Could he create this work without any assistants? Yes, but many artists find their creativity is limited by space and time. Is the artist who designed the Vietnam Memorial not an artist because she didn't quarry, cut and polish the granite and carve the 50,000+ names by hand? Edit: Some artists can't even be in the same country as the work they create because of politics but their work is installed by assistants that follow the artist's specific plans and designs.

Media portray him as conservationist of marine life even National Geographic listed one of his work as wonder of the world..my memory doesn't help me at the moment to give more details on that. And then the underwater museum in Cancun in Mexico. I was fascinated by the number of the statues and their symbolism in this concept. Regarless, thousands of years ago artists were viewed as low-level craftsman for hire, like brick layers, instead of creators, like musicans. As a matter of fact, the names of most great artists of ancient greece were never even recorded. During that time, craftsmanship was about technical skills and doing it yourself. As art evolved it became more about ideas and less about craftsmanship, which turned them into creative geniuses. Long story short, those who build are craftsman, those who envision are geniuses.
