The Battle for Caen was a fierce military engagement fought between the Allied Forces and the German Army during the Second World War. The objective was to capture the strategically important city of Caen in Normandy, France, which was heavily fortified, making it difficult for the Allies to advance. The battle began on June 6, 1944, and lasted over a month, marked by intense street fighting and heavy casualties on both sides. The Allies finally captured the city on July 19, 1944, despite suffering heavy losses. The victory allowed the Allies to break through the German defenses and advance towards Paris, but the city of Caen was left in ruins, with most of its buildings destroyed or severely damaged. - Zábava
These brickfilms just keep getting better and better, the combination of Blender-animated builds with physical sets has taken these videos to the next level! Keep it up!
if today's movies were like that... but it's always all digital effects, not that Brickfilms didn't have
its so amazing!

It imedeatly caugth my Attention because i live rigth next to the City of Caen, in North-Western France and thankfully Not all of the buildings of old are destroyed and the City is far better Preserved than most cities in Normandy.
Freaking awesome work! Love your stuff man, always such a treat :D

Just the simple tank designs alone deserve an immense round of applause, much less everything else! Your talent is literally going through the roof of every chart imaginable, mate!
Isnt it cobi?
@@wojtekl5264
*It isn't cobi, the creator of these brick films made it all from lego.*
@@SCP--fj2jr I still have one of those older COBI ww2 Tank sets at home. It's a German Panther Tanks (which so very happens to be my first and so far ONLY COBI set I have). I do plan on eventually buying some of the newer and more up to date COBI Tanks sets just as soon I find the perfect one....
@@jamieolberding7731 I have many of them. They not only fill a big void left by Lego, but they are just as good quality as Lego and offer some unique pieces and building techniques. If anything, Cobi manuals are even better than Lego. Highly recommended.
@@SO-ym3zs Thank you. LEGO may have somewhat sloppy instruction manuals..... I mainly buy LEGO sets so that way I can build some of my favorite spaceships (mainly Warships) from some of my favorite science fiction TV Shows such as Space Battleship Yamato, Star Trek, Babylon 5, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, The Expanse, Firefly/Serenity, The Last Starfighter, Space 1999.... and rarely Doctor Who.
Geez… this is literally the best brickfilm I’ve ever seen! I’m speechless
I think your stop motion animations are very good in there own right! JD bricks and LCM brick show are killing it with quality content!
He lcm brick i am fan of you channel and of jd brick amazing
Yo
You know it is well done when you can recognize the actual tanks and planes and name them without being told. Very accurate modelling.
I love the attention to detail and realism, like how the AT round ricochets off of the Tiger Tank and into the facade of the building behind at 2:50.
Everything you make is just amazing❤
This is looks incredible, it almost doesn't even look like stop motion because of how smooth it is, fantastic brickfilm!
Very well said.
👍👍👍👍😄
Couldn’t agree more.
at 3:35 - 3:36 ,if u pause it correct you can see the blood trail behind the decapitated head flying through the air. Such a small detail that you wouldn't notice unless you just happened to pause it by accident. So much passion went into this. Amazing!

Lego stopmotions, one of the things that will never die out on youtube
You even included little details like the actual German tank gunner sight! Your work is incredible! I'm so glad there are people like yourself keeping the art of stop-motion going!
Caen was a miserable battle for the Allies but ended up a strategic success as more and more German resources were poured into preventing a breakout there by the British and Canadians. This helped the Americans to break out at Cherborg and eventually ended up with a far worse disaster for the Axis at Falaise Gap where huge chunks of their armies were annihilated. RIP to all who fought and died there on both sides.
D-Day was a strategic success. Caen saw the strategic bombing of Germany interrupted to provide close air support in a tactical solution. Any time you forfeit a strategic priority in favour of a tactical one can be considered a strategic loss.
Please, don't ever stop. This was nothing short of phenomenal! 🇺🇸

