I Spent $10 in an Ecuador Market and Got Over 100 Items

  • I'm headed to my local market in Ecuador to see what a dollar can get you. It's a little game I like to call 'How Many For a Dollar?!!' I'm seeing how many: strawberries, tomatoes, chilis, bananas, avocados, red onions, eggs, mandarins, passion fruits, and limes that a single dollar can buy you. The results are pretty surprising... and now I have way too much food.
One of my favorite things about living in Ecuador is the abundance of cheap fruit and vegetables. The best place to shop is the market, and my favorite market is Quito's Iñaquito Market. Be sure to check it out if you are in the city. They serve up some incredible hornado (see... • Roast Pig - SUPER CRIS... ).

In America the apples are coated with something and they don’t rot. $4.00 for 10 apple. Ecuador is much better. Food here makes me sick. Desiring to move where fruits and vegetables are without pesticides.

Ecuador is more affordable and healthy. You could actually find fruits with seeds.

I use limes every day. I pay 2/$1 on Amazon's Whole Foods when I have my groceries delivered to my house during Covid19 era. Yet another reason I am moving to Cuenca Ecuador this year,

Thank you for the information, do you think you can go to the coast market like Manta Ecuador, and compare on what you would get over there for $10 as well?

Is way cheaper, just as an example in the coast you may find 40 to 50 limes for a dollar, same for avocados, they will usually give you 4 for a dollar.
