  • Dibakar Banerjee takes us down memory lane as he relives the challenges, the euphoria and everything that went into making his first film, the 2006 comedy-drama Khosla Ka Ghosla. We also have valuable inputs from the film’s screenplay writer and creative producer Jaideep Sahni.

Anupam kher and Boman Irani were class in the movie. Also ranvir shorey had such cracking dialouges. "Kamaal hai yaahan pish**b thodi karne aaye hain"".😂😁 Also that hotel scene where khurana and sethi first time meet is so crackling. Loved the movie

Dibakar was the first to showcase middle class Delhi much before do dooni char/aankhon dekhi etc, after which it became a sub-genre of Hindi cinema. With groundbreaking LSD , he introduced the perils of technology in modern India via phones and cams. Has been delivering consistently good cinema in every genre , be it comedy (Khosla, Oye lucky), Drama (Shanghai, Bombay talkies, Lust stories), Mystery (detective Vyomkesh Bakshi). More power to him!

A little sad to hear no mention of Vinay Pathak. He is immediately the first character who comes to mind when I think of Khosla ka Ghosla, somehow.
That said, it was truly a gem of a movie, made at a time when such cinema wasn't at all appreciated in the industry. I can watch it any number of times with something new catching my attention every time. Thanks for the interview!

Absolutely. Vinay Pathak was the x-factor of the movie, the knight in shining armour who quiet unassumingly saves the day. Rewatching it recently I was struck by how little screen time he really has. But being a fantastic actor he made his mark in the relatively short span.

Such a brilliant film and so are the insights… however, I am surprised no one mentioned the role that Navin Nischol played - perhaps, his best role so far. May be because he was from my generation and having watched him in “Dhund” and a few other films of the past, his rendering of this role was surprisingly pitch perfect and I felt it was a standout performance of the film…

There are very few Hindi movies that have impressed me to the core! that I've enjoyed so much that I have rewatched it more than once and I still would not get tired if I watched again and again. Khosla Ka Ghosla is one of them! It is a movie that is well written, with so much depth, and made with heart and soul! A movie where each and every character (including the ones that had very few scenes) gave their 110% to their performance. I think they should re-release this movie and I'm sure it will touch a lot of audiences (surprisingly not many have seen this amazing movie) once again and become super duper hit! Dibaker Banerjee did an amazing job needless to say. Anupam Kher and Boman Irani should have won awards for their Super Acting!!! Thank you Film Companion for this in depth interview! Enjoyed it a lot!

So used I am to the cliched 'thank you-welcome' routine that I was completely smitten (in both senses of the word) with the philosophy of how he had changed as a person disabling him from owning the film and also, ever making a second part. IMO, there could hardly be a better way to end as you part with the audience whilst giving them food for thought and making them reflect on the interview, the film and the process of film making in general. Cheers!
