And Wowser look at all the growth!!!
Lovely🇨🇦
I miss the days of you in the garden with the girls or Nate. Planting and learning. I guess things have to change.
omy beathful people love watch you two learn so much thank you so kind god grace is with you/s
The food crawl sounds like so much fun
It was so much fun
That date sounds so fun!!
We are excited
Oh the crisp of that pickle made my heart sing...and my mouth water
Well jill good to see your video today. Just saw you on you tube at the homesteaders festival last week end with Jes and the two ladies from faith homestead and freedom song..ok I think you 4 ladies are my Fav. Look forward to more content. And that high tunnel looks FABULOUS!! one thing I’ve notice is a lot of Christian homesteaders and that’s so wonderful.
Girlie, I would love some of your rain. It hasn’t rained here, NE Mississippi in a couple of weeks and the heat is through the roof. Heat index yesterday was 112, today is 107, tomorrow is 106. It is unbearable trying to get any work done outside.
Thanks for showing us what your up to.
Blessings
If I have to date things I usually ready after instead of the date I put them up. It saves counting up later.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Add bay leaf to keep veggies crisp. Bay leaf has tannins which keep things crispy when fermenting and picking. Even yellow squash stays crisp.
I'm praying so hard for rain. It is hot and dry as heck here. It was 106 today......like what!
Those tomatoes look like stinkin trees. I love your little tunnel rainforest
We freeze dry cucumber slices and love them as crispy snacks. They are delicious plain, seasoned with salt & pepper, or seasoned with a variety of spice combinations.
Great to know, thanks for the feedback
Love Nates hair.
Humble request for tshirts…I wear a men’s 3XL. Sometimes tshirts aren’t made in the bigger sizes. I am willing to pay a few more dollars for these sizes and really want a Whispering Willow tshirt. Anyway, just thought I would put a bug in ur ear. The high tunnel looks absolutely amazing!!!
I'm going to check with our T-shirt guys and see if we can find some that offer those sizes
@@WhisperingWillowFarm oh my goodness y’all are so sweet. I completely understand if it isn’t doable. Thank you!
I’m so glad you said this, I also wear a bigger size and It’s so exciting when I can actually wear shirts from content creators that I love!
Yes please! I can wear the 2x but it’s kinda Snug. I’d love something a little looser… I love representing!
I wish some of that rain would move west.
I’ve never seen Nathan without a hat he looks so different!
I clean up now and then
Questions: do you have any idea how one could do a similar trellis system as yours in the high tunnel for the peppers but outside?? Also, when you take cuttings for the eucalyptus, can you make a vlog of it so I can learn?? Would love to learn to grow eucalyptus!! Thanks Jill!
czcams.com/video/6vqRMKOxaW8/video.html
Hi! I wondered who take care the homestead of Jess and there you are! ❤️💖 I just watched your video and I'll definitely support you. ❤️👌
Hey! Freeze dry the pickles and then grind them into a powder. Add to fresh popcorn! It’s unreal!
Yum great idea
Also I thought you need a rain catchment system for the high tunnel
We have plans for one
Thanks Jill for sharing tunnel looking fantastic!
Love the shirt!😊
June is so sweet and beautiful. You can’t help but smile from ear to ear when you see her. She’s also got gooooood taste like mommy and daddy! :o). There’s nothin better than fresh fruits and veggies. Please tell her we love getting to see her and you guys!
🤩 wow look at all that beautiful harvest 💕🙏
You wouldn't believe how Great fresh leafy dill tastes in pickles
Awesome
Hey buddy
Check out Nathan’s hair! Looking good brother!
Love the sound of rain! And beautiful garden
Omgosh!!!! I want to know how freeze dried cucumbers work out!!!!
With the aphids Trying by a whole bunch of ladybugs they eat aphids
home grown cucumbers are one of those veggies that are not at all like store bought. like most !
The greenhouse looks great! The pickels look great!
Thank you
I would love to see a flower farming vlog, It would be so lovely to see all the beautiful flowers.
I watch CZcams to chill after work, not really to learn most of the time, though sometimes you have some really practical efficient ways of doing things I find interesting.
Unfortunately not much gardening is fitting into my life at the moment as I am focusing on other things, here in Australia after the floods.
My garden at our flood effected property has self seeded and is growing great without me.
I go there to pick cucumbers and the tomatoes look like they will produce in winter.
It's the wrong season for those plants, but the plants but they don't seem to think so.
Food Crawl! Absolutely! Can't wait to hear about it!
I love what you guys do with your lives. Thank you for sharing. Such an inspiration
Hello Jill and Nathan that sounds like a lot of fun enjoy.
OMG your greenhouse looks gorgeous love how your cucumbers are looking will try that with mine.
