    Great video paul..I think you should do another car in your next video..as much as I love a lupo gti it would awesome to see you work on another car incorporating your quirky production style 👌🙏

      Yeah mate , it's like they get the originals take off the lens and just stick these ones on with no care ,and the originals physically look better made.

    How did ya' go Paul? Get it sorted? Still THE best sounding Lupo GTI ever,

    Lupo's had 10w40 from the factory, they never used 5w30. I use the Platinum 5w40 in mine and it doesn't use a drop! Do love your Lupo though!

      Thanks for that, I never knew? It does seem to run better on 5w40. Thanks again for your comment

    i would also check bottom end(con bearings and crankshaft bearings) + oil pump (cause of problem not sound)if bottom end gone bad then the head is the first that start make noise from oil starvation .i got an arosa with avy code engine from polo gti

      I think after all the scenarios , I think your right. Since the video i have had all the work done to the head and it's still the same. It's got to be the bottom end. I plan to do something about this in the future. Thanks for your comment, and yes I think you're right

    Hi Paul, are you sure it's the hydraulic lifters??, could be tilting pistons as the 1.4 and 1.6 16V's are known for it!

    • @samartzis2000
      @samartzis2000  Před 2 lety +2

      Really? Two mechanics have looked at it and one is a long-term vw mechanic. But I wouldn't be surprised if you are right. Thanks for your help

      @@samartzis2000 To me it doesn't sound like ticking tappets, does the engine consume oil??
      Of course i could be wrong, let's hope it isn't the pistons!

    I'm looking to get my heads done but could do with engine rebuild I'm on 178k miles! Any advice? I've got a 2000 plate polo gti too with same engine on 130k miles

    • @samartzis2000
      @samartzis2000  Před rokem

      Well I did get the camshaft lifters done , but it's still rattling a little and we've got roughly the same mileage and my mechanic says to get the bottom end done. Its expected at that mileage he told me. So I guess you can start enquiring about that. It shouldn't be that expensive for these cars. The polo gti is the same engine and if you've got a good one there then why not?

    • @DaleSteel
      @DaleSteel Před rokem

      @@samartzis2000 yeah I'm getting bottom end done the new uprated cams and polished head etc. I've just found out that the polo gti and lupo gti engines are cast slightly different so you can't swap them if you want to keep the lupos 6 speed box. Strange

    Hi mate I'm using 5w40, as 5w30 ruined my piston rings I think.
