    Two weeks ago I released a video that has become the most popular video on my channel so far, "The Most Useful Lick I Ever Learned" ( ‱ The most useful guitar... )
    We're going to take that lesson to the next level in this guitar lesson video.

      Hi Blue, very helpful! Is there a video connecting major to minor? G to Bm example.

    • @GuitarLessonsVancouver
      @GuitarLessonsVancouver  Pƙed 6 měsĂci

      @@ssdelmar Not sure if this is what you mean but this is a common way to use major and minor pentatonic, especially in blues and rock. Major Pentatonic on the I chord, then Minor Pentatonic on the IV chord. I have a video about that here: czcams.com/video/K9QdVkZIxAo/video.html Or if you mean connecting the chords with a scale, you could use this as a launch out of a G major bar chord and then just grab the Bm chord which will be nearby. This video doesn't do exactly that but could be easily adapted to: czcams.com/video/-IsaY00TUcw/video.html

      I agree 100%. There are a lot of YT lessons. A lot of them are good but Blue is a real teacher. That is a gift! I learned to play 6 monts ago. All from YT channels. I played things that sounded nice but I didn't understand the whole spectrum of what I was doing. Till I found the Blue's channel. Suddenly it's like a messy puzzle where the picture is showing up and the missing pieces are reached in an understanding way so it fits together and I can remember it.

Having said that I didn’t get my own until 1988 self taught having stolen licks and phrases over the early years. I stalled, could play but could not advance until I found the holy grail of teaching yes you I have advanced more in three days than in my whole guitar playing life!!!!! Suggestion, would like to see a video that breaks down different embellishments, extensions added along with different intervals/dyads used for color and transitions. Some popular rock examples would be great too!
    I find knowing CAGED system and Pentatonic boxes helps connect this together, because each major and minor chord form has an underlying scale. When you know them, you know what notes are playable for each chord.

    Hey Blue, in the last little while I've watched a bunch of your videos. As a lot of other people have said, your teaching method is absolutely fantastic. You've got a great way of presenting simple, yet powerful, ideas and making them stick. You've helped me make some sense of my fret board after 30 years of being a self-taught punk rock guitar player. In closing, you're awesome and thank you for your efforts.
