  • Norfolk Southern and CSX share an elevated section of track in downtown Dayton, Ohio. Both railroads provide plenty of action each day, making Dayton a great place for railfans to watch trains!
This video was recorded on June 28, 2019, in 4K using a DJI Mavic Pro drone. The audio was recorded using a GoPro HERO Session.

In the 60s these were really busy tracks. The loss of GM plants and paper mills have reduced the sidings to a handful of customers. Good thing it's a through route for NS and CSX. Cool overhead video! Thanks!

I miss Dayton so much. My Moms side from there: and I was blessed to live there a short time as a child (1989) and also as an adult (2006-2011) where I started my adult life. They call Dayton GEM CITY...and it is a hidden gem. Its a very nice place.

I boarded trains at the Dayton station when I was a child. We changed trains in Cincinnati, then road on to end in Birmingham Alabama. We were visiting my Grandparents. I loved to see the old photo of the station. I don't remember much more than the platforms. I do remember the whole Cincy station with all the mosaics on the walls and how you took the stairs down to the train tracks, which was different that Dayton where you went up to the tracks. I still live here in Dayton, so thanks for the video. Big thumbs up!

Great drone shots. I wish you could show more of the rail system around the Dayton area like where the line North goes into and around Old North Dayton that served a lot of industries like DELCO and the foundries. Then you have the rail yards off of Wagner Ford Rd and the rail yards South of downtown in Moraine that served all the old GM plants.

Yes, as a kid I remember Big Blue...Conrail being all over the place. You couldn't look up without seeing a Conrail engine in Dayton.

Great video! I wish Dayton had an online rail cam like La Plata, Folkston etc...

In the ‘70s, I’d sojourn to Dayton to visit the station, obtain Amtrak timetables and ascend the stairs to go trackside. In 1976, the “Freedom Train” was at station. It was most interesting to walk through the exhibit cars.

The buildings in the City of Dayton looks like a postcard but the metro areas look like a derelict slum with no trees, landscape or flowers outside the poorly maintained homes. The best thing my parents did in 1971 was to move out of Dayton.
