  • Mako and Julia, two visual artists, discuss Mark Rothko's writings "The Artist's Reality: Philosophies of Art" (Yale University Press), upon the book's rerelease in July. Mako was privileged to write an Afterword invited by Christopher Rothko (Mark Rothko's son and writer), reflecting in the Pandemic about nature of art. Such a journey lead to creation of new painting "Blueberry" series, currently on exhibit at Pola Museum in Japan. Julia's work also attests to process-driven expression, with a certain "plasticity" that drew many on her Instagram account in the past years.
This is a higher resolution than the previous post for public viewing.

Jonathan Edwards Art & Sense of the Heart & Rudolf Otto's Idea of the Holy both talk about the non-rational elements of "knowing"....about speculative as opposed to experiential knowledge. How do we know? It is a huge question. Appreciate this discussion!!!
