INTENSE THUNDERSTORMS 🌩️⚡ Southwest Finland | 1.6.2024

June seems to pick up where May left; heatwave and thunderstorms. Lots of cloud to ground flashes again and constant thunder rumbling.

It's amazing how a small storm cell can produce so much lightning. In 4 years of storm chasing I've hardly ever seen small thunderstorms give lightning to this myth in France. Great capture :)

The thunderstorms have so far completely avoided hitting Helsinki, but I just managed to film/spot some thunder over the sea (yes, at 1 in the morning, lol). Unfortunately I didn't have my camera to capture a "dry" lightning that happened by the central railway station. It looked awesome.

The season is still young so I'm sure that Helsinki will get its share of thunder. There's nothing wrong with filming thunder at 1 in the morning 😄
