- During six weeks, seventeen Legionnaires are in French Guyana to do a commando training course, one of the hardest organized within the 3rd Foreign Infantry Regiment based at Kourou.

Interesting documentary. I toss around the idea of joining every now and then, sometimes i hear and see things that encourage me to, sometimes I hear things that make me feel like I couldn't do it. Guess Ill figure that out when I do some growing up, only 17 right now.

Question: If I was charged with a misdemeanor for drug paraphernalia in the U.S. over ten years ago, will that prevent me from enlisting in the French Foreign Legion? I have no felonies and am not a drug user. If anyone knows the answer to this question that would be much appreciated! Thanks.
Man that is some hardcore training..those guys looked like a bunch of shipwrecked feral bums with assault weapons@ 4:00. They must have lost hella weight living of fish beetles and grubs in the jungle for 6 weeks with hardcore training...FFL is no joke
Thanks. How old are you? I will be 31 in December which is technically old for enlistment with the Canadian military. I don't know about US army or any other Royal Crown union regiments like New Zealand, Australia or England (but I wouldn't want to go to those regiments anyway). The legion recruits people between 17-40, so if you are not 40 yet and you really want to you can do it (if your health is in tact). I served in Israel's Border Guard 3 years, and we did similar things like in the video

I saw some seals at the zoo once, I think these guys are a bit tougher than them, the seals might be better swimmers though!!

@ClesmacioLuque You have to go to one of 12 selection spots in metropolitan France. They are open 24/7/365. Joining the legion is impossible outside the metropolitan France. check legion-recrute on internet.

@Adomiso If 4 pull ups is really hard for you forget about being a solider. Loose weight. Notice not one of these guys was a big douche. Big muscles don't mean shit. Compact muscles and skinny shape is the way to go for endurance.

My response is i Never mentioned that The Us military forces were weaker then the french it is true that the U.s forces are stronger my I only mentioned that the legion is the best trained N skilled military force in the world N are more skilled then any U.s Elite force. The Legion is based on 8000 Men so ofc they them selve dont stand a chance against a much larger Army. They are ordinary humans :/
Heavylifter Gotta say u watch too much tv mate :) USMC is first on the front And then it means only at war, The legion Have 3 kind of soldier Navy seals Terrain soldier N Parratropper N the are much more skilled Then a USMC N a Navy seals Only higher skilled Socoms can be compared. N USMC is simialar to the legion only the american version N only for citiziens

If it is fortified correctly the object is to blockade he beach head so that landing craft cannot access the beach, forcing the crew to be offloaded into the water and make them easier for u to shoot. La legion española es muy buena, pero estos tios tienen el entrenamiento de las antiguas BOEL(banderas de operaciones especiales legionarias) asi q no insulten ni digan q la legion española es mejor q la extranjera puesto q la española esta basada en la extranjera. viva el tercio de la legion española y viva la legion extranjera francesa.
