Two weeks ago I released a video that has become the most popular video on my channel so far, "The Most Useful Lick I Ever Learned" ( âą The most useful guitar... )
We're going to take that lesson to the next level in this guitar lesson video.
More info about Blue Morris and his books like "Guitar Soloing Like a Pro":
www.bluemorris.com/shop - Hudba
Today's video expands on a previous one called "The Most Useful Lick I Ever Learned" here: czcams.com/video/ZXIvF2ARZxA/video.html
Your videos are rapidly making me a better guitar player. You're the best guitar teacher on CZcams, very practical lessons that I can apply to playing and songwriting. I hope your channel gets huge, thank you!
Hi Blue, very helpful! Is there a video connecting major to minor? G to Bm example.
@@ssdelmar Not sure if this is what you mean but this is a common way to use major and minor pentatonic, especially in blues and rock. Major Pentatonic on the I chord, then Minor Pentatonic on the IV chord. I have a video about that here: czcams.com/video/K9QdVkZIxAo/video.html Or if you mean connecting the chords with a scale, you could use this as a launch out of a G major bar chord and then just grab the Bm chord which will be nearby. This video doesn't do exactly that but could be easily adapted to: czcams.com/video/-IsaY00TUcw/video.html
I've learned more from 2 of your videos than I have surfing CZcams for the past 2 years. Much appreciated thank you!
Awesome that's what we like to hear. More coming every Saturday
If you learned that much from this guy, you're a horrible guitar player. Give up
I agree 100%. There are a lot of YT lessons. A lot of them are good but Blue is a real teacher. That is a gift! I learned to play 6 monts ago. All from YT channels. I played things that sounded nice but I didn't understand the whole spectrum of what I was doing. Till I found the Blue's channel. Suddenly it's like a messy puzzle where the picture is showing up and the missing pieces are reached in an understanding way so it fits together and I can remember it.
Exactly the same 4 me
Dude, I have learned so much from you! Iâm normally not one for leaving comments, but youâre playing and method of teaching has literally change the way I think about guitar. Thank you so much for all your videos.
Thank you!!! Glad to hear it and thanks for posting!
I've learned so much from your videos that I allow even 4 or 5 minute long ads to run so that you get paid. Thank you!
Thank you!!
I very quickly hit the subscribe button. I didn't know it was legal to use the blue note with a major chord. Plenty of people out there that can teach you how to play a song. This teaches you how to play guitar.
Cool! Welcome to the channel. More coming in the new year.
Never watched you before but I immediately clicked with this idea.
PERFECTLY EXPLAINED!!!
Thanks.
Welcome! Thanks for watching. New video out every Saturday
Youâre style is like fresh squeezed orange juice. Thanks
Some vitamin C for ya đ
15-years ago I asked my guitar teacher how I could move fluidly from rhythm to lead and back again. Thank you for answering. Something I'd love you to expand on... more rhythm licks. Playing only on the one is perfect for this lesson. But 1 or 2 bar rhythm licks would add so much. Wishing you great success with your channel. Subscribed.
Thanks Steve, glad I could help. I will think about a video with more rhythm playing licks for you :)
Hey Blue, I watch a lot of instructional guitar stuff and you have a great way of explaining things. Extremely well done
Thanks very much Dennis!
You have the greatest technique of explanations I have ever been exposed to.
Ive been around a guitar since I was a kid (62years old) dad had a 57 tele, he bought my older brother a fender newporter so I was exposed. Having said that I didnât get my own until 1988 self taught having stolen licks and phrases over the early years. I stalled, could play but could not advance until I found the holy grail of teaching yes you I have advanced more in three days than in my whole guitar playing life!!!!! Thank you for providing your teaching skills to the masses Im blessed to have found you on CZcams
Tom
Wow thank you Tom that's great to hear! We have lots more coming for you đđ
This is one of the best lessons I have ever seen: at the end of the video you say that chords and scales are taught separately usually: totally agree. Thank you so much for posting this lesson. Amazingly clear and informative lesson!
Thanks for watching. Chords and scales together helps so much.
Your teaching method is so intuitive and 'easy' to follow. It's not about memorizing every note and chord - well done!!!
Many thanks! Lots more lessons like it on the channel and our Patreon www.patreon.com/guitarlessonsvancouver
I think playing chords and single notes is the ultimate of playing guitar, not only is this a great lesson for that but it also allows you to make up your own licks and melodies, your teaching style is first class.
