And let’s not forget that Matt had been fired BEFORE this BECAUSE of this, so it’s not like Vince was dying to keep him adorbs but a shoot would’ve been the breaking point. Matt would’ve gone on to work somewhere else; the vast majority of the boys in the back would’ve understood and even respected him for taking his shots; and probably a couple years down the line, he’d have been hired back. So when you screw someone over and then have to work with them, you have to trust them to not only do their job, but to resist temptation. In any given match there are dozens of opportunities to shorten or even end someone's career and play it off as an honest mistake.

Edge's last sentence was prophetic seeing as how he just injured himself divine off of a cage.

I was lucky enough to see that show live! Edge/Hardy in the cage was by far the best match I've ever watched in person.
I also added to my dislike for Hulk Hogan during Unforgiven 05. If the best of 3 between him and Michaels had gone through, I would have got to see them wrestle, with Shawn winning. I've never liked Hogan, but I did want to see him live, something I never got to do.

The fact they still trusted each other to not hurt each other sez a lot about just how good they were. Especially mat. Could have done a lot of damage and simply said oppsy

I started watching matt hardy in 2009 and I wondered "why are his legs so weird?" Then I watched the cage match and I thought "oh that's why" 💀

WOW, Matt is now probably 3 inches shorter after compressing his spinal cord with that leg drop.

This aged like fine wine. My tibia hurts as he describes the fact it’s a lot worse on the one doing the move.