That was absolutely incredible, the attention to detail, the pacing, the sound design. If I was told that there was a Lego WW2 game coming out and this was the opening cinematic, I wouldn't doubt it for a second. Excellently done. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I cant begin to describe how insanely good these stopmotions are they create such a chaotic atmosphere and depict the true carnage of war. Cant wait for more videos!
Me too
Honestly, this is top tier animation : its stuff you'd only see in movie studios like ILM not so long ago. Crazy how creativity knows fewer and fewer bond as technology spreads and becomes more available.
I mean this is like the 90s without crazy Si-Fi ruined by digital.
Nothing can compare to classic mascot maquette
animation? technology? dude this is stop-motion, take thousands of pictures until the images moves, lego stop-motion has been a thing for years
@@thefarter6462 Don't be silly, you know what I mean. There is so much more than just putting photos one after the other with this video. If you actually looked behind the scenes, you'd see the author uses a 3d software to modulate certain effects, and that the transitions between the frames is oftentimes smoothed with computer help.
My father was an Allied Combat Major in WW2, he was on D-Day, then Caen, then Market Garden and was later on, one of the first officers into Bergen Belsen camp.
As a child my father took my mother and I, on a trip around many of the places he had visited in the war. Since then I have returned with my own family to view these sites more than once.
A great deal of work has gone into this video ... Well done, it is impressive.
If this sort of thing helps younger people to realise the utter futility of war and the immense sacrifice of all soldiers, on all sides, in all wars ... Then it is a good thing.
Yeah and muh father saved private Ryan bro. On the internet I'm also an astronaut
I am glad you educate your family about your dad's history. I also hope videos like this remind us how terrible war is.
@@FantadiRienzoand my dad is actually Joseph stalin(I am not even from europe)
This brought such a huge smile to my face, as well as insane amounts of nostalgia. When I was in grade school, my best friends and I came across an amazing Lego Star Wars Stopmotion channel (I hate myself for not remembering the name), and we developed so much love for Legos and the art itself. Watching this now brought me and those friends back to those days, when all we did was build Legos and use our imagination, not stressing about day-to-day existence.
Please keep doing this art and hopefully provide others with that same core memory unlocks like you just gave me and my closest friends!
I got chills watching this video, the effects where made so fitting. The little blood splatters instead of red knead, the smoke that went out of the tanks, the bombers in the sky. I was really immersed in this story and got chills in the end. I felt sorry for both sides, like i got sad of „dying“ lego figures:,)
Also how at the start the bombing has no effect on the military and just destroys the houses and church :-(
True.. We feel sad because we know that actually happened during WW2.
The stylized lego puppets kind of work / act like therapy puppets - being that stylized and simplified we can identify with them very easily.
So the horrors of war come to life instead of it actually looking very „cute“.
Seeing it made with legos which we all actually know from childhood from peaceful times makes it unstetteling
Wow the ricochet at 2:49 tearing a hole in the building is such awesome detail. Keep up the good work JD!
0:06 I heard (fuck you!)
Bro i didn't even notice that until you said it! This guy's good.
You have managed to visually and audibly remake the crunch of a shell crumbling the side of a tank into scrap metal successfully. You deserve an award for that alone 🎉
These are the type of videos that give you enjoyment every time you watch it. Even though you watched it over 100 times you still enjoy it like it’s new!
When I saw your older animations like "Battle of the Somme" or "Battle of Omaha Beach" I thought they were the best stop motion videos on CZcams, but since then you've gotten better and better with them every video. Every video you upload I think it's your best, but the next one just gets better! You are the best stop motion animator I know and I think you will sty it for the rest of your life.
Great job dude!

Ich bin beeindruckt! Großen Respekt! Ein großartiger Film!
Your videos are great. I wish you would upload 4-5 videos a week so I can see more.
these videos are hard to make, and besides most channels on youtube dont even make 4-5 videos a week so i dont even know what you are asking
@@Iason29 true
I did stop motion in college as part of my film degree. It's 24 photos per second. And this sort of animation has things that need to be photoshopped out like wires. There's also planned camera moves and focus pulls that need to be programmed and tested. Takes a very long time to make just a few minutes and that's if you make no mistakes.
@@Feintgames That's right, we do the same as you. But we are a team and each person will be in charge of a different task, 1 person will write the script, 1 person will prepare the props, 1 person will draw the storyboard, 1 person will edit the video, voiceover, 1 person will upload the channel. Usually 1 video will take us 7 days to complete.
this video takes a couple of months or weeks, you are kidding me?
4:10 a true hero.
The soldier at 4:27 fr just looked at the destroyed artillery cannon and still shot the enemy like he could win
Watching these just makes me think of how hard this must have been and the fact that i would never have the patience to do this. Like how
This deserves to win a Lego Oscar for best everything - I swear some of the shots look like actual WWII footage, like the shots withe bombers flying over head in the background and troops moving on the ground, and the shot at 2:03 with the panzer III (or might be IV) reversing as german troops move forward to take up defensive positions. Definitely going to be revisiting this very frequently!
It's a Panzer III
The moment when You realize that a Single stop motion is more realistic Than a million dollar budget videogame.
This one was so good especially the tank explosion effects. I also hope to see more ww1 animations
This is very much the best stop Lego stop motion I’ve seen in a long while
Is Not Lego
@@humorboys9969 well that’s what it says in the title..
But I before I argue about it, now that I look close I see that it ain’t entirely made out of Lego.
Even though I am convinced to be able to read the „Lego“-Logo on a few bricks.
An example for this might be a frame in 2:05. (tank viewed from the right flank, it’s a peace on its tower)

