im so glad they never showed what v looks like. it made this movie so much more pure, how evey falls in love with him without even knowing what he looks like.
My personal interpretation is that V is crying not because Evey is leaving him alone, but mostly because after all these years, when he's finally a few months away from his death and from leaving behind a world of corruption that has absolutely no value for him, she comes into his life and changes it all, giving him something to live for when he didn't need it, or maybe didn't want it. He's frustrated more than lovesick
Well said. V may be a monster on the outside, but he is still a human on the inside. Seeing him cry made me feel frustrated alongside V, as I know that feeling all too well...
My interpretation is that Evey gave him something to live for and then left, and that tortured V. The way he talks about his plot, especially this "equal and opposite reaction" bit, it's almost like he feels that he's obligated to carry it out, even if he maybe doesn't truly want to. And then Evey came along and all of a sudden he had other options. But then she left, and the only thing that remained for V was to go through with his plot. I seriously wonder, if Evey had stayed with V, whether he might have decided to abandon his whole suicide/vengeance idea.
+thehistoryfreak13 Agreed, I habour a lot of sympathies for v's character but he IS very intent on his end game, and this makes him ruthless. Irelevant of the reasons behind his torture of Evey, She would be insane to want to stay with him. Though he is intent being the catalyst for a revolution and freeing the people from the constraints of a brutal and oppressive government, it is ironic that he subjects Evey, the one person he cares about to an imprisonment and torture that she has no say over. V knows he is deeply warped despite his culture and charms and I think this is one of the reasons he knows he cannot continue beyond the rebirth of the nation. He irretrivably damaged by his actions.
That's my interpretation as well. He is going through with his plan with or without Evey but suddenly he's in love with her, she's the one thing he never expected to happen but he still must go through with his plan. Plus he's a monster underneath that mask he knows there can never be a future. Basically letting your loved one go.
I think V is crying because he has choosen to die to sacrafice himself for his cause, but when he meet Evey he finds that he wants to live, live for her, to be with her but he has already made his choice and thats why i think he's crying for what could have happened, becasue he's in love with her.
Beautifully said, I see it the same way. I believe V has come to understand why Evey thought the ending of the movie they watched together was so sad, with the character living for a cause rather than for the woman who loved him. Her reaction seemed to confuse him at the time, because until then, his ideals had been all that mattered and he had never let anything or anyone come between him and his vendetta, but Evey has also become important to him and is suddenly making him question the life he's chosen. Now being faced with this unexpected chance to have his love returned and seeing how differently his story could end, he's finding himself in the position of the hero who can't have both what he wants and what he believes in. He stands firm by his decision despite how he feels, but I think he's grieving for all that he's renouncing by making that final choice to put the cause above everything else.
What makes V a truly relatable character is that I can steal his line to say exactly the same thing about the hundreds of songs in my iPod... #foreveralone
I think V was crying over everything: Valerie, Evey, himself, and the corruption that the world had come to. Very powerful scene. It shows that he is human after all.

FIrst off: watch the movie. Second: by shaving her head and stripping her down to nothing, in the metaphorical sense and physical, she lost all sense of vanity and self worth. He had to break her down in order for her to build herself back up. He cried, because he had never anticipated falling in love. He was content to carry out his plans and die for his cause. She made him want to put it all aside and live, but he knew that he couldn't.
I like how people express different opinions on why V cries, but it seems to be very clear to me. Take note of when he exactly cries: right after Evey leaves *and* he takes off his mask. He always lived for his ideals, his beliefs. Putting the greater good in first place. It's poignant that he said to Evey just before, that "she found something else". And so did he. He realizes he loves her, her purity, her strength. It shows a certain frailty after taking off the mask, symbolizing that he is human still. Someone who found personal happiness after everything. Happiness he can never have. Maybe not necessarily because of his deformity, but mostly because of his role in the greater scheme of things. He's so close to reaching his goal, to deliver the country from oppression. He can't go back, he can't have a life with her. And that's exactly what he's mourning. This movie is so underrated. It's one of those movies I think everyone should see in their lives at least once.
I mostly considered it as a response to what he'd done to her too. He did torture her, didn't deny it and is aware of it - he told her himself that he didn't want to and wanted to stop multiple times, but still continued for the sake of freeing her from her fears and realizing that life is not as important as the values we hold in it. Living is only worth it if we have something that we want to live for. Without that life would seem pointless and empty, just living to survive when we all want more. Family, friends but mostly for ourselves - our opinions and thoughts, our identity. All of this was suppressed in the movie by the government, so in essence, V taught Evey to value and hold onto her values even if it could cost her her life through harsh and cruel circumstances. He said that he had hoped for another way to bring her to that realization, said he didn't wanted to. He had to torment her almost the same way he and the other prisoners were tormented. The fact that he had hurt her and that he became just alike his tormenters in a way was probably too much for him, especially since he didn't wanted to. He chose between two options - her hating him, him tormenting her, for her to aquire the courage to be herself and represent what she values - or her continuing on being afraid and easily subjectable to the government without freedom. It kind holds up to the "people show their true face or only show a form of extreme development when put in a dangerous situation". She had undergone an extreme development, from obligation to the government for her survival to the courage of standing in for herself, her values and everything that determines her. What V did was extreme and is inexcusable, but it reached its goal and making Evey see more than surviving and rather more the actual living that we can enjoy (mostly depending from person to person). The other points about V's crying make sense too; him in love with her, the realization of his death and that he could finally have something else in life that he never had before.

