It was a great time to be young, the 80's. I saw Warrant and Britny Fox in a high school gym on Camp Lejeune in 1987. A couple weeks later the videos hit MTV. That decade was wild.
I was there from 84-87. Infantry. Got caught up in that Lejeune contaminated water. Now having stomach issues.
@UCBBoYT_SyFF5amj4N1pEcig thank you for the feed back. I refuse to go to doctors until emergency. Don't trust them at all.
Jani made his career. Pure and simple. Jani wrote the music, wrote the lyrics, wrote the melodies and had lots of input on production. The other members of Warrant were just there for the ride.
I’ll push back on this idea a little. the other guys contributed what was needed. you couldn’t just pick any 4 musicians and put them with Jani and get Warrant. Jani was a unique talent, but they all put in the work.
I went to high school with Erik . I remember him playing all by himself under a tree at school. A very quiet dude.
I went to university high school with mad max the original drummer of warrant.
I used to have the original warrant demo tape with the first singer
It was amazing
Does anyone out there want to collaborate on a metal show on Netflix.
I started a band called . Danny BorderlineDELUSIONband@gmail.com
Placentia Ca. El Dorado high
Yes in Placentia California I think he graduated in 82 I graduated in 83
No as I look through my yearbook he actually graduated in 81
Very glad to say it lives right by me now, awesome and fun dude.
I saw them open for Motley Crue in 1989.
Me too! KS Kemper Arena . My sister (who turned me onto CRUE in SHOUT era) , and a couple friends (RIP Chris) as I was just a sophomore in HS....Got COMPLETELY blasted, and drunker than hell as well 🤤 Lol 😆. ...Just now, mainly remember the WILD light show CRUE had, with the pentagram holographic lights thrown out on the sets of crowds throughout the arena, in time with the SHOUT at the DEVIL riff and beat with the crowd just screamin "SHOUT! SHOUT! SHOUT! SHOUT at the DEVIL!!!" 🤘🤘🥁🎸. (with the song obviously,.. Under good ol Vince Neil's commands! Tommy spinning with his kit ALL up and down the arena (not just behind/above the stage) plus just the band (NO Vince at the mike) jammed this 15 -20 minute Led Zeppelin jam MAINLY doing a REALLY cool Zeppelin Tribute jam (Rock n Roll/When the Levee Breaks/Lotta love)...And, it was the SAME year I kinda fell for this girl that ended up going FULL ON groupie chick later ithat SAME year! "Amy" was her name, and I will leave it at that 😎 SAME girl I tried to have a relationship with back earlier in that same year, (but we were/stayed "friends") and? She had ALREADY been introduced to/ and "hanging OUT WITH" 🤨, per say) Mister JANI LANE himself, as he would ALWAYS call her WHEN coming through our area, PLUS of course? Having HER meet up with him at lotta of the other local shows etc... My hair wasn't near as long as HIS, I was just a local Hard Rock/METAL drummer playing with "the big boy bands" at parties, clubs ,house parties etc (as I was 15-16) playing with mid 20 year old weekend warrior musicians playing ALL the covers etc and? Still havin fun...🤔😏😎....Ohh yeah, good times! GOOD daze.. ROCK ON 🤘🔥🤘
Adjust your audio levels. Every time it switches from someone talking to the music, it's 5x louder.
Horrible audio.
I'm having to do the same thing. I have to turn it up to hear the interview then I have to turn it down cause the music comes on louder than the interview.......good lord......lol
They need to remix and repost
Very cool to hear from Erik. These interviews should be much longer. This one is very short and with all the history Erika has of the Sunset Strip, I'm sure he has many more details and facts to share about those years
Eric is a part of the Sunset Strip fabric. Part two of Eric is coming Jav.
You guys need to get Jake E Lee, Warren DeMartini and Mick Mars interviewed
Opened up for Warrant at the troubadour/album release gig. Dirty Rotten Stinking Filthy Rich. R.I.P.Troubadour.X
Caught Warrant at a club in Riverside just before DRFSR blew up. Great show.