Than it is the best brick stop motion i ever saw.
This has got to be the best one so far! The stop motion mixed with the cgi aspects produces a stunning animation. The urban environment gives me Saving Private Ryan vibes. Keep up the good work mate. 👏
3:36 if you slow mo it you can see the commander of the tanks head come flying off
Nice touch 👍
Brutal
0:40 idk if it was intentional but the bombs jiggling a little were a nice touch I think.
This honestly has to be my favorite WW2 stopmotion and I’ve watched almost all of your videos I love the guerrilla warfare close quarters combat and yea just my favorite video
All the explosion, hull penetration, and blood effects were so freaking good with this one
The whole Brickfilm looks like a moment of a movie... they just keep getting better! I cannot believe how long this must’ve took!
Better than all the Lego Movies put together will ever be. That was absolutely brilliant stop motion work, loved it! 💯
Everytime I watch one of these, there is always an improvement
As a war thunder player and WW2 enthusiast, it makes me so happy seeing the distinctions between the American Stuart, the Matilda and Sherman @1:33
XD that is a Cromwell, the Brits stopped using the Matilda on large scale after the African campaign in 1943
Dude at 2:51 is absolutely chill about all this commotion
This is a masterpiece!! Everything is epic, I could go on and on... the animation, the set, the minifies, the combat scenes, everything is so amazing!! Awesome job, this is better than most real war movies I've seen!
Massive respect to people making stopmotion films.
Great work! 👍
You may be wandering: why is there almost no civilians out? Well, there is an absolutely massive salt mine that they hid in for most of the battle. It still exist today. Most of the citizens went to hide there.
I like how a lot of your battles were small bits or skirmishes of a battles because battles aren’t something that happens at once, battles are made out of many skirmishes
This brickfilm was the best I've ever seen 😎😎😎👍👍👊👊👊
The amount of details and work put into this is absolutely insane, amazing job.
I'm not the only person who noticed that his builds have improved. Like how he uses wand for tanks and brown treads to symbolize soil/dirt. The style for animation the Tank turret being shot off is now improved and drastically different. Good (I meant by GREAT) job Jordan!
The Battle of Caen was a very traumatic part of the liberation of France, particularly given the devastating allied bombing before the ground advance destroying 70-80% of the city. Well done in depicting this.
As Someone Who Has Enjoyed Legos Since The Early 1980s I Can This Was Truly Awesome!
Insane work. I loved how every explosion threw real bricks as debris. So much attention to detail! Phenomenal job!
Boy, I tell ya, you've got some talent. It's impressive how you can manage to have so many things happening at once in a format so limiting as Lego stop motion, and also add these special effects, visuals, and even voice acting. Respect.
Was it really stop motion? I assumed it was all CG given the smoothness, and it's impossible to shoot debris flying through the air like they did here in SM. Plus, it would've taken thousands of hours to shoot SM in 24 FPS or higher, as this whole vid was done in. Not to denigrate CG animation, this is incredible work either way.
@@Zircillius ye so the exploding bricks were edit but the rest,, fucking hours of frame by frame animation
Oh my goodness, this is the best lego stopmotion ive ever seen!!! The animation is so smooth and the blast effects are even better!! Good job Jordan Durrenberger!!!
This was extremely well done. Appreciated by someone who did stop motion Lego movies himself. My favourite was the guy with the MG 42.
I honestly love your videos. The smooth animations coupled with the absorbing depth in which you portray your historic battles really makes one perceive them as something akin to reality.❤
This is incredible. I had originally thought you animated this completely on a computer (which still is technically Stop-Motion) or something, but when I was looking through the comments, I found out this is actually Stop-Motion. I probably didn't even have an Idea of what it was, but I should have. The Stop-Motion is so smooth.
Millions of captures were involved herre.
This is incredible! I cannot believe this is the first time I’ve seen a Lego film. I still am in awe at how the movements are so crisp and clean. I love how you swapped out heads to allow the Lego men to talk.
Would love to see the Tiger tank scene from Fury recreated in Lego! Now that I’m thinking of it you could literally recreate any move scene with Lego. The possibilities are endless and so is the list of scenes I’d love to see you make!
Once again absolutely amazing work! This took a ton of time to make which I can greatly appreciate.
Holy comoly, this has gotta be the best stop-motion video I've ever seen. So smooth and cinematic.
This has to be the most underrated Lego stop motion channel I've ever came across, the animations are🎉🎉🎉🎉 perfection ✨✨sound effects are GORGEOUS, and the CGI is just.. MWAAH

