    Beautiful! This is the best, clearest and most detailed video for moccasin making that I have found on CZcams! Thank you so much for sharing it! ❤

    Very interesting! I've made several pairs of Frontier mocs and Apache boots, but not low mocs. Same principle as a Norse Turnshoe. Thank You so much for this video and information, and sharing your skills. Skal

    Those were beautiful moccasins. I use hemostats to pull the needle through leather. Have you ever tried them? They are a little easier on your hands in stubborn places because they lock in place.🤗🐝❤️

    How are you threading your sinew? Is it doubled or did you split it first? Knoted at the end?

    • @jhorsechief
      @jhorsechief Před 4 lety +3

      It is split and then doubled. Depending on the thickness of the sinew I sometimes split it in 3rds. I also use beeswax on my sinew

    Is there any way to send a list of the materials and specifications for the leather and cowhide used? I’ve never purchased leather before so I don’t want to purchase the wrong thing.

    Thank you Mr. John HorsChief. Excuseme, howlong is the upper part pattern? As long thefoot is?

    • @wahzhazheculturalcenter7546
      @wahzhazheculturalcenter7546  Před 4 lety +3

      The upper is approximately a 1/2" longer on the toes and extends to about 2 inches past the heel. After you sew up your heel trim off the excess

    Which side is the rougher side? When you turn it right side out, is it the felt side or the shiny side?

    • @jhorsechief
      @jhorsechief Před 2 lety

      Felt side is the rougher side or flesh side. The shiny side is the outside of the animal where the hair was

    How do I add a durable to the moccasins?

    • @jhorsechief
      @jhorsechief Před 2 lety

      What is a durable?

    • @jhorsechief
      @jhorsechief Před 2 lety

      Do you mean the sole of the moccasin. We use vegetable tanned rawhide for our soles and when they wear out, we replace them. It depends on your use of your moccasins. If you wear them on grass and on dance grounds they can last several years. If worn on concrete and in an urban environment they will wear out much faster.

    Beautiful craftsmanship Sir Chief. When assembling, you say to put the rougher side out, is that the suede side or the smoother side?

      Yes, it is the same as the Women's moccasin but the Mens style has a tongue added and a drawstring.
