    Fantastic method. Thanks. ❤ I had first & second degree burns from an accident, covering my face & front of upper body & during the time I was lying in an ice bath, I began to think of the strangeness of the pain from the burns & the ice penetrating my body through thin fabric of cotton blankets. The result was that the pain disappeared at some level & I merely observed strange sensations & the sense that everything was okay. I also remember inhaling & exhaling slowly.

    Happy new year!
    I had a steady hissing sound in my head. It started about 7 years ago. Cut a long story short, I was introduced to yoga and breathing exercises. I discovered that I almost fall asleep instantly if I commenced breathing exercises and always slept soundly thereafter; yet the hissing sound continue unabated. My experiences suggest that outcomes from these exercises may not be the desired.

    This is interesting to see. Is it true for me to think this may not work for everyone? I expect I’m not alone. Unfortunately for me focusing on the pain always causes it to become much worse. I have fibromyalgia and had to stop watching as it started a migraine after the pain everywhere got suddenly worse. I find distraction is the best way to cope by focusing on something else. Edit: I am feeling a bit stressed today so maybe I’ll try again another day. 😊

    I do this most mornings at final wakeup.
    In 60-90 minutes the high levels of very disturbing multiple pains, often approaching severe, and brain stuff subside to more manageable and less wide spread pain. Then I stretch. Then I get ready for and go out for a walk. I do somatic tracking while walking and my body tells me when to return home.
    Warm water pool therapy is hugely helpful. Unfortunately it is not very available to most.

    Is this technique only applicable to patients with conditions like fibromyalgia? I have suffered nerve damage to my left scapula due to trauma, and my scapula became unstable 24/7. I underwent a procedure to drill holes in my scapula to tie it to my a rib to stabilize them. However, the doctor lacked expertise, and a month after the surgery, my rib completely broke under the strain of scapular movement. Again scapula was unstable and a rib still completely broken. Since then, I have been living with severe pain for two years. My rib is still completely broken. The doctor irresponsibly said that the rib is not crucial bone, and that I am just sensitive to pain; broken rib is not a problem. In such a case, can I fully recover from the pain? Are there cases of people with even more severe trauma and injuries who have recovered from their pain?

    First of all-- if the goal is not to diminish or end pain, then why do it? I have tried doing this practice for YEARS-- it has done absolutely nothing. I have no fear of movement-- I am very very active-- AND in extreme pain. This practice does absolutely nothing for me.

      I'm sorry it didn't work for you. I've seen hundreds, if not thousands or people who have found relief in this kind of treatment. Once they stop fearing that pain is a danger signal, their brain stops fueling the sensations of pain.

      You are exactly 💯 right. People in REAL severe pain will never benefit from this . Only brings almost disrespectful to devaluate our real PAIN..no fear here either!! I am and feel safe .

      Doesn't work😂. Drs love to talk rubbish anything to not give a sufferer what actually works God forbid! Trying to work 3 jobs just to keep my home and put food on the table so having time to watch the sky and clouds is quite frankly ridiculous and insulting.

      ​@@naomideleon8363this cured my chronic pelvic pain. I don't appreciate being told my pain was not REAL SEVERE. It sure as hell was. This stopped me from fearing the pain, i was able to just observe the pain neutrally. Once i stopped being afraid of pain in my day to day life it dissapeared. I hope the same can happen to you. Remember: chronic pain is caused by your brain, your thoughts and especially your fear. It has nothing to do with your body.

    Ma'am I'm having varicocele (grade 1-2) since 5 years..... feels mild discomfort...... Dr says manage it conservatively... not surgical intervention needed..... it seems psychosomatic..... Refered to psychiatrist...... that consistent discomfort lost my calmness, that effect my intestinal function (gas trapped, that lost my appetite, that lost my lean muscle mass.... what kind of pain (discomfort if i call it ,being very mild) i am dominating...??

    Hi, Andrea what about triggered pain? For example, I have pain in my hand when touching certain parts, also after using it for too long, how should I do somatic tracking then? Touch the area that's tender/sensetive while at the same time do somatic tracking?

    Never ever take it up on urself to help someone with PTSD with repeated exposure to the trauma or pain, in order to desensitize them. You will damage that person permanently. The brain is complicated. Google, reading books, even videos are not always accurate. Leave it to the real professionals or just offer emotional support and kindness. Life is not a boot camp and trauma/pain have numerous causes.

      You're body can go through bioplastic changes till the day you die. They can be good or bad but they are never permanent.

      @@DrAndreaFurlanyour handout for medical professionals says that nociplastic pain is very commonly associated with adverse childhood effects. So yes, you’re associating nociplastic pain with PTSD. You’re not standing behind your ‘technique’ when challenged, that’s not very reassuring. Chronic pain patients are gaslighted by medical professionals every day.