Say what you want, but there was a time when WARRANT was one of the biggest bands in the world. God bless 'em. RIP JANI.
Warrant were NEVER one of the biggest bands ‘in the world’. Bullshit. They were well-known in the niche market of hair metal, that’s it. Not knocking them, but get your facts straight.
@@glengamble526 thats your opinion, but when you have a Double platinum album and a #1 single?? Yea,id say that qualifies as being a pretty big band. Im old enough to know.
@@dwade6322 that still doesn't near qualify them as one of
the biggest bands in the world. Not even close, try again.
They had a moment, but i would not say they were one of the biggest bands in the world....Im 51 so i was the exact demographic in the 80's when they hit...they were popular, but one of biggest in the world? Thats a stretch. They never got bigger than Poison.
Great live band. I saw them with Quiet Riot and Slaughter, enjoyed every moment of the show.
A+ content. D- audio.
Warrent is one of my favorites from the 80's. I love Eric's lead playing. I wish he hadn't stopped. I saw them a couple years ago when they did the anniversary tour of the DRFSR album. They still rock hard. Great band.
Eric looks like a sober Richie Sambora :)
Or Michael Sweet lol
Richie Sobora lol
Eric used to sit outside his mom's crib & watched eric play guitar. All of our neighbors were musicians. Mike Delaney & his brothers
Plain Jane...what an a-ma-zing name for a Glam band!!! xoxo The Clarences
Love hearing the history! This is quickly becoming one of my favorite CZcams channels (and I don’t watch a ton of videos because I’m busy creating my own!)
Hey Jason we just subscribed to you as well. Love your channel and what you do. Thanks again.
@@80smetalrecyclebin Thank you 🤘
Great interview lots of history there. I'm tnterested to hear more.
Those were the best days. I graduated high school in 1994.
I remember Ericfom from vanoeen . I lived across the street. Great guy and a lot of good times. 💗
My first show ever as a drummer at 17 years old was opening for these guys. We did the 3rd night of their record release show at the Roxy... It was crazy packed even when we played. Wild times! Jani also came up on stage with my band after and we did down boys. Still have the video tape somewhere.
Awesome I can’t wait for more I passed by this I don’t know why but I’m glad I clicked great interview
Exactly...and that's why I've been just ripping these idiots who are slagging on the dude in the comments: they didn't have to stay and watch & comment they could have just kept going if they wasn't in to it ya know! 🤟
I know!👍🏻
Poison really did take them under their wing. Even after Poison got signed and made it, any time Warrant would play, there was a 90% chance that a member of Poison would be at their show. This was especially true after Joey Allen left the OC band SUSPECT for Warrant and really solidified them (Warrant) as the next Kings of the strip.
Eric turner is pretty cool. We played pool at my parents house back in the early 80s Placentia ca. Neighborhood friends.
Very underrated band in my opinion!!!🙏🙏🙏
Erik Turner is sadly one of the most underrated guitarists of his era. Erik wrote some of the most fantastic accompaniments with Jani Lane as the frontman. They played off of each other, and you can often hear Erik singing along with notes from his guitar. All in all Erik Turner is an unsung legend.
He is not underrated. He just isn't that good. When the studio brings in a guy to play your parts because you arent that good means you can't be rated. Yes he got better but said hired gun had to show him the parts.
These are facts. Mike Slammer
One of the coolest guys in rock 🤘
Let's face it Jani, was warrant, I know Warren existed before him but they would have never gone anywhere or without him. Main songwriter, the voice and vision
SO SHWEEEETTT...much love Tee with LIONS NAMED LEO.[the music worldwide}
aaahhhh cool talks..!!!
Wish these interviews could longer... Five, six minutes is a teaser.
Julian, most of our interviews run 8 plus min. Watch more and you will see how they get longer. We try to keep it interesting, captivating and fun...
Do you guys thing there's a narrative in this stuff you're collecting? Is there a film?
Richie Sambora!!! Cool.
