  • A little video, but a big show; Tom and the boys had so much fun in California they almost forgot they'd brought a camera! Luckily they sobered up long enough to film some excellent pieces.

Watching this channel, it is clear now to me why I can hardly find good NS-relics here in Germany => all went to US as souvenirs , ,,collected,, 1945 by US-soldiers searching the houses. Maybe our KdF-car ( commonly known as Brezel- Volkswagen, production year 1938) which was confiscated from my mother, ended up also in America. She drove around in Bavaria ( film reporter girl for the Wehrmacht, but status ,,civilian,,) and got stopped by US tank suddenly appearing in the middle of nowhere. She was convinced in a friendly way to hand over the car = want some kiss and a cigarette honey? ... but to exchange one single kiss plus cigarette for a complete car was really unfair .. the car was her private property, not Wehrmacht !
Finally, I could compensate the loss of the car by selling to the US soldiers some ,,left overs,, like STG 44 and Lugers 08 which I collected from the woods in the late 1950th ( found by metal detector together with many ,,firecrackers,, like egg handgrenades, Panzerfaust aso .. was nice to let them explode inside old bunkers at the Siegfried line ( forest near city of Aachen) .. always big fun to watch the police showing up in great numbers .. but we were never caught). Now I'm an old man .. without KdF car and without STG 44 .. quite sad.
Best regards from good old Germany :-))

I'm sure our boys "liberated" a great many things they probably shouldn't have... not unlike the Germans in France!

@@WittmannAntiqueMilitaria I agree, the Wehrmacht " confiscated" many valuable goods in France and even more in Poland and Tschecheslovakia.
Although most of it was found in cavernes after breakdown of the 3rd Reich, some still remains lost. We have a group of " treasure hunters" here ( kept strictly seperate from hundreds of dreamers) with deep knowledge about the possible locations. Meetings of the " inner circle" are held 2 times a year. I personally traced a Nazi treasure comprising boxes full with Meissen porcellain, silver statuettes and jewel bracelets. Info came from an old SS-man. In the mountains around Berchtesgaden/Bavaria, 2 boxes containing " Reichsgold" are possibly hidden, quite reliable info.
Maybe you have heard about the search on a " gold train" in Poland 2 years ago. Nothing found, it was fake news = an agreement between german/ polish treasure hunters and the local tourist office :-)) .. worked prettily. All hotels booked out for a season.
Annother true story is about a plane full of confiscated french cognac. They flew out at night without announcement to the Luftwaffe from France end 1944 to rescue the cocgac and headed for the " alpine fortress". Crossing the lake of Constance, the own Flak ( anti aircraft gun) shot them down and the plane crashed and sunk near a town called Friedrichshafen. 15 years ago, plane was detected ( ultrasonic exploration) and recovered. Imagine what prices they obtained per bottle of this well preserved french cognac :-).
By the way: The famous gold train is probably in a caverne near city of Steyr/ Austria .. the exploration specialists ( members of inner circle) got stopped by the authorities just before they managed to break through a concrete wall. Using a snake camera, they already could see a large caverne behind that wall. Railway waggons, trucks, Kübelwagen, boxes => jackpot ! Since then, no info issued till now. Official statement from authorities: no action at all permitted as there are dead bodies expected, workers from concentration camp.
Some dreamers still search for the " Bernsteinzimmer" , however, the russian and east german secret service had qualified teams investigating/ digging for it long ago. What they didn'd find does not exist.
      Greetings from the old world

@@WittmannAntiqueMilitaria You may enjoy annother "treasure hunter" story about the " Treasure of Moritzburg"
=> look youtube : Die Spur der Schätze , der Wettiner Schatz (report in german, but video is self-explaining).
The finder however got punished (fortunately some hundred Euros only) by the authorities for " illegal use of metal detector". ... what a shame. He did not sell the treasure on black market, he honestly handed over the treasure to the museum !!
German narrow headness .. you may expect that the " inner circle" of treasure hunters know better how to handle their finds :-))

Great video Mr. Whitman. I love the pole top you picked up, and I hope you bought that SA from the nervous looking gentlemen lol, that was a beauty. Do you ever go to any shows in Texas? I left the Communist Californian Union so I hope I get the opportunity to meet you some day here in the South.

It's really sad that most people in Germany don't appreciate this beautiful military artifacts
Germans think that this stuff was shipped out with USA Canadian military personnel but if you think about it how in Sam's hell would they get all that out a lot of it was and still being sold out of country