Wonderful thank you!
I really like the way you teach...I think you have a gift; most videos are hard to follow. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the great feedback. More coming soon
So glad I found your lessons, Iâve been stuck and struggling, the two lessons on chords and how to tie them to licks are very good, would like more of the same please
Thanks John. New lesson every Saturday for as long as I can keep it up.
Another absolutely fantastic light bulb turned on lesson. Thanks so much, your insight into understanding and teaching is amazing. I jumped up at least six months in my guitar learning journey with these two videos!!!
Cool thanks Dennis! Lots more coming to the channel and our Patreon www.patreon.com/guitarlessonsvancouver
A big lightbulb just came on! Thank you.
Great thanks William đĄ lots more videos coming
Again, just what I was looking for. Thank you from a fellow Vancouverite
Thanks John!
BEST GUITAR LESSON EVER. This got me out of the rut I've been in for many years.....can't believe how much I learned from this. Amazing,
Fantastic! Thanks ERose. New video every Saturday
You are right. I NEVER see videos on how to tie it all together like this. There are scale videos and chord videos, bits and pieces, but not how to actually use the together and play some music. This is the sort of stuff I need to know. Thanks. Got more of this stuff?
Thank you! Lots more lessons like this on the channel and our Patreon group www.patreon.com/guitarlessonsvancouver
@@GuitarLessonsVancouver Cant afford it. I am old school musician. I barely am 1/2 step up from living on the streets. I have no money, none, only 2 guitars. I can not afford a damn thing.
@@michaelcraig9449 No prob. Lots more coming to CZcams here as well :)
Awesome, Love how you connect Chords with licks, I have been trying to understand the concept for Years and now I have a clearer understanding of it in a week, Practice on ,Yes, Thank you so much, Im looking forward to more clear lessons Happy Christmas to you
Thanks Leslie!
when you speak it's not too fast and not too slow... you seem very friendly... your just a good teacher and I feel like you can take a beginner type and LAUNCH them into inermediate type....me like... đ
Thanks for the great feedback Larry!
Hi Blue, another amazing lesson, perfect place to pick up from the last marvellous lesson and tie it all together. You should know that youâve really hit on something here as this is exactly what so many of us âalmost intermediateâ novice players are needing and looking for. Another long Sunday practice session ahead, beautiful guitar as well! Thank you ever so much!
Awesome thanks S Y!
Just wanted to second this comment.
Just having someone spell out what seems obvious after the fact, but giving us those aha moments once the fog lifts!
Very helpful and clear lesson. It is crazy how obvious that is once you are shown. Wonder why I did not link/notice the connection earlier.
Good point, others have said the same đ
Thank you sir! I have been playing for 50 plus years and you just gave me an AH HA moment. Made me subscribe. Keep up the great lessons.
Wonderful! Thanks for subscribing lots more coming
3:35 pm and I've seen and feel improvement on my guitar practice following your teaching, very thank you
I appreciate you giving some practical ideas along with a chord progression to work with to glue it together. It'd be great if you keep building on this. Suggestion, would like to see a video that breaks down different embellishments, extensions added along with different intervals/dyads used for color and transitions. Some popular rock examples would be great too!
I find knowing CAGED system and Pentatonic boxes helps connect this together, because each major and minor chord form has an underlying scale. When you know them, you know what notes are playable for each chord.
Thanks for the suggestions. There will be some videos that touch on those subjects in the coming weeks :)
Great lesson....and great tone from that tele
Thanks George!
Good stuff. The more I progress on guitar, the more it comes down to just digging farther into the basics and knowing just different ways to play the basics really well.
Well put, thanks for the comment.
Danke fĂŒr dieses und alle anderen Videos ! Du ermutigt mich enorm und erklĂ€rst Theorie auf sehr verstĂ€ndliche und praxisnahe Weise. Und du frischst noch ganz nebenbei meine Englischkenntnisse wieder auf :-)
Great to hear, thanks Rene
WOW! Talk about an eye opener. This is starting to make sense.
Cool thanks for watching, more coming this Saturday.
Sounds good. Iâm listening. đđ»
Thanks for watching!