Greatest time in history so glad I was part of the 80's metal scene growing up, there will never be anything like it. Poor kids nowadays are fucked, shit music, disgusting looking chicks, and all they have to look at all day is their stupid cell phone.
I wish the volume was more consistent. Turn it up to hear him talk just to get blasted by the louder music
rock n roll
Odd that every lead solo on their first album was played by a session musician
I watched an interview with their producer. He said that was era of EVH, DeMartini and other shredders so they needed somebody like this in Warrant. Guitar player who had played on a debut, gave Erik and Joey some lessons so they knew how to play his solos.
So, WHO WAS/IS THIS session guitar 🎸 player guy , that landed ALL THOSE infamous (and epic) WARRANT guitar SOLOS on their 1st 2 monumental albums? 🤔....I did NOT know that/this . I am "guessing? 🤔" MAYBE, that it was done THAT WAY to maybe save some time and big 💸💸💸 on studio rental time?... Interesting indeed....🤘🔥🤘
great band with some fun songs
Yes remix please
The reflection in his glasses makes it look like he has a Snap filter instead of actual shades!! 🤣
It does
The hat looks like part of the filter too

Do you have to make the intro/outro and segue music SO EFFING LOUD?!!
Just don't seem them on the same bill as Queensryche. Sure Queensryche had the gothic glam look for a bit but their music was very complicated and not driven by women. I remember an interview with Chris and he said they hated their look.
Really cool vid, been a huge fan of Warrant literally since Day 1 but…why do his sunglasses look like a Snapchat filter and not real?? 😂
OR THAT hat, he's wearing 😦... WHAT kinda fake plastic lookin thing is THAT thing supposed to simulate?...😬🤨🤔🙄
Didn’t know Erik is blind.
Those are Dillon Optic sunglasses, that is a matte finish lens
Hes not blind
Sorry, motley-crue are the kings of the strip/LA.
And it's really not even close. With all due respect to the departed (RIP JL), Warrant has nothing on the Crue.
Largely because of timing. In 81, 82 the metal scene was just developing. Crue benefitted from timing very much.
his sunglasses look like a pasted in emoji

Warrant gets a lot of flack, but I loved them. Got to see them opening for Crew in 89.
Kinda looks like Taime Downe here.
I thought the same thing
The best flyer weren't ever had back in those days was the flyer where all five members of the band are hanging over the tops of bathroom stalls and in the bottom part you can just see sexually dressed legs in each one. I was there back in that day I miss it. My band was called Dawn Haven.
Starts here 0:51
It was queensryche, warrant, i think it was winger any way i went it was after the metallica tour the ryche headlined irvi meadows playing mindcrime
Jani Lane Was Warrant! How many hits since Jani left....0
I met him in 1994 at Janie Lane Sunset Strip in Orlando Florida he was not nice at all he was a jerk Jani Lane on the other hand was great to us
Well I mean...Just looking at him NOW and here in this vid (by appearance even?) 😬... It's like 🤨 Dude, you DIDN'T even play, ANY of those actual iconic solos on the MOST memorable CDs in your career and , ya wanna act NOW like some kinda guitar 🎸 GAWD or something?.....Hmmm, 🤔 ......Nope! 🙄
These dudes didn’t even play guitar solos on their own albums, until the third album! Jani Lane was the only reason they got some fame and good songs. The rest of the band could have been a bar band in some little town of America.
What the hell? Are you insane? GTFO.
@@fivestring65ify its true
Right time and places (for them guys obviously) and? The ability to be able to pull it ALL off EVERY night etc.. But yeah, Jani Lane WAS ALWAYS the best thing about that band back when..After he was out?...Meh..(RIP J.L. 🤘)
@@mottosierra1372❤ it's true
The music is way too loud and it drowns out the interview. Not edited by a professional.
Audio levels are horrible on this excerpt. Recycled is usually high quality. Cant even hear Eric, then music comes in blaring. Maybe remix this piece?
Just say it dude "Pop Metal." That's the word you're looking for Lol. But they had some good stuff, especially 'Down Boys,' imo.
Could you please fix the fucking volume level of the music during the segues? jesus christ...
why you wearing sunglasses indoors?