The pickle tip for cool brine is golden, next batch I make for sure I will have to try.✊🏻🌻❤️
I love growing eucalyptus we used to make wreaths out of them ,beautiful, and love the fragrance
💚 So much you covered in this Vlog! Thank you, awesome looking pickles! 💚
You will love freeeeze dried pickles. I personally don't like FD fresh cukes, they make me cough, it feels like they suck the moisture out of me... however, they are good to use in the recipes for sauces. FD sourkraut is excellent!
Good to know
You may want to looks into Himalayan pink salt. It is much more eco friendly and ethical to buy American mined salt. Salt mining in Pakistan often has child labor.
We just ordered 10# of Redmond Salt
@@WhisperingWillowFarm Good for you!
My harvest today was chive blossoms and lovage. The lovage is in the dehydrator and the blossoms are in vinegar.
So happy for you and all your rain, enjoy it 🙏🏻and the food crawl sounds awesome 👏🏻 can’t wait to hear about that.
Very awesome harvest you are all off to a very good start I love watching your videos with the family 😊🙂🙂
I love cucumber from my garden and I would plant multiple cucumber plants because I can just dice them up and eat it all day long.
Your greenhouse is AHmazing looking & I love your & Nathan’s relationship 🥺
I believe those numbers on the fermenting lid are for the day of the month (1-31) that you made your ferment. I have those same lids and at first I did what you’re doing and then it dawned on me that it would be much easier to set it for the day I made it vs turning the number every day. Just a thought.
Yes I believe you are correct 🤣
Excited for more fermenting info.
Hi Jill I love your set up in the tunnel. What is the size of your tunnel and the beds that you use inside it? I have a 24'x48' one coming in a couple months and am thinking I want to do raised beds inside it as well. If all goes well then next year i'm goin to add a 24x96 to the mix.
I seen you say you are about to do shirts again. Please give a 4x option my husband and I would love to have one and Jess or y’all offer only to 3x. I like mine big not form fitting.
Lots of T-shirt brands don't offer those sizes but I'll ask our rep
What do you use for fertilizer?
Working on a video explaining it all, stay tuned
I use a sharpie marker to write the dates on my jars. It washes off very easy after you are done with it.
I really like your fermenting videos for sure.
Hey yawl, Mike & Rochelle here in central Texas. We are friends with Dom on Faith Family and we found your channel. Looking forward to watching how you homestead. We have a small homestead here and have been gardening for over 30 years in the Texas heat. We subscribed to your channel and looking forward to fellowship. God Bless, Mike & Rochelle
Hey. I cant wait to check out your channel. I just popped over to it and subed. I'll have to watch a few. In a little bit. Best of luck and

@@rainfalls2964 Thanks, we are very new. God Bless
@@centraltexashomestead-mike4956 I clicked on the latest one. Very cool. You give recipes in your description. 🌱
@@rainfalls2964 Retired chef 29 years, we will be doing lot's of cooking.
Hey guys, thanks for checking out our journey. Mrs. Dom is such a sweetheart. I'll head over and check you guys out
The size difference was amazing can't wait to hear the data!
Hi, first time watching your vlog from sunny England. Love the pickling ideas. Not something we do very often here in the UK but willing to give it a try. Youre farm is amazing. All the best for the future. Will definitely be watching again 😀 xx
Thank you for the positive feedback and welcome to our journey
☺️ just love hearing your updates...whoa those peppers are huge
What's up SoilBrotha and SoilSista! Ha... I love it here! That greenhouse OMG... My husband is so pumped about picking especially watermelon rind. Lol! We are currently doing Canning/Preserving 101 lives to help education ourselves and our subscribers safe and proper way to can and preserve. Lol! Exciting. Many blessings to you both we appreciate you and all you do SoilFamily 🥰
Love June she’s adorable
She's the cutest and knows it
I just love yall! And I loveee how hands on Nathan is....great job!
I did some cucumbers last year in my freeze dryer, plain and ones with ranch dressing powder and I will always do them with ranch and dried dill weed.
Great advice, thanks for sharing
Y’all are so adorable
Thank you
Use black tea, grape leaves or oak leaves with your pickles. The tannins keep the pickles crisp.
Good to know! :)
I love that your property looks like you live there. Not picture perfect but still your place
I’m really interested in more info about succession planting I’m in Oklahoma it is my second season of gardening I’m adding new veggies each year. I am so excited about all the amazing info from you it has been so helpful since we are close in zones. I am also now canning and needing to boost my production for a family of 6 I have have always cooked from scratch but now working hard towards a dream of self sufficiency from seed to table. Thank you for all the hard work and love you put into your channel!
You could reconstitute the cucumbers and put them on salads!! I wonder how that would work.
Love y’all’s relationship and videos
Thank you ❤
Everything looks beautiful dear awesome. You all are such hard workers . GODBLESS you all
Thank you ❤
do you can those things after the process ???
