the edge) and using a second black trireme decal on it, though the glimpse I saw of the pack looked like you only have pairs of stickers in black and white. So if that is the case and all you have left is the white one, I could see a nice dark blue shield and then maybe even a nice dark blue cloak on the commander to tie it together. I could even see doing something like white and black 'checkers' on the edge of the shield just like with how the box art did the crests of the helmets. Just depends on how steady of a hand you have and how small you want to go. Like, I could see 3-5 per quarter of the shield. Heck, maybe even just paint the edge white/light blue to match the armor. Another option if you like the idea of painting the commander's shield and you just want to stick with the light blue, maybe use the black 'eyes' decals since they match the 'eyes' from the Trireme. I just think that will help the commander stand out besides just the helmet. Heck, I would even consider checkering the crest on the helm while leaving the Spartans all black.
Will you use some of the shield 'skirts' on the mercenaries?
Your thoughts on this? I mean, end of the day it is your stuff, do what you want. I just want to toss some ideas at you that I think might work.

Hi thanks for the comment and I’m glad you like what I’m doing. Any feedback is always welcome here.
You got some great ideas some of which I have already considered such as the blue cape for the Athenian commander which I will be adding at a later date.
Different shades of blues for the tunics is something I will definitely think about and does make sense. As far as the decals I’m still a bit undecided on having the shields blank or not but if I do they will be black decals but maybe a different coloured shield and decal for the commander like you suggested.
The mercenary portion of my army will definitely be the most varied unit of my army with all the bells and whistles that come with all the sets I currently have. decals, checkered patterns etc
Further down the line I will add archers, slingers and even some light cavalry.
I have lots of future plans and ideas for this army but it will take sometime to come together.
Again thank you for very much for the ideas and support. Much appreciated!

Thanks! I was tempted to start a Roman army as they do look nice but decided on the Greeks in the end. What game system do you use your Victrix models in?

@deleonfrancis60 thanks for the info. Someone also suggested mortal gods as well. I will be looking into different game systems eventually but at the moment I just won’t to focus on building and painting.

So I use retributor armour first and apply two thin coats of it followed by reikland fleshshade. You could take it further and highlight with retributor armour again and then liberator gold however I I didn’t want it to appear too gold as I’m going for the brassy look.