I love the design of the Tiger 1
It’s simple, yet detailed. It’s just satisfying to look at
Absolutely stunning work. It’s gonna be one of the most creative and well executed piece of animation I’ve ever seen. And the fact that is Lego makes everything even more astounding
This had my attention more than some full length war movies, incredible scenes. The sound design is great really puts you in the action
Apart from the top notch, impeccable stop motion, insane editing, and sick cinematography, I like how you have started introducing a more realistic aspect of the war, with more random casualties, unexpected action, and a terrifying touch of the true horrors.
I like every single detail of your videos! And the fact that you have a store, it was my dream! Good tank design!
I love that the lego people are always side-profile when shooting lmao
These videos get more realistic and more realistic by the video! This is so insane how you do it, and I appreciate the work and hours you’ve given for us fans, i remember battles like Dday, and others, but when i try to watch a reenactment, they are always poorly made or I feel bad for the people. Now I can watch them without feeling bad, and these are beautifully made! I love the moment at 1:16, which is so realistic, and I love you so much and the time you put in these! ❤
I actually can't believe how smooth the animation is. Outstanding job!
Amazing work...absolutely astonishing!

Can't wait for the behind the scenes video to see all the hard work that went in!
Amazing how the tanks and building are real lego👏
Nothing short of miraculous, simple incredible & a lot more accurate than a lot of Hollywood's WW2 movies. Loved it.
Fantastic work as always JD, you’ve really captured the mayhem of a thin slice of the battle of Caen. Keep it up!
Amazing work. Caen was one of those battles that in the 80s a lot of historians tried to revise the reputation of, and said was badly fought and clumsy; but I am pleased that modern research has agreed with the original wartime statements of just how heavily defended it was, and that the Anglo-Canadians performed incredibly well under the circumstances put in front of them.
British intelligence failed them
You can play on this map in the Roblox game "WW1 trenches"
@@nonope7592 it was due to a panzer division keeping them on the beach allowing time for the germans to build up defense and i believe they even cut off the british from the canadians for a bit. This and the added fact it was d-day so supplies were already thin it was a recipe for a hard time
I like the fact you showed that the destruction was from the Allied / American.
You have to strike hard, I agree. At Caen, we can still see the scars on each building. But Montgomery is know to have approved to keep the airstrikes on Caen even after the Germans left. « Just in case »
Because of that, they are both grateful and resentful of the American and specially Montgomery.
did the americans bomb caen also? i thought it was just the british
@@crumpetcommandos779 Yeah they did

Idk if y’all know this, but it takes a lot of time, effort, and energy to make a good stop-motion. I’ve made a few myself, spend many hours on em. They end up being a little less than ok. This man is incredible and is very good at being consistent. I also love how we get to see this battle from the perspective of the soldiers, as well as the civilians
Incredible skill. The drama, storytelling, pacing, and effects were fantastic. Hot damn.
Sublime, genius, innovative and above all else, showing just the kind of magic that can be made using LEGO❤
That was Incredible. Being a brickfilmer, I can’t imagine how terribly long that this took to make.
Amazing work! Effects, blood, military technic - such an impressive animation! Keep up the huge work!
Amazing, thank you for all that hard work. This should be an Oscar category all by itself.
Every time i watch these they somehow get better and better
This is amazing you have improved a lot! I love that it’s a little more fast pace when I feel like some of your older stop motions are…to smooth lol to the point where it kinda feels unrealistic but I think you have found the perfect pace it’s not so fast like brick dictator but it’s not to slow. And of course there we’re thousands of other ways it was amazing but this is a big one I saw
This is beyond words.
Easily my favorite stop motion you have made.