No after 10-14 days they go in the fridge to stop the fermentation process
@@WhisperingWillowFarm wher do you get those lids?
We buy all of our cumcumbers for pickling from a local farm....Duris Cucumber Farm (Puyallup, WA). They say that a grape leaf in the jar helps to keep the cucumbers crisp.
I've heard this before
Jill strange question but what grow pro are you vlogging on?? It’s such a clear sharp picture
Hero 10
All my homestead video people are complaining about the rain, but every rain front that has went through the last couple of weeks has went around me. So I am having to water every 2 or 3 days, which is going to hike my water bill up sky high. So you all ate blessed to be getting rain.
Oh no, hopefully you get one soon
My mouth is watering for some cucs; mine are only an inch long now!
Ya’ll make me smile; love is so evident! Blessings and may God multiply your time!
By the way-Nathan, I like your haircut!!
Thank you
Hey Jill/Nathan, whichever sees this, got a quick tip. The fermenting lids, turn the dial to the date you want to try them to see if they are finished rather than moving them everyday to keep track. ;)
Thanks for the tip
Id like to know more on you techniques for growing sunflowers. I cant keep the deer off mine and the bloom when they're only 3 ft high.
you two are so cute and have such a beautiful, healthy relationship, I would love to hear more about your story together like how you met and your journey together so far 🥰❤️🔥
Loved the vlog and you guys are the cutest.
💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Thanks
I love you all and the way you guys share your family and so much to help us in our gardens! Your plants are all so healthy! Could you help us sometime by sharing all the things you do to create healthy soil… what kind of amendments you use, what you do and use if you see diseases or pests and anything else that would help us grow beautiful, healthy, nutritious veggies and flowers like y’all’s (maybe in a live so we can ask questions?) I’m older and my brain seems to be a bit foggy. It would help so much to have a step by step that I could take notes from and apply to my little veggie patch here! I can’t tell you how much it means to me to be a part of this community and to feel like a part of your family and farm! I look forward to each new video and savor them with all my heart! Thank you all so much!!!
Stay tuned, we are working on a video explaining all the things we do to keep the soil alive
@@WhisperingWillowFarm oh my goodness, thank you so much! :)
What part of AR do you live? I lived in Conway for 14 years
Right outside of Conway
What a cute date idea!
My guardian angels name is Katrina! I almost fell off my chair when you said her name👍🏼💜😉🌸💜
In Ohio and my goodness that high tunnel 😍😍😍 can't wait for my plants to take off. I will say I grew determinate tomatoes inside this year during winter and they've already fruited and yes they actually tasted like a tomatoe unlike the store bought lol
Bt is for caterpillars, not aphids. It works on the larval stage of insects, which aphids don't have.
BT is not effective against aphids. Jill may have misspoke or it is just the force of the water spray that is knocking them off. Giving the plants a hard spray with water is usually the best first line of attack for these nasty little pests. If it's really bad, I then go with Neem oil. Used ladybugs to good effect this year in my small greenhouse - was so happy they had them in stock at my local nursery this spring, much preferred to using anything like Neem.

you prune your cukes to one vine? How?
🙋hi from Scotland hi guys wow your farm is amazing I can't believe how fast all you vegetables have grown I am going to try the pickling my cucumbers the same way slough you would laugh if you could see the difference between yours and mine , mine are just begining to climbed up a cane they are do small to yours but it's early here in Scotland as we are not into summer yet so they will catch up ,your wee june is so cute take care till next time cheers 🍷 Anne from Scotland
Hey Mrs. Anne
@@WhisperingWillowFarm hi Jill your farm is looking just amazing take care Anne from Scotland
Succession planting is the only way I get squash, cucumbers and zucchini.
I cannot find a "Eating with Jess" did I get it wrong?
Eating_with_jess
I enjoyed the video as always, no matter what your doing!
hugs from pam and john way to go iam new to channle
Welcome to our journey ❤
Jill, if I'm not mistaken, isn't BT is just for caterpillars and worms? The high tunnel looks great!
Have you ever thought about cloning flowers by using rooting hormone on the cut stems? I'd like to see you do that!
It's been talked about
You can tell your man adores you.
She's absolutely beautiful and I can't take my eyes off her
It's said that if you FREEZE your produce BEFORE putting it in your Freeze Dryer it will take LESS TIME for the dryer to complete it's task. Also, you should RECONSTITUTE a few just to show your audience if it should ever be done with _Cucumbers._ Nice Vid, be blessed!
Do fermented cucumbers taste different than pickled cucumbers? I need to do more research on fermenting (or just wait for your course :) )
They taste the same if not better
@@WhisperingWillowFarm thank you! Growing cucumbers for the first time this year and I'm anxious to try. Your plants look beautiful 😍