I thought he was going to ask her to dance, in this scene... he turned on the music, he brought it up, with his simple eloquence. I'm so glad he got that dance, before the end... :,(
Exactly! In other movies you're always falling for a characters looks first. But with this it pays to be observant. You have to guess the way he's feeling with his body language, the way his voice changes. Like in the scene where Evey is on the balcony and says god is in the rain. You notice the small tilt of his head, the way he seems frozen in place admiring her, loving her, remembering, and regretting. Everything seems more powerful. Which I agree makes his character appealing, alluring & sexy

It was only when he was at his closest to completing his plan that he cared about some else and not just his need for revenge. It's all so sad how you can just feel his frustration with himself. He put so much work into his end goal and it's always something you never count on that changes you. Evey finally made him a man and not a monster. And I. His death where she tells him she doesn't want him to die I think deep down it was what v always longed for. Someone who just simply cared about him. In a world full of absolute evil and vile corrupt he found something so pure. It's all the more tragic.
Beautifully said because she had feelings for him as well I just wondered what would happened if he didn't hesitate and stayed with her but of course still blow up the building and kill the chancellor

his revolution or vengeance could have deleted with being alive if v had choose to be with her about his physical deformation yeah y are right he is ashamed to show her his burned face and body he is very insecure about his burns but if he had find the power to show her his face if evey had loved him he would have accept him about his outside appearance
When you love the movie so much, you watch multiple videos on it just to hear it be praised, and you keep delaying it because you hear there isn't a fully fleshed out romance, but you finally cracked under the pressure and read the graphic novel. And it was amazing.
He cried because what Evey said was right. No matter how good of a cause he was fighting for, he still did some very questionable things which makes him a monster. I think being brutally told that by soneone you've come to love hurt V more than those bullets during the last fight.
notice how he breaks the mirror after he removes his mask and sees his own face. Shows how insecure he must be feeling about his body. he also didnt let evey remove his mask towards the end.
I feel as if V cried for Evey, but also for the fact of what he’s done. V never planned on calling in love, he believed he couldn’t. It’s amazing when you find someone and you get too attached to them. What broke my heart most was the fact that he most likely planned to be with her forever, but he had to carry out his plan. 💔
When I first saw this film after it first came out, I knew V and Eric (Phantom of the Opera) would get on well. Both masked disfigured men who have an over abundance of charm wit and smarts, not ignoring the violence though. Both eventually fell in love with women they couldn't be with....so sad and heartbreaking.
THIS makes me feel so sad, knowing that the overwhelming rush of human feelings (mostly the love he feels for Evey) the anger in his veins, and that He has already chosen his fate and can't go back makes him cry.. Real human tears.. it makes me so sad
So the movie never shows V's face because he is a representation of everyone who is oppressed by their government or anyone who is taken advantage of and this adds to it because whenever you have a moment to get personal with V, it's cut short. Like when he's crying or when he dies, that way you forget to get emotionally attached and feel sorry for just V as a person, so that you don't forget that he isn't just one person, he is everyone and that's the same reason you never see his face.
I think because she left him, he probably still felt terrible for how he hurt her and because he finally realized that he loved her and that his mission had taken her away from him.
God that had to be the saddest moment in the movie V crying god I felt his heart ache when she left....god dammit I wish she could have just stayed with him for the rest of the year....😭😖
when i Saw this movie for first time, it was amazed. I never thought that The sale V had planned all this plan. I hurt a lot as Evey suffered.I thought that Creedy's man had kidnaped and all...when she and V gathering again, that scene was very emotional...of course when i Saw this for first time i was very dissappoiment with V, but when i got older i understood this Point of view. In a twisted forma was a sign of love because he loved her.
That's a mark of a truly great actor. It's why I was so impressed with Tom Hardy's portrayal of Bane. We never saw his whole face, but he was able to convey a tremendous amount of expression with only his eyes.
