What is absolutely amazing is that, aside from the Lutz, Denise maintained this level of difficulty throughout her professional career. While other skaters who came after her (and were Olympic medalists) had trouble doing a single 3T or 3S per program by the mid 1990s [*cough* Witt, **cough* Manley], Denise was still pulling off programs with 3 planned triple jumps easily while still maintaining a corral of spins that far exceeded even the younger skaters.
Not only could she have contended for the top at the Olympics in 1984 or 1988 if she had chosen to stay on, but she could have shown up in 1992 or 1994 and had a well-earned spot. She was ahead of her time and kept her peak abilities intact for 20 years and won competitions all the way through official retirement, long after everyone else had folded. That is ridiculous. For a long time, she was the definition of ageless.

I was there for this performance, Hartford Ct. Have always loved her style, consistency and unparalleled spinning ability.

She's fantastic. If she went to Olympics in 1984 as much as I love Witt, Denise could have won. And 88 and 92. She kept on developing in professional. I absolutely adore her On Golden Pond program.

Thank you for this. I LOVE this program! There has never been another skater like Denise, and there probably will never be.
Help me with music... first piece, I thought was Funeral for a Friend (Elton John), but that was Kristofics-Binder's music. I know 1:55 is Lucifer (The Alan Parsons Project) and then Disco Firebird...

Denise skated to Santana's "Samba Pa Ti" at the beginning of her LP. Between "Lucifer" and "Magic Bird of Fire," she used a short piece by Vladimir Cosma ("Theme de Nadia").

she could have won as many olympics as she wanted until she wasnt able/ she still powered the triples as a pro and her stamina was un matched

As much as I love Katarina WItt, if Denise Biellmann had stayed on -- *she* would have been the 2-time champ. She wasn't much for traditional artistry (as Scott Hamilton once said, her programs don't have a beginning or end, it's ALL "middle"), but her technicality never faltered her. Her jumps were always on point and she was greatest spinner of 3 generations of skaters.

@maxthewonderpup Yup. Brian Orser used it in his LP in 1984 as well.
"Vincent Montana, Jr, recorded a disco version in 1977 with the Salsoul Orchestra calling the piece "Magic Bird of Fire" on his album Magic Journey."
