    So I’m not a Les Paul guy, but I do own 2 EII’s, I have a horizon baritone 7 and just got a tb7 that I waited over 2 years to get after ordering!!! But it was worth it! I’m normally an Ibanez guy, but I will say my horizon made me really dig esp and want another, and I’ve always wanted a tele 7 string all white, and go figure, esp made one! And both guitars are just killer! I’m actually kinda glad the tb7 took as long as it did cause the specs actually better on the guitar from when I originally ordered it. It now has SS frets, and they made the neck a satin, with the rest of the body gloss. But man the guitars track so good in the studio too! But my next guitar will be with a evertune. I was kinda nervous about them at 1st, but now there are enough people now swearing by them that I gotta get one.

      I'm glad you're had a good experience with ESP! I love them!
      I was also an Ibanez guy for nearly a decade... and then I was also playing PRS for a bit... But I always came back to ESPs.
      There was definitely a shift in their manufacturing, ever for their LTD Models... it seemed like over night they just "Clicked" and figured it out.
      All of my ESP's are comfortable and built like tanks!
      The EverTune really is a great tool. For Gigging and Recording it just makes the whole experience better. It frees your mind to focus on the music.
      I hope you get one!

    Ok, just a quick update. I have now followed your lead and put the SH6 in the bridge position. The Pegasus was way too boomy/bass heavy/scooped in this guitar. The BKP Holy Diver 7 was better, cut some of the bass and added nice top end, but somehow lacked balls and was still a bit too dark. The SH6 seems to be the best of the 3 and I am finally happy with my EII Eclipse 7's tone! Thanks man!

That being said, I am an old six string guy (just turned 53 last week), and have two baritones to get my Pro-Pain playing fix with. I am toying with the idea of a seven string. The bridge *is* Great! And as far as ESP and EverTune are concerned it played perfectly out of the box. I was the one that changed the String Gauge and Lowered the Tension.
      It is a little strange that going from 10s to 9s had such an effect on these two strings but it is what it is I guess.. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I played them at home for a few weeks and then played with them for 6 gigs while on Tour and they STILL sounded snappy… it was mindblowing. @@MadManMusic yea, it's important to use the stuff that you know well. I still struggle to find the best solution for my old good 6 stringed ESP Eclipse CTM I (made in 2009, bought in 2011) to sound good in Drop C. I tried 12-60 - waay too thick, 12-52 - way too sloppy and the third string sounds like shit and out of tune. Also string buzz is confusing me as well. Sometimes I think that those 24,75 scale guitars are good only for Standard and Drop D or D# tunings. :( Well, at the same time I see bands using the same guitar even in Drop A. How come?

    • @MadManMusic
      @MadManMusic  Před 2 lety +2

      It sustains similarly to a Floyd System. Because in some ways it has the same kind of “pulling” action on the string which will reduce sustain.

    Definitely agree it is an awesome guitar. I have one as well my only issue is with the pickups as you mentioned (medium output). They just aren't what I was expecting. I've been debating to acquire some BKP Warpigs (based solely on reviews) to see if they help liven up the tone. A friend recommended Fishman pickups but never have been an active pickup person. What do you think would be the better choice?

    • @MadManMusic
      @MadManMusic  Před 3 lety +1

      I haven’t tried the Fishmans yet.. but my guitarist has them and loves them.
      Its always what you’re looking for personally.
      Think about WHAT you play.
      For me I like to be able to play Balls to the Wall Heavy... but I also like Clarity. And I also like to be able to play lightly overdriven and sometimes super clean.
      I think passive pickups give you more of this kind of room. So I decided to go with A High Output pickup, that I could Coil Tap. Now I have options and the ability to lower the output by splitting the pickups coils.
      If you only play metal and shred then maybe actives are a better option!?
      Just think about what you’re trying to accomplish.

    • @MadManMusic
      @MadManMusic  Před rokem

      Thats a great question! I don’t have a video on it, and I’ll have to make one.
      In pretty much any case where the Pickup Cavity is routed into a guitar and there isnt a “Pickup Ring” or a “Pick Guard”, the Pickups will be mounted directly to the body of the guitar.
      Unfortunately, this usually means they will be too low…
      You can do one of two things, you can get springs, just like what would be used on a guitar with a Pick Guard and use them to push the pickup up or you can use some more of a small wedge or block under the pickup to lift it up higher in the pickup cavity.
      Either will work just fine.
      I hope that helps! Give it a try and let us know!
      🤘🏼😜

