Take the annual statistical report announced at the April 2018 Conference. New children of record - 106,771 and converts baptised - 233,729. That’s a total of 340,500. Add that on to last years membership total 15,882,417 and it should give you this years total membership. Hey wait a minute, that would give 16,222,917. This years membership is only 16,118,168. What happened to the other 104,748 members?
Did I do the math right? 774,000 members as 8% means that the total number is 9.6 million... then at the end Packer states that they have 13 million members. Did I miss something?
Andrew G. The ill-informed have been predicting the demise of Mormonism since 1844. The Church continues to grow evidenced by the creation of new stakes almost weekly. Convert and child of record baptisms in my part of the vineyard, outnumber record removals by about 100 to 1. The so-called death of Mormonism is greatly exagerrated.
Baloney. Many new stakes are being created in the US, and they only create new stakes when there is sufficient membership AND leadership. New stakes are a clear indicator of growth in strength AND in numbers. Surveys are useless when it comes to measuring church growth. Surveys are done by interviewing tiny samples of people. If surveys were reliable, Hillary Clinton would be our president in a landslide. LOL BTW, seven new temples announced yesterday, three of them in the US. New temples can only be built when there are large numbers of committed, mature members to staff them AND necessary tithing funds to build them. Percentage of church members holding temple recommends is at a record high and increasing. You only get one of those if you are a committed member AND a full tithe payer. I've been a clerk in my ward and stake off and on for the last twenty years and can count the number of record removals in those years on two hands. On the other hand, over the same period, convert baptisms are averaging 50-100 a year. The rate of record removals is about the same as always, but with the rise of the internet, the removals are highly publicized, causing anti-Mormon hobbyists such as yourself to believe that Mormonism is imploding. LOL. With all due respect, you have no clue of what's actually happening in the real Mormom Church. You're a poorly informed internet jock that has little or no contact with the actual in-the-trenches Mormon Church.
Andrew G. Of course the missionary force has decreased! That's simply a function of the dramatic spike that occurred when they changed the missionary age. When those kids come home that caused the spike, the numbers go back to pre-spike levels.
Andrew G. LOL. "Most of your growth is in Nigeria." You antis are comical. It's no secret where the growth is. Look in the Church News in the stakes reorganized and stakes created every week and that's where your growth is. Most new stakes are in the United States and Latin America. Also, rapid growth in the Phillipines.
Andrew G. LOL. That is comical. So the Mormon Church is building new buildings as window dressing to create the appearance of growth. ROFL. If you knew beans about the church you would know that they never build new buildings until the existing buildings are busting at the seams with four wards or no other underutilized buildings within many miles.
No they are not drunk sober up in this case just means get your head together. It's an old saying. They are too old to be getting drunk. They don't have to drink to feel drunk. Can you imagine the medications the old troopers are on?
@Ralph Wiggam The latest leaked statement is that the apostles living expenses stipend, etc... is NOT from tithing, but from the for-profit revenues. Nevertheless, it is all the same jar, with the claim they never use tithing from members for for-profit enterprise. Their allowance is quite stout: living expenses, extra expendable income, travel, excellent insurance and tier one healthcare, free college tuition to children, etc... If they are all millionaires to begin with (most members argument) then why take anything? Also, I remember Christ calling the 12 based on their net worth and worldly success.
Everyone makes this out to be a scandal. It is not. The church tells certain paid employees that their pay already includes a deduction for tithing, so it's already been paid. Others are told they still must pay tithing since it has not been deducted. It's silly, but not scandalous.

No offense Joseph smith is a fraud n false prophet. With that been say. The membership in the lds church is going keep getting lower n lower by next 4 years or so at some point lds church would have to decide to disband or something.
Only 144,000 are chosen from the 12 tribes of Israel. Many false prophets are in this world. Woe to the leaders who lead people astray. They will be held accountable. No church can save you. Looks more like a board of directors of a multi billion corporation than actual apostles.
Duh??? This is the kind of people Jesus kicked out of the temple! He kicked out the people who turned the temple intot a corporation!!!!

It means that they purposely caused the elderly to die because of Covid.
The Council of Fifty Paper recently released say that the 12 Apostles exempted themselves from paying tithing. Is this still the policy?
@Jim Caponzi Mormons compete with each other. They don't care about the Catholics. They laugh at their order of putting the Bible together.
The Catholics are awesome! They're cool people 😊 all the LDS people I know love them.
wake up. you've been had!

Shows they are men who care about the members lives. So what?
Yes, the only real thing they care about member's tithing, so they can get richer. If they did care about members they would tell the truth.
It’s a numbers game
The Mormon organization is nothing else but a big lie, a fraud, and a cult.
