  • First time i had speed wobbles on a bicycle, if you ever hill bombed with a skate you'll be familiar with it, that's why I'm pretty certain of the cause, I need to test it but I'm gonna make 100% sure this never happen again. To give proper context (it's not like it's the first high speed descent I do with this bicycle) this road bike fork is a replacement part due to jumps and urban intense use that ended bending the old one which also ruined the front wheel hub, smashing over and over again the direction system, but the replacement didn't fit like a glove probably due to being old parts and also internal small damage. Just this week it happens I loosen the main fork nut, the reasons of which i will not explain to avoid extending too much here but the main thing is with the fork nut loosen only with built up momentum when braking with the front rim calliper the whole steering tube started shaking internally, I thought it was manageable as the g forces where practically the maximum I would ever do riding super steep downhill at urban terrain, and if anything just a scare under control that would tell me the limits of this very very smashed road bike system. But never calculated this limits would appear rather at high speeds in open road inducing the "death wobbles" that counterintuitively gets even worse when trying to use force to correct the handlebars shake.

      Ima 170 so i could be wrong but taller sizes like yours benefits from the 700c wheel size standard, you see the frame sizes indeed change but they put the same wheel size so what i've seen is they push forward the seat post angle (from the bottom bracket) to make room for the wheels in smaller frames, rather i like the seat post balance of a bike to be as much over the rear wheel as possible so what i've seen is that big guys look for smaller sizes but then appears another problem that i recommend you to really watch out that is that the foot doesn't hit the front wheel when turning the handlebars that is kinda dangerous

      @@Huurhunmat Well yeah there's infinite details that matter but if you ask me I use every day bicycle with pretty steep uphills and dangerous heavy traffic so i've had really tuff moments with a bike so when I go to an elite bikeshop to buy they don't understand the needs as a matter of fact the whole industry itself is limited in some engineering aspects to my particular needs, so instead what i'd ask you, first of all, is what's your "ideal" expectations of your next purchase? What is your "ideal" use specifics you want your next bike to fulfil? And in order of priorities like: easy gears for steep uphills or a good looking but discreet design for urban areas etc From there we could translate in engineering language what actually you need and trickle down what boxes are checked or not amongst the product models on the market, that's why "ideal" is so important at the end of the day you can always improve your mechanics like installing better parts, i do it all the time, but the starting point, that is the bike model you decide to buy, will determine not only to fulfil your most important needs, after all the perfect bike doesn't exist, but also the capacity to adapt them or customise them in the future

    jo isaac nice ride. i have the same problem with my fork. i got a ahead adapter and because my fork shaft was just a smidge too small, i had to smash the adapter in. so even if my Nut gets lose, i never have wobble because the ahead adapter is stuck and is holding it in place. i also carried a wrench so i can tighten it but now i just tighten it by hand every once in a while

      Thanks i also got an ahead adapter it fits ok but it's the stem diameter that I got wrong 😆 luckily i bought once a expensive Cinelli stem that came with a metal cilindre to fit normal ahead stems into thiner ahead fork tubes. I don't know today i tightened the nut but felt that the stem was still like percussing inside every time i brake with the front wheel, I might pushed the stem too far down perhaps (the stem tube shape gets thicker approaching the 90 degree bend) but this braking vibration started when I loosened the nut for sure very recently, i can't say yet it's 100% this what caused it because honestly it's a miracle this second hand road bike has stood cyclocross-like smashes for many years so will see, it would be really awesome to put it flying 60 + km/h, only thing is that i have to remember to not ride without hands as the ballbearings are totally crushed there's no free movement and more than once almost went down like a rookie 😆

      Why the narrow bars?

    • @IsaacRC
      @IsaacRC  Před měsícem

      @@MatthewBlue-yg1wkOh mainly because it's the only handlebars i found that where 100% straight without any weird bend for classic stem diameter (narrow) but also it comes handy for comfort as in urban riding one tends to stay mostly seated a closed angle of the arms helps with body stress etc
