If you are from a country that requires a tourist visa to enter Colombia, it is important to note that the Colombian government requires proof of a steady income through bank statements, your monthly income must be greater than $13,000,000 COP (approximately $3,000 USD) for the last six months. Si la persona es estadounidense no necesita una visa de turismo para visitar Colombia, si el aplicante es de una nacionalidad diferente, el tiempo dependerá del lugar en donde se presente la solicitud. Un proceso de visa estando en Colombia tarda entre 20 a 30 días (El tiempo puede incrementar si el ministerio te solicita información adicional).

The investor visa does not require you to live permanently in Colombia. However, in order to avoid losing your migrant visa, you can't leave the country for more than 6 consecutive months; you must come for a few days in between. In order to obtain a work visa, you must first have a job offer from a company that meets the requirements established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Here are two key requirements to help you understand how easy or hard it may be according to your particular case (there are other requirements that may apply):
- Motivation letter from the employer, stating the suitability, functions to be performed, the training that the foreigner has for that occupation, reasons for not hiring a Colombian citizen, and the number of direct jobs generated by the company.
- Bank certifications in the name of the employer for the last four (4) months, showing an average monthly income of one hundred (100) Colombian minimum wages (approximately 32,000 USD).
