I watched a bunch of tutorials, read a bunch of books... found this video and... what do you know, I can island strum and improve with practice!

Very helpful, thanks. My island strum doesn’t sound natural however, and I find myself having to mentally say “DD U UD U”, which occupies my brain and then I can’t sing along for example. Any suggestions for how to get better?

Strumming patterns come with playing time, so continue to get in time and don’t think about it.
