Awesome, well researched guide as always, I especially appreciate all the voice clips included from Xenoblade 1. Gives the whole thing a bunch of character and they're edited in very cleanly. Learned a lot, looking forward to part 2!
This is definitely the best Shulk guide i've seen so far! -However i'd like you to consider one thing. When explaining Smash Art you mention that the only thing it is good for is killing. While I agree this is its MAIN purpose, it actually can serve a similar purpose as shield when you are at low percents. Because of the increased knockback, at low percents it is easier to fall out of a combo when in smash art. This provides a low-risk way to break from combos early if your opponent does not adjust to the knockback increase.- Thanks again for the guide, looking forward to the advanced stuff! EDIT: WHOA! Just kept watching the video and you mention it! This is definitely the most thorough Shulk Guide and should be #1 for people wanting to learn shulk.
I know im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a trick to log back into an instagram account..? I somehow lost the account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me.
@Brantley Trace Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
I love the extra bits added on to match the Arts being talked about. _Don't Worry_ for Monado Jump, all the Reyn quotes and _Visions of the Future_ for Monado Shield, _Our Paths May Never Cross_ for Buster, and _The Power of Jin_ for Smash. Can't wait to see what you do for Part 2.
I love Shulk in this game, and great job using the XC1 voice clips! Can't wait for part 2. Also, Smash monado is just hilarious to me now. fair deals like 3% and sends them a million miles away. It's like when some superpowered god just flicks a guy into the next continent.
You know that one part in Xenoblade when Zanza says "the Monado's appearance is merely an illusion. Its form morphs to conform to the will of its master." I think Shulk actually upgraded the Monado to the Monado II between Smash For and Ultimate, but he just kept the form the same.
So this video has fun voice clips, music from all 3 games and is a comprehensive and very interesting guide. 10/10 from me, I'm subscribing and excited for more.
Great tutorial my man, I've been maining Shulk for awhile and it's nice to know that someone summed up the basics in one clear and concise video! Anyone interested in maining him jump on the Shulk discord and learn with us!
Its so great being a Kirby main and also being able to learn from other character's tutorials. Even though I'm a bit late here, nice video, I love the way you explain the functions
I discovered that I enjoyed Shulk and wanted to get better. This is how I got better: - I played a lot of Shulk without using Monado arts at all, just getting used to his kit. - I would dedicate myself specifically to learning only one Monado art at a time. - This allowed me to get comfortable just playing his entire character. - I learned how each of his attacks works well with each art individually. - I learned that being "vanilla" can sometimes just be the better option. - I learned how to reserve my resources (Monado) a little better. - Also learning how much time I have with each art, etc...
Also learned that its generally more beneficial if you are ALWAYS in some Monado art, just extremely difficult to manage efficiently. Still working on it! :P
This is an amazing guide, which is stated in far more length in the other comments, and rightly so. But it's been a while and unfortunately we still don't have a part 2. Maybe that's some content to think about. (i.e. combos pls and maybe a move guide as in when to use what)
Alvis's mouth during the "let us begin" voiceline syncs better to what you added than what he was saying in that scene. Did you choose that clip on purpose?
I'm a Terry main who is looking for a solid secondary and this video blew my mind with the possibilities shulk has. Definitely gonna be putting in serious shulk practice who knows if it goes well maybe terry will be the secondary since, shulk has a crazy good matchup spread and is sneaky s tier at least I think so but, that's just an opinion.
Absolutely loved how in depth this video was, but PLEASE speak LOUDER. i had to use headphones on max volume. Loved the video tho, keep up the great work. - new subcriber
im a little late but i love love love the xenoblade music used in this and the voice lines sprinkled in, i just love how every shulk main is a xenoblade fan haha... oh and the guide was pretty good too I guess :)
I think it's just bullshit how Buster now makes you take the same percentage of damage you inflict. While in Smash 4 it was much less. Some super armor for shield would be sweet. Not to mention the nerf of vision counter no longer goes through shields has screwed me over more than landed. That and Shulk feels super light and hits the blast zones earlier than last game.
@@dantelawrence4676 uhh do you mean xenoblade 1? I have played it, but his sword doesn't get bigger in smash, at least as far as I know, please correct me if I'm wrong.
Would you recommend having tap jump on or off while using shulk? I was thinking about having it off because i could do short hop + n-air/f-air but I'm so used to having it on it would be a very difficult adjustment.
Can you use Monado shield during Special Zoom’s, such as Finishing Touch or Rest? And additionally can you switch to it during hitlag and invalidate moves such as Falcon’s knee?
Yes and it is very hilarious when your opponent pops off only to find out you put up Shield in the nick of time. The mental damage is as great as taunting your opponent to hit you with the Smash art while you're on high percent, only to use Vision on them like some sick ass anime protagonist (which is actually a very Shulk thing to do hahaha).
The beauty of it all is that choosing your arts can be done ANYTIME even while being combo'd or during multi-hit moves and it gives you a very good amount of frame invincibility when the Monado Art activates. Shulk's the only character in the roster that can never be reliably combo'd or killed at any percent because of this.
Awesome, well researched guide as always, I especially appreciate all the voice clips included from Xenoblade 1. Gives the whole thing a bunch of character and they're edited in very cleanly. Learned a lot, looking forward to part 2!
Yes, the voice clips were very well done!
Fr they make me so happy, I love the game so much

