    Another beautiful one from Slash with Myles is Starlight.
    Not even sure which version to recommend. The studio version has the emotional power of Slash's guitar, but the MAX sessions acoustic version, has Myles at his peak and it's one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard.

    Slash is a guitar god. Some guitarists think all they need to do is "shred" (basically, playing lots of notes fast). Slash can definitely shred, but he also changes it up to play more meaningful notes, at various paces. And he knows how to mix (a) what the ear expects to hear, with (b) what the ear doesn't expect to hear. In fact, the first time you hear some of his solos it sounds like he is hitting the wrong notes at places, but after you listen to the solo a few times you realize that they are perfectly selected notes.

    Something that I think is kinda funny about a lot of guitar solos is that often the guitarist will play several different versions in the recording studio, improvising a bit each time trying to see what works for the song, and then the band and the producer may cut and paste different parts together to make the final version that goes on the album. The guitarist will then have to study and learn that Frankenstein version of the solo that was created to be able to play it in the future.

  • @maxzero9647
    @maxzero9647 Pƙed 2 lety +6

    The same principle applies in martial arts: Don't practice until you get it right. Practice until you *can't* get it wrong.
    Also, a lot of guitarists will improvise over their songs to give them a different feel in concert.
    Also also, yes, guitars are all different. Fret spacing, body weight and shape, string thickness, neck length, action height (how high the strings sit off the fretboard), bridge type, other hardware, electronic components...all affect your playing in one way or another.

    Slash released a solo album in 2010, and Myles Kennedy (vocals) from Alter Bridge contributed to it... Slash wanted a solo band to tour, and Kennedy made the cut... and he got a truly remarkable band w/ the Conspirators - Frank Sidoris (guitar), Todd Kerns (bass) and Brent Fitz (drums), who recorded his 2nd album 'Apocalyptic love' in 2012... and all subsequent Slash albums.
    They would play Guns N' Roses songs in concert... but after Slash & Duff McKagan reunited w/ Guns N' Roses in 2016, Slash eased away from performing GNR songs solo (He had 3 solo albums, 2 Slash's Snakepit albums, and 2 Velvet Revolver albums to play from, a 4th solo album '4' just came out)

      Also, Slash is very loose with his live playing. All his stuff sounds like it should, and as you know it but he doesn't seem to restrict himself to playing it the same all the time. Sometimes you hear him not quite hit the note he wants but he moves right on and sometimes just flat out improvised solo parts. He is a beast live and gets better as the night goes on. Just saw him 2 weeks ago and the most complicated solos he did 2 hours in. SIDE NOTE - Myles Kennedy is a great guitar player, and Slash has been known to say that Myles is a better player than he is

    Yes, guitar players make mistakes...the good ones know how to cover them. There's a saying that the NEXT note determines whether the one you just played was right or wrong. (Yes, I play guitar). Also, it is not unusual for solos to be a bit different each time they are played...sometimes the player is improvising his solos on the spot instead of trying to perfectly repeat whatever they recorded (not all guitarists try to play everything exactly the same every time). Sometimes, even if you ARE trying to repeat a recorded solo, you will get a cool idea or be inspired mid-solo and end up doing something a bit different (or you will play something wrong and find a good way to make it work). If the solo comes from the heart, it changes with the feelings of the player (this is common in blues playing, for example, since blues guitar is all about what you are feeling).
    I hopes that helps!
    God bless!!

    Guitar is just one of those things that just comes natural to some people, after doing it for so long it's no longer or no need to practice a song he just listens to what the sound is and just plays naturally with the beats and the rhythm. Not orchestrated or planned he just does it.
