JUST had Blanton’s for the first time last week at a bar. I don’t fully trust a single session of anything whisky, but I didn’t find anything in the glass that made it stand out from other good bourbons.
I’d say it’s worth the $60 msrp, but there are other bourbons that cost less that I enjoy about as much. Won’t have to be curious about Blanton’s anymore at least.

I'm right there with you. It's a good bourbon at $60 msrp, but it's far from the best bourbon in that price category, and not worth $100+ at all.

I've tried various versions of Blanton's over the years and agree that (like Johnnie Walker Blue Label) it would be fine... at one third of the price! I once did a swap where I arranged for a Blanton's Straight From The Barrel to be delivered to someone I knew online and he arranged for an Elmer T. Lee to be delivered to me and we each thought we had done best out of the deal. I will never buy a Blanton's for myself, but I might overpay to replace the ETL when it runs out...

I've never had Blanton's but I have had Woodford Reserve and I wonder if they might be of a similar genre. WR is the official bourbon of the Kentucky Derby and it tastes okay. It's pleasant as a nice aunt, and I think it probably has no enemies. I wonder if Blanton's, minus the marketing, the hand grenade bottle and the little horse doo-hickey, is sort of the same. The great contribution of Stuff & Whiskey to my life has been to abolish any trace of whiskey envy in me. There is so much delish stuff out there, and my store pick homies at Angel's Share never fail to lead me down interesting roads.

I agree that Blanton's is the bourbon beginners choice. Problem is that those people fixate only on that one and just don't try other bottles. I like variety on my bar: Scotch, bourbon, tequila, brandy.... Various spirit types and subtypes, trying to expand my experience overall. If you only concentrate on one type of food, you are missing a lot of good stuff. The same applies to liquor.

I recently picked up a bottle at MSRP, which was the first time I'd seen it at that price in many years. Actually, the only reason I got it was because it was MSRP and I hadn't had it in a long time. After sampling it, I was pretty underwhelmed - it's certainly decent but is nowhere near paying what it typically goes for. For my money, Kentucky Spirit is a much better single barrel, and Rare Breed stomps them both. Or a Knob Creek Single Barrel. Hell, I think even a regular Jim Beam Single Barrel, which carries a higher proof point and a much lower price is a better bottle than Blanton's.

I've never had it. Mainly because I prefer a higher proof pour and would never consider paying more than retail. I finally tried my first Eagle Rare and it was OK, but again I felt like it was too low Proof. I feel like if you want some age (Which I love) a Knob Creek 12 is a good value for around $65. I out like the Knob Creek 120 proof which I found a Sam's Club store pick of for only $44....I want to try George T. Stagg or William Larue Weller more than anything, but way out of my price range.... I did have 1 pour of GTS about 15 years ago.... Maybe someday again? ❤️🙏

I have a ‘22 unopened on the shelf that will be opened soon. I haven’t paid over msrp which is about $60 here in Fort Worth. While I do love it, I won’t pay over. Blanton's was good back when it was $40-$50 and could easily be found in stores. I first had it long before it got hyped up, and I liked it but wasn't blown away. Later on, I thought I might want a bottle, but to my surprise, I found that people were going nuts over it, so I didn't bother searching and bought something else instead. Since then, I have not had a bottle in my collection because it isn't worth the trouble or the cost, but some of the local bars reliably stock it and don't charge way too much, so I will order it on occasion when I go out. I like to put it up against other things. In every case so far, those other things have won the comparison. Standard issue Four Roses single barrel, which can easily be found for $40-$50, was a lot better, at least for my preferences. I liked Frey Ranch cask strength better than Blanton's Gold, but that might not have been a fair comparison because the alcoholic strength is significantly different. In general, I prefer bourbons that are more bold and complex. Blanton's is too simple and easy going for my taste, but that is what makes it ideal for beginners - or would make it ideal if the stuff could be found. I hesitate to recommend it to beginners these days because of the difficulty in acquiring it, especially since there are so many other great options. Blanton's is a master class in marketing, but the booze in the bottle, while good quality, doesn't live up to the hype. For me, the booze in the bottle is all that matters.

I'm with Josh - after having a decent (but not spectacular) experience with my first bottle, I buy Blanton's as gifts but that's about it (as well as keeping a bottle for friends who want to try it). It's a good classic bourbon, but way over-priced and DEFINITELY over-hyped. I have at least 30-40 other bottles that I would pick first (and cost less).

There are many whiskeys at 80 beans that smoke blantons. I would choose a JD SBBP rye any day over a Sb blantons. Let’s be real here, the JD Rye cooks it. Hardcore.
But did John Fn wick drink a JD BP?? No. He didn’t lol.
I sort of wish he did, it would make the JD SBBP SUPER hard to find so… it’s all up to the individual man.
Love y’all’s content keep it up.

Quote "Varying shades of the same colour" unquote ! Isn't that just the basic truth behind the myriad of bourbons in a nut shell ?
But I'm disappointed that you can't see the parallels between BT's marketing of Blanton (an okay bourbon in a fancy bottle) and your own T-Shirt merchandise (an okay T-Shirt with a fancy logo), how would you feel if a youtube T-shirt reviewer did a review of your merch ? And stated that it's just an overpriced 'okay' t-shirt with a gimmicky logo ! Seems to be a double standard to me, it's okay for you guys to wring every buck out of the bourbon buyers market but for BT to do the same is classed as a 'money grab' and is only really suitable as a gift for a new to bourbon friend who doesn't know any better. So ultimately what you're saying is,"Don't buy Blantons as it's an overpriced Bourbon BUT hey by the way why don't you grab one of our reasonably priced T-Shirts to help support us", seems that you don't like their marketing technique but you certainly like your own, eh ?
Your opinion on Bourbon means no more to me than the guy you meet at the bar who says,"Hey have you tried XXXX ?" and it's followed by a brief descriptive exchange of words, I don't ask him if he's got his own line of merchandise, whether he needs a 'follow' or where the like button is ! I take his opinion into consideration, judge it by my own taste and go forward, I do get a tad annoyed when I see loads of online Bourbon reviewers, giving their own views like they are some sort of time served master distiller that deserve respect and then trying to build a 'community' which is nothing more than a customer base for over priced merch and subscription paid Patreon membership ! Not everything is about money, some things are just about sharing an interest rather than constructing a side hustle in an ever growing popular interest section on the internet. I wonder if you'll be venturing into the world of rum & tequila soon, either directly or indirectly through some sister channel, as both of those 'markets' are on the rise too and it would be remiss of you not to take the opportunity to expand you're side hustle into those areas as well.
When I watch a video review I am not bothered if you like it or not, I'm only interested in whether I'll like it, your opinion should be limited to tasting notes, aroma and the finish as your palate is going to be different to mine (& everyone else), what I need is a description of the bourbon and not a sales pitch for joining the 'club', stick to that and I'll watch a few more of your videos, heck ! I might even click the like button.....

Pretty safe to say you can skip watching more. We do this channel for fun and community, and you clearly have a very different viewpoint on what you want out of content vs why we make content. Luckily there are plenty of channels out there that will fit your needs much better than ours. Cheers and all the best.

Agree 100% Not bad juice but not worth a premium unless you are chasing hosey tops. I have 1 in my collection but I felt no need to get any more. BT are masters at marketing.