You know I wonder if this guy who seems intelligent doesn't look at the get up he is wearing and laugh at himself. Look the hair and the clothes are kinda goofy but come on the sunglasses and hat are ridiculous. How old is this guy? 55?
My first thought.
more like 60
You know some of the music was pretty good so why make it seem like you are a doing a parody of yourself.
Erik IS goofy, in the worst way. What a loser he is.
I really admired Erik in High School. I only had a couple of classes with him, but he was very dedicated to his music. I played in bands too , but only made it to one CD . Played a lot of great venues in L.A. but never to Erik's level, and you have to admire that.
Need more actual commentary and a lot less of REALLY loud rock snippets.
Look at Erik Turner!! He thinks he's big deal. The truth is that he wouldn't be squat without Jani.
Hey Stan let me let you in on a secret: he's doing the interview...if you didn't like the guy why did you watch and comment? Yep like the two idiots under you in the comments you're goon #3! Wow are you kidding me right now!!
@@RockyH. No joking at all. I watched and commented because I hate Erik Turner for the horrible things he has said on the record about Jani. Erik is a fool, joker, clown wannabe, and idiot. I'd love to meet Erik in a dark, back alley.
@@RockyH. Wow, slow down you big sister! We all wanted to hear what the guy had to tell, but we are free to comment, or disagree. Right, old momma? This guy couldn’t have a career on his own, so fly low you sister!

The music is way too loud and the interview part is too quiet. Do you people even watch the vid before you post it? SMH! Amateur hour!
- Can't write a good song without Jani Lane. Rob Mason, although I like his voice just doesn't have the innate songwriting talent. Their last album was ... mostly embarrassing.
Whoever edited this video did a pretty lousy job with the sound. I mean for crying out loud this is about music why is the sound so loud between the music and the dude talking? Doesn't anybody in this world know how to edit audio into a video properly anymore?
yeah this one was a fail on our part but if you give us a shot you will find many other videos very nicely produced. Thanks for the kind words bro.
Hard cheesy 😛
Sorry but the songs have been written by Jani Lane!!!!....not you!!!!...Erik is a heartless one!!!....you left Jani to fate by not caring about him!!!!...Everyone be ashamed!!!!!
your "show" is poorly edited. just play the clip.
Where’s yours?…nothing, just looked at your channel. So if you DID somehow do this you’d just roll video clips? That’s WHY you don’t have a channel with anything on it at all. The ones who do that are a dime a dozen. This “show” is amazing. When yours is done better, your way, I’d love to see it. Instead of critiquing an awesome channel like this, go make one!
@@philmccracken8947 well, I don't like this building up the street so I'm going to be a construction guy first, and the president is bungling his job so I'll do that next and then I'll make a show. wtf

Warrant. Incredibly mediocre band. A couple good songsvthen meh.
Poison and Warrant were the worst hard rock bands to ever make it big - truly horrible.
Poison put on a fun show and girls flocked to their shows...granted, their music wasnt life changing but they were fun.
@@markherring3513
I don't go see bands to meet girls. Their music was weak af, the vocals were even weaker, and the songs were simple, cheesy and dumb, like really bad pop.
@@dowens3781 They were fun..i stand by my comment. I already admitted it was the lowest common denominator but doesnt it mean they didnt put on a fun show. I have their first two albums.
@@markherring3513
I probably would go to a show if it were free. But probably wouldn't have in the 80's, since I was a hardcore thrash metal fan and hated glam with a passion.

Classic Van Halen is my all time fav...i also enjoyed Judas Priest (was my first concert, defenders of the faith..my dad took me) Ratt, Motley Crue, Def Lep, Led Zep, the Stones..etc..etc...I also like Metallica and pantera later on when they hit. I went to the And Justice For All tour and its the only concert where just sitting through it i was exhausted...it was that intense. I just enjoy rock all around...i went to any big band that came through..hell I even went to the Thompson Twins in 1985!!! hahha..my dad liked them so he took me to the concert.
