    I use the same coupler for my bridge and pier rod holders. Awesome build!

    Good idea. You can put a screw on the side some how and cut notches to turn different positions and lock in place

    UPDATE: If anyone decides to try this out, you will need a washer between the pvc and the track. After tightening the bottom down a couple times I realize the track was damaging the bottom of the pvc.

      Hello from Lake Charles! You should use a rectangle head brass toilet bolt. Slides right in the track like they were made for it 👍🏻

    Very nice video. Quite creative!!! But a little word of caution. That white pvc material or the black abs stuff is not very UV resistant. A few years out in the direct sunlight will make it very brittle and weak. So it's quite possible a big fish could cause you a lost rod and reel. I suggest using the gray electrical pipe conduit that is formulate for outdoor commercial use. This would make a much stronger, longer lasting product. But it's your call. Best of luck to you.

    • @peterpiper_203
      @peterpiper_203 Před 6 lety

      They don't make wye's in electrical fittings
      Just use
      schedule 80 pvc
      or get CPVC
      But now it's turning into dollars as they are more expensive fittings
      So just make more then one and when you feel it getting weak toss it
      Just mÿ .02cents

    I really like ur idea and I'm gonna try a version of it. I would love to have scottys or yakattacks but funds prohibit it. I've always liked and found satisfaction in "makin it rather then buyin it" anyway. Thanks for the inspiration. :-)

  • @BAKERHUSKIE

    Nice job. I was thinking that using it upside down and you would have 2 positons. Then I see there is not enough space for the rod to go all the way in. Thanks for the video

    You're supposed to primer all surfaces receiving cement. What sense would it make you only primer one? Also an elevator bolt with a ground head will fit and lock it's square flanged neck within the track slot and slide within back and forth like a dream. It's funny cause I built this in my head already then hit CZcams to see others ideas for yak rod holders realizing I already had nailed it myself. lol I absolutely love being a diy minded crafty person, can't wait to meet a yuppie yaker who blew a couple hundred on yakattack holders and show em my 4 homebrew holders for $15. LOL

    The width of the rod opening. Is the width small enough that you have to slide the rod out from the top or is there enough space to lift the rod out of the holder.The length of the channel . Is there any advantage to extending this channel further down the receiver/pipe?Nice video - thank you

      @CoastalTrailsOutdoors  Před 6 lety

      Probably a couple bucks each. I already had everything but the glue. Locally we have a building resell store where you can buy lightly used or donated building supplies. I would check there for some PVC. Otherwise if you had to buy the PVC, paint, glue, etc. it would be out of range.

    Neat project! Quite creative! But "gravity" causes the rod to fall in place?! Gravity is a theory that has NEVER been, and can not be proven, or tested; could it be that the rod is just more dense than the surrounding air, so it can't be supported by the air, and just falls into place????

      Track mounted rod holders for kayaks are like $20 minimum for an average one. This is like $4-5 to make. Not sure on the logic of buying one being cheaper.
