When i heard he was covering this when he announced it on Grimmy's show, i thought it would be terrible, he's a rapper and trying to compete against of the best vocalists going would be impossible. I love this cover!! The lyrics are heartfelt and not just about money, women, cars etc, he really goes in on the theme of the original song in his own way, and big up to him for that!
If you listened to Wretch he paid his respect to Ed and Ed knew this was happening. So all you little haters respect that firstly. Secondly These two go back a long time so no love lost between them just big love. Thirdly Wretch knows he can't sing so why bring him up on that. He took a love song and did it his way!

Covers are like, maintaining the same "spirit" of the song but with a different "body". Like what James Taylor did with "You got a Friend" or what Freedie did with "Crazy little thing called love". argh art is so hard to explain. again i don't hate. its a very good RAP SONG
He was never going to cover it in the traditional sense of the word, because he can't sing, he can only rap. However, he's gone to the effort of writing his own lyrics to re-invent the song into something that suits him and conveys the same message as the original. In that sense it has the same spirit of the original. I think you have to give him some credit for that. Having said that, it's not great.
