How to wash and dry your down jacket - product care

Here are our tips for washing, drying and reproofing your down jacket. Down is a great natural insulator, but when it gets dirty, overly compressed, or wet, it loses some functionality, creating cold spots. And if its waterproof, dirt can compromise that functionality too. To help your gear live a long life and perform at its best, proper care is important. Shoud I use a normal detergen or down specific detergen for synthetic insulated jacket?

For my old down jacket (has no water resistant layer) I used a delicate liquid detergent for wool but they already have fabric softener. For goretex only goretex dedicated washing products

Potentially, it could be damaging. If the jacket is of the thinner type, you can fold it, and place inside a large garment wash bag. That’ll prevent direct contact with the agitator, thereby limiting the likelihood of damage.