I think it's interesting how the movie portrayed their relationship as romantic whereas the novels made it more of a father-daughter relationship. I think both versions are good and make sense for the story because Evey lost her parents at a young age for rebelling against the government and through V she sees the same spirit which is why she seeks companionship from V and puts her trust in him despite everything
He is crying because because he is a monster, not only physically but psychologically also. That's where all his frustration comes from and that's why he cries.
V cries because evey says "and they created the monster!" V can't say anything about it.. oh my.. i watched it 10 years ago and i still love this movie
I thought it was because he knows his fate, and that ha can never actually be normal or have a relationship with her, because of what has happened to him, and because who he is and his responsibility to go through with his revolution. That's why there's so much emphasis on the mask, because he became what the mask entails.
@@zombiekillerdragonleader1475 but his outside appearance wont change its something permanently and he couldnt never had find the power to show her his true red burned face
Oh the crushing feeling i got after seeing him breakdown, when he planned everything to the point of putting his life away in the end, Evey comes in and he begins to doubt if he does want to live in this world that gave him nothing but suffering and his spending his life trying to fight corruption and after which he will have no role in it bc he will still suffer from vengeance and trauma
Not sure I agree. Several points in this scene, when she doesn't kiss him, the next time they meet when she does, and when she begs him to run away with her... He tells her he can't do it because she was right. They had made him a monster. It is obvious that he was weighing up what to do when she begged him to abandon his plans for revenge and run away with her instead, his telling her all he deserves is to die along with those who he intends to kill.. He felt his appearance gave him no choice.
Such a heart breaking scene to watch Vs only months away from meeting his maker by sacrificing himself to blow up Houses of Parliament to eradicate the UK government because he knows the government is greedy and corrupt then someone like Evie comes along and he eventually falls in love and already knows despite his feelings for her he can never be with her and he knows this which hurts him the most in my own opinion not because his meeting his maker on the 5th of November in the film but because his feelings and love for Evie have possibly given a new prospective on life itself but he can’t fulfil it with the woman he loves in some ways I feel like I can relate to V in a weird way theirs this woman I met a few years ago and I thought she was beautiful but I’ve only spoken to her a few times since then and sometimes can’t get her out my head and the whole pandemic going on right now doesn’t help either to be honest and the last time I saw her was months ago but I know deep down inside I probably won’t ever get to be able to tell her how I feel about her which really sucks so I feel like I can relate to V a little bit and it’s shit 😔 😔 😔 but still impressive acting by Hugo Weaving never showing his face throughout the film using only his body language and voice to keep the film going even without ever seeing the actors face you could feel his emotions which is impressive to say the least 👍 👍 👍

So beautifully said 👍😥
Beautifully said because she had feelings for him as well I just wondered what would happened if he didn't hesitate and stayed with her but of course still blow up the building and kill the chancellor
@@heavenpeck1506 he would never be able to show her his face cause it is burned

V cries because he loves Evey and knows he can never have it, reasons? : 1 / His revolution, 2 / his physical deformation limit him and he has insecurity. A great sadness : ((
his revolution or vengeance could have deleted with being alive if v had choose to be with her about his physical deformation yeah y are right he is ashamed to show her his burned face and body he is very insecure about his burns but if he had find the power to show her his face if evey had loved him he would have accept him about his outside appearance
When you love the movie so much, you watch multiple videos on it just to hear it be praised, and you keep delaying it because you hear there isn't a fully fleshed out romance, but you finally cracked under the pressure and read the graphic novel.
And it was amazing.
V cried for evey. :(
That just upset me so bad, he's always so courageous but here he displays human emotions and its sad D;
Funny because Evey and V always danced in the comic.
vanessa helsen ANOTHER ONE!!! Thank god I thought I was the only one who broke the comic
we need to have a comic talk where everyone who's read it discuss the book

