just asked, there is not. This is what they wrote: Hollywood Strings 2 is a brand new recording of a Chamber sized string ensemble recorded in a smaller soundstage. There is no predecessor to Hollywood Strings 2. The Hollywood Strings in the Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition is a completely different, large string library recorded in a much bigger soundstage.
The Hollywood Strings 2 has no content from the Hollywood Orchestra, nor any other of our libraries. At this time there is no upgrade pricing available. We are offering String Machines as a pre order bonus. You'll be able to use the String Machine libraries right away, as the license will deposit for you as soon as you make your pre order purchase.

not for me as far as I can see in my account , and I got all the recent (within 4 last years) EWQL products ... and therefore I also got the (free) "String Machine" (too bad for loyal customer / clients 😔 )

Mixing is a too panned to one side for each instrument but I think under the right mixing these could be useful. Excited to give these a try.
Yes, exactly. Whoever mixed this wasn't having a good day. Hopefully the library itself isn't panned this way, and there is actual vibrato on the samples.

I like the studio, close mic vibe of this but where is the vibrato? Surely this isn't the max of what its capable of? I would have thought in some of those higher passages we'd hear it, was that a creative decision for the library itself?
Since there's Hollywood Strings 2... Are we getting a full Hollywood Orchestra 2 too within 2026?
It’s called that way because the strings are recorded in EW Studio 2, which is smaller in size and produces more intimate chamber sound.

This is a brand new string library recorded in EastWest Studio 2 for when you need a dryer, more intimate chamber strings sound.

Sounds realistic, just hope it mixes decent. I have been really struggling with your the older libraries (original HO). They require so much work just to get a basic sus/stac sounding good and they are not tight at all which is fine for slower things without anything but orchestra, but for more up tempo it doesn't seem to cut. I am hoping this isn't the same and easier to use out of the box for those of us who mix with other instruments.

awesome! On a side note; is it possible to automate between the moods in opus? I have tried and looked in the manual etc, but I can't get it to work for some reason.. is it not possible?
It's possible, but not on one instrument. The moods actually load up different mic positions and reverbs, switching between the moods actually loads/unloads samples from the instrument and could cause issues if it was a quick automation within a project file, so with one copy of the instrument, you still would have to manually change moods.
What you could do though, is to load up 3 copies of the instrument within one Opus instance, all set to be receiving midi on the same Midi channel (set in the instrument rack) then make each a different Mood/set it up however you want, then you can go to the Perform > Zones page and make them a group.
Then you could change them from 'pass thru' to either a Keyswitch, Program Change, or Controller that you would then use as a way to switch between the different moods that are available.
Note: The Opus walkthrough video covers utilizing the perform page - czcams.com/video/PZKsqh5Y3AY/video.html , where he sets up a Keyswitch between two instruments, but you could use Midi CC if you wanted to enter it in as CC data instead.

If you go to the link in the description, it kind of gives you everything. I already forgot what it was but it’s like 180 some gigs. It’s over 100 gigs that’s for sure.
