      Ikr. I was so glad to hear the update where apparently everyone has been pretty cold to OP. Personally I'd never be able to look at someone the same way if they told somebody to "shut up" and that "nobody cares", for just talking about something that makes them happy! For me, even if it's something I personally don't care about at all, just seeing a friend/good coworker/etc be genuinely excited and happy is enough to make me enjoy the conversation. I don't have to give a shit about Transformers, if the person talking about it really loves them then there's still a lot of interesting/entertaining conversations you can have without being personally attached to the interest itself. Sounds like the OP is just a really boring and self-absorbed person if they're so completely unable to enjoy a conversation about someone else's interests, to the point of being angry and bothered by it. Even if you don't enjoy the conversations you can just, y'know, not participate?? Why go outta your way to yuck someone's yum

    Really appreciate Noah for sharing that at 47:53 because it’s something that I think some guys don’t realise women have to go through. I remember this one particular instance when I had just turned 21 and a few friends and I were kinda bar hopping but decided to stay longer at one to get a bite to eat, the bar had a second floor and I said I’d go up and grab us a table. It was then that this awkward kid approaches me and asks if he could sit with me and “talk”. I politely told him no and said the other seats belonged to my friends. I watched the kid (I’m calling him a kid because I swear he looked 16-17 tops) return to his table out of the corner of my eye and saw him talking to an older guy who I’m pretty sure was his dad. About 10 minutes later, the _dad_ comes up to my table and starts trying to hit on me and offering to buy me a drink. Thankfully, this is when my friends showed up and one of my guy friends (who’s pretty big and intimidating) said something to him; I’m not sure exactly what he said, but the guy kinda put his hands up in the air and started backing off. I asked him what he said and my best (guy) friend basically said, “That guy looked like a creep and it looked like you were really uncomfortable so I asked [other guy friend] to tell him to back off.” This then led into a conversation where my 3 guy friends are recommending my other female friend and me different methods of self defence (obviously, we knew some, but I’m physically disabled so it’s a lot harder for me; they were giving tips of things I could do to defend myself even with a disability) and making sure we both owned pepper spray. One friend even texted us a link to a type of taser that his girlfriend keeps on hand when she’s out and about alone. This sounds weird, but it was honestly a really sweet moment because it made me realize how much my friends cared about me as well as the other women in their lives.

      How is it manipulative when it's after the fact? The opportunity to use the surprise wedding is past, there is no way anyone can interpret that as an attempt to emotionally manipulate her to TRAVEL BACK IN TIME to go through with it unless you're the sort of person who sees it everywhere because you're the one doing it.
      He was stating a fact - "I spent the money, it will take a couple of years to save up for another one"

    Idk about the romance novel thing, OP has repeatedly asked her sister to stop mentioning her in the context of these books, I feel like that could be fixed easily by the sis, she's clearly disrespecting OP's boundaries. OP was doing her a favor (lending her books) and the sister just puts her on the spot all the time. I would actually say NTA

    • @carrotpencils
      @carrotpencils Před 9 měsíci +45

      exactly and theres a difference between just reading books near your family and actually describing the content aloud for everyone to hear, which is what the sister was doing
      the sister is also 19 and i think the excuse that "if you share something with your younger sibling , they are gonna talk about it aloud" is really annoying cause a 19 year old is very capable of respecting other's boundaries

    • @llostGD
      @llostGD Před 9 měsíci +26

      @@carrotpencils omg totally, at 19 you should absolutely understand that concept. I also gotta agree with OP, considering the themes of the mentioned book I wouldnt want one of my secret kinks to be broadcast to my entire family and have it discussed or mocked, with or without my name being mentioned. So I totally get where they're coming from. If the sister still wants to read the book she can buy it herself, but I think taking it away is super justified at this point.

    I don't typically have an audible reaction when Shayne reads the stories for the first time, but the actually GASP I made when the dude lying about an affair with his coworker to break up her marriage said "A part of me wants the divorce to happen so I can propose to her and marry her" That is absolutely disgusting

      @M1n1Mushr00m ESPECIALLY because she is asian and muslim. Having a rumor about an affair is life ruining as it is, but I wouldn't be surprised if her own family is possibly shunning her. Islam is very strict about these things, especially on woman, she could literally not just be losing her husband but literally her entire life beyond her job. I swear to God if I was in that class and saw that man harassing that young woman, I would take it upon myself to go and critique every single thing that he did wrong, because if he's so focused on someone else's food, you just know his is being neglected