He cried because what Evey said was right. No matter how good of a cause he was fighting for, he still did some very questionable things which makes him a monster. I think being brutally told that by soneone you've come to love hurt V more than those bullets during the last fight.
notice how he breaks the mirror after he removes his mask and sees his own face. Shows how insecure he must be feeling about his body. he also didnt let evey remove his mask towards the end.
@@tiaammar925 his face is burned the same he couldnt look his own face in the mirror
I agree with you
I've watched this movie over 100 times it never gets old. Hugo's performance was amazing.
She was the closest thing he has had to his love for years.
With body language and tone of voice. Amazing performance.
Like when he's crying or when he dies, that way you forget to get emotionally attached and feel sorry for just V as a person, so that you don't forget that he isn't just one person, he is everyone and that's the same reason you never see his face.
v never shows his face cause he is burned
I think because she left him, he probably still felt terrible for how he hurt her and because he finally realized that he loved her and that his mission had taken her away from him.
God that had to be the saddest moment in the movie V crying god I felt his heart ache when she left....god dammit I wish she could have just stayed with him for the rest of the year....😭😖
Otaku Chan I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels this way!
Man this scene was incredible.
I'm in love with him ❤️
One of the best DC comics movies
True go dc

Poor V, his tears reflect a deep sadness, it is a clear example in which he was human inside. It broke my heart to see him cry🥀
Poor V. I now see that whoever wears a full mask and never wants to reveal himself, it's a clear sign that he hurts the most
when i Saw this movie for first time, it was amazed.
He reminds me of the Phantom of the Opera.
* Gives V a hug *
There’s something about the way he says “yes.” that gets me.
Poor V :( I feel sad for him
He is crying because because he is a monster, not only physically but psychologically also. That's where all his frustration comes from and that's why he cries.
physically is burned
UGH I KNOW. It bothers me so much he was killed, Him and Evey are gorgeous together.
This movie was legend. Very deep and rich!
One of my all time favourite movies 🥺
Same
V cries because evey says "and they created the monster!" V can't say anything about it.. oh my.. i watched it 10 years ago and i still love this movie
in many ways v is the angel of justice
I thought it was because he knows his fate, and that ha can never actually be normal or have a relationship with her, because of what has happened to him, and because who he is and his responsibility to go through with his revolution. That's why there's so much emphasis on the mask, because he became what the mask entails.
Poor V...poor V...
that awkward moment when V left Evey alone in the streets in the book.
lels
His ideas were bulletproof. But not his love.
I love V💞💞
The only person V started to love was evey but when she tried to kiss him she couldn't and V now knows he can't love
Awww my lil Cinnamon roll V! I love himmm
I ship V and Evey so much D;
I love u V!!!!!! Don't cry, I'm here.. :(
The shot of the shrine to Valerie, with the roses, makes me sob every time. My boyfriend gives me roses bc of this movie haha
I love the emotional piano in the background when we see Valerie's shrine. Such a touching film.
That subtle yes has never been so great/powerful.
3:08 when your mom takes your computer while you are watching V for Vendetta.
I will always love her with all my heart .... For my heart 4 ever belongs to her.
What you say is true...but may people feel V on an emotional level. He's not just an 'idea'..he's "humane passion" incarnate... & anarchy as well.
I wish Evey would have just loved him.❤ Maybe a hug would have changed things. I want to give them both hugs.✌
You're right maybe things could have changed if they just told their feelings 😔😭
@@zombiekillerdragonleader1475 but his outside appearance wont change its something permanently and he couldnt never had find the power to show her his true red burned face
Such an emotional scene. Love it.
I always love you, V 😢🥀
2:00 that change in the tone of the music was splendid.
This Scene Had Me Emotional
Not sure I agree. Several points in this scene, when she doesn't kiss him, the next time they meet when she does, and when she begs him to run away with her... He tells her he can't do it because she was right. They had made him a monster. It is obvious that he was weighing up what to do when she begged him to abandon his plans for revenge and run away with her instead, his telling her all he deserves is to die along with those who he intends to kill.. He felt his appearance gave him no choice.
I love V.
Well said 🙏👍
Love the comments. Kudos to all you folks.
It's called good acting. It probably took a lot of practice, though, for Weaving to play the role so well.

it's weird how you can depict so many emotions out of a person even if you cant see their face
Thanks for uploading this.
Why did he have to die?!
Because it was his destiny and his choice. Even after he finally found love - he decided to fulfill his task. Such a great movie!
Lol