This is the first time I am staring to understand how to improvise over chord changes instead of just noodling in the same key and hitting chord tones when i get lucky lol. Thx
AMazing lesson!!! between this and the last video I think this is the best single lesson I have ever seen and it took less then 45 minutes combined. You are a great teacher. Look forward to checking out your book
Thank you!!! đ
Iâve learned something just from having these playing in my work truck. Iâll def watch them again when Iâm at home tonight and my two boys 3 & 5 finally make it to sleep. You should break down a buckethead song or 13
Cool, thanks for watching. Hope you enjoy playing these connections.
Cool lesson, thanks Blue.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks Blue, there's incredible value in your lessons for someone like myself, the beginner/intermediate/hopeful đ
Keep up the good work, it's appreciated!
Awesome thanks Nathan!
2:12 I love your lessons. They are so well explained and demonstrated. Please keep them coming
Awesome thanks Henry. I plan to release a new video every Saturday for as long as I can keep it up.
Great lesson thank you đđ»
Thanks GusRock!
Wow! So much is starting to click and make sense!
Awesome thanks Michael!
Years I've spent on my own trying to crack the notes to chords code. 17 minutes with you on this (and your previous "The Most Useful Lick..") video and everything is as clear as day. You've opened up an entirely new 'fun window' on guitar for me. You have an incredibly straightforward teaching style. And... a new fan in me. Immense and sincere thanks.
Awesome, glad to hear it helped! Lots more coming to this channel and our Patreon.
Thanks. Just the lesson I needed at this point
Thanks for watching Garth! More coming this weekend.
Blue, where have you been all my life. Your lesson here and the previous one (The most useful lick I ever learned) is what I have needed for so long. I cant wait for whats to come on this channel
Thanks Philip! I hope to do release one new video each weekend.
Wow! Finally made sense of it all, you made it simple where others donât .. Iâve watched hundreds and hundreds of videos. Your a great teacher! Thanks đ â€
Great to hear! Thank you! I'm hoping to launch a Patreon with more content like this very soon.

Muchas gracias Blue. Fantastic lesson.
Thank you for watching and commenting!
Awesome stuff! thanks so much Blue!!
Thanks Garth!
Hey man, just came across your channel. Although I'm already familiar with this, you do an excellent job explaining clearly connecting cords using this pattern. I wish I found an explanation this clear years ago. Subscribed. Happy holidays! Cheers!
Awesome thanks Charles!
Hey Man love to hear about that AXE.... Has to have a 5 way!!!!! KILLER... great lesson
It does. Strat pickup in the middle, five way switch. Get some unique tones with that one :)

Thanks for watching Marc!
Grande Blue!! Buenisimo!!! Very useful, excellent
Gracias José!!!
New subscriber to your channel. Just wanted to thank you & say how incredibly helpful your videos like this one are.
There are a ton of talented guitarist instructors on CZcams, yet bizarrely it seems youâre the only one whoâs offering these videos where you show exactly whatâs going through your mind when soloing. This is the dilemma many of us face, so please keep these types of videos coming.
Itâs as if the other instructors either donât understand the value in this, or theyâd rather pick a topic & not deviate from it.
Thank you! That's great feedback, I have been trying to do just that -- describe what I'm thinking -- and others -- when we're soloing, especially soloing over the changes. More like it coming to the channel and our Patreon www.patreon.com/guitarlessonsvancouver
Great opening tune
You're the most innovative guitar teacher on the web. You have a unique insight into things which
make sense, things which are hiding in plain sight. Thanks!
Cool thanks Joseph!!

excellent - thanks
Thanks new video every Saturday
Very useful. Thank you for sharing đ
My pleasure đ
Great lessons thanks you again always đ
Thanks for watching!
Great lesson Blue. Thank you. Your last lesson was great as well. You touched on a piece that would tie it all together for me in both lessons but didn't expand on it. I think you called it thirds. You connected the chords with 2 note tones.. I love that sound and would love to learn more about it. Thanks for these great lessons.
Hi Paul, for sure I will make a video on thirds. I'll put it on the list. It might be a few videos later as I already have a couple lined up, but I will do a couple videos on that because I think it's such an important thing to know how to do on guitar. Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks!
Wow thanks very much Ray!

Hey Blue, in the last little while I've watched a bunch of your videos. As a lot of other people have said, your teaching method is absolutely fantastic. You've got a great way of presenting simple, yet powerful, ideas and making them stick. You've helped me make some sense of my fret board after 30 years of being a self-taught punk rock guitar player. In closing, you're awesome and thank you for your efforts.