@Chaim Stetson glad I could help :)

I mean that is kinda what is happening
Okay but what gems do I use?
Quick step and agility up
Just stack that agility.
Gaming Powerz I capped agility what’s next?
Run off fair with smash art
Unbeatable 6
please im desperate for part two this is such a quality guide
WHEN IS PART 2 😭😭
Came out 4 weeks ago 😁
@@kArchenOFFICAL damn!!

So good I could cry. The editing, the insights. Shulk is precious to you and I can tell. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Shield when you're high, speed to be good, jump for a finisher at high percent, Buster during early game, Smash during late game.
So this video has fun voice clips, music from all 3 games and is a comprehensive and very interesting guide. 10/10 from me, I'm subscribing and excited for more.

OMG I was starving for your first Shulk guide! So glad you finally found the time to do this!

This comment didn’t age well

21:50 best cameo
PART 2!!!!!!!! I love shulk and I’m learning what I can with him.
This is a great guide to the Monado Arts!
I’m tryna understand it but shulk is such an insane character. Bout to watch some tournament runs of him
Gotta appreciate the music choice always being fitting.
I have been waiting for this for so long
Loved the Xenoblade X music
Are the voice clips really necessary?
Abso-frickin-lutely
This is an actual shulk guide. Good shit. Pragmatic.
This video was one of the most helpful shulk guides I've seen! Any estimate on when part 2 is going to come out?
This is an amazing guide, which is stated in far more length in the other comments, and rightly so.
But it's been a while and unfortunately we still don't have a part 2.

When second part?
Nice!! Probably gonna pick him up.
wow this very detailed. turn up volume plz, also, some diagrams are more unnecessarily complicated than it needs to be, ty.

Smash Art:
_Power of Jin plays_
_Clips of everyone flying offstage_
"It's over, boy. EAT THIS!"
_GAME!_ The winner is... Jin!
Very good guide, I can't wait for part 2! (But please crank the volume up next time, your voice is very low).
xenoblade X music YAY!!!
great video, hope you can give us a part 2 with advanced stuff, like combos, situational arts, and how to defeat projectile spammers
Part 2 pls
You did a really good work on that guide, thanks for your time!
“shulk is immune to being 0 to deathed”
are you aware that ice climbers uptilt comboes into itself on shield art shulk?
Then change into smash art so knockback is increased
Agent Glowstick then the icies can footstool the shulk, cancelling the knockback and dragging him back down into more desync shenanigans.
Icies are an exception 😂😂😂 desync is hard to pull off for me
Derpz Studios they arent an exception
Nathan Emmert there are a few things the shulk can do to escape so shulk truly is immune to 0 to deaths
Before 2019 end anyone wanna monado cyclone me
Was there never a part 2 or am I just unable to find it?
Absolutely loved how in depth this video was, but PLEASE speak LOUDER. i had to use headphones on max volume. Loved the video tho, keep up the great work. - new subcriber

I feel they balanced the monodos a little too much
this guide is amazing
RIP pt 2
There is a REASON speed art is the same color as sonic
thx
Great vid and extremely helpful!
"Continued in part 2"
So this was all a lie.
This is an excellently put together piece, though the audio clips of the characters quoting was a bit much.
I disagree , I like it
PART 2 PLS
Where's the next one?
Hey bro. Part 2 coming out soon?
just subbed bro! please please please make part 2!!!!
Part 2 pis ! Keep up the good work
Damn part two bout to be long as shit lol
Need more monado
Biggest sword (until late december 2020)
Actually, if you played the game then the sword can actually grow bigger than Sephiroth's.
@@dantelawrence4676 uhh do you mean xenoblade 1? I have played it, but his sword doesn't get bigger in smash, at least as far as I know, please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd say doing short hop aerials is pretty useful, so I think any difficult adjustment period would be worth it.
Having tap jump off is just objectively better for most characters so adapting to it is worth your time

Good vidéo

Bout damn time
TLDR land with nair all the time
Young link was at 0....
If you're talking about the Lylat clip, he was actually at 22%; shulk himself was at 0%.
It’s arts, not monados. Why does nobody ever get this right?
Shulk is just thanos as a weeb
Am I the only one annoyed by all the Xenoblade audio clips?
low audio
wtf
no wonder this has low views lol