    • @Anjer
      @Anjer Před rokem +1

      @@MadManMusic Hi! Thanks a lot for taking the time to write this detailed answer. I checked some videos about direct-mount pickups and it seems that this thing is a mess and very sensitive to work on. I couldn't find any videos on how to properbly put springs, so I won't do it myself blindly (unless I see a video first)...
      The thing I'd really like is having someone qualified to put the full pickup rings system on the ESP Eclipse Evertune, it's the first and last time I buy a guitar without pickup rings haha.. I'm lucky I'm not using the 7 strings very often. Even with a EMG 81, 3.5 / 4 mm far from the strings is way too much to have a sustain (I usually put the EMG 81 2 mm from the strings on my 6 strings Eclipse Vintage Black (which already has pickup rings!!)).
      I checked out E-II models, the only one close to the Eclipse tone is this E-II T-B7 (w/ EMG 81 stock + pickup high controls), but I'd really like my Eclipse Evertune to work... (and E-IIs have lots of months of wait these days...).
      I'm very suprised that metal guitarists don't say anything about all these direct-mount pickup guitars... even Solar guitars seem to have direct-mount pickup, how can you adjust the tone of your chug with this??
      I stop here haha. Have a nice day!

    • @MadManMusic
      @MadManMusic  Před rokem

      Well the very simple answer is: Most Modern Guitarists are playing aren’t playing real Amps… they’re using digital modelers.. and you can adjust the input signal on a digital modeler.. which is essentially the same thing as adjusting the pickups.. so they can get the output from the guitar going into the amp that they desire…
      For analog players its all mechanics like adjusting the pickups. 🤷🏻‍♂️
      Sorry its not easier.
      🤘🏼😜

    • @Anjer
      @Anjer Před rokem

      @@MadManMusic Ah...that's crazy. I don't think it can be the same, simulating everything down to the pickup input signal doesn't seem wise, that's probably (one of the reasons) why these metal youtubers all have the same digital tone xD (And I say this, I play a Kemper now, but I keep it the rawest possible, so the guitar has to do her job the best she can to get the good tone).
      Thanks for the talk! I'll let you know if I find a reliable solution for my Eclipse...

    As a proud owner of exactly the same guitar I agree with pretty much everything you said, but to me the neck is a tiny wee bit thicker compared to my Mayonez Setius, so slightly less comfortable for playing leads, but not significantly.
    I'd also mention the tonal qualities of this guitar - I love how resonant it is, but at least mine is rather dark - the bass is powerful and tight and the top end is fine, but the mids were lacking with the stock pickup. Changing the Pegasus for a Bareknuckle Holy Diver 7 has inproved things slightly, but not very much. I am still looking for a pickup that would add some (particularly lower) mids to this guitar, but I suspect that this is just the way the wood resonates, and it will be relatively dark regardless of the pickup... Still, a great instrument.

      Hey! Thanks for the Comment!
      Truthfully I wasn’t aware that there was an option to “reset” tension.. I’ll have to look into that. When i spoke with EverTune they said I needed the lower tension Saddles so since then I’ve got with that. So thanks for the suggestion! I’ll look into it!
      I dont really feel like this is a “Lead Machine”. Which is probably why im personally so drawn to it. Over the years and playing in bands with guitarists that are WAY better than me I sort of lost my taste for leads. Not completely... but quite a lot. So this thing fits like a glove for what I’m doing.
      As for the pickups, I think the Holy Diver is still kind of Medium Output isnt it?? I know a lot of the Bareknuckle pups are med output.. but maybe you need a Higher Output Pickup? Maybe trying the Duncan Invader. I owned one ages ago, but when you spec it out on their website it shows being pretty heavy in the low end. Might be worth lookin into.

      @@MadManMusic Yeah, it's funny because Evertune doesn't really explain that, but Solar does on their website, and also Jon Shuker who is an Evertune installer told me how to do it. Take out the strings completely, then turn the tuning screw on the bridge all the way to anti-clockwise until you feel resistance. Do not turn beyond that point. Put in your new strings and start tuning at the peg at the headstock to reach Zone 2. Since you have reset the tension at the saddle to minimum, Zone 2 should be much lower than E, I'm guessing C or D. From then on proceed as in the Evertune instructions to reach E. I hope this helps!

      @@MadManMusic I am not really a lead player at all, but I do play a lot of folky melodies so I do need the upper fret access. It is not bad at all, just not as comfy as on the Mayones due to the slightly thicker neck.
      Yes HD are medium output, but that is fine. What I need is more low mids/mids to make my tone brighter, which is why I am still looking at other pickups. A friend can lend me his Nazgul, which I am going to try first.

      Hey! Thanks for the question.
      I'm still in the process of renovating my space to build up my studio again. I'm hoping it will be ready for me to move back into in about a week... hopefully. I'll be doing some vlogs and videos on home studio stuff as I set mine back up. So look out for that!
      And as for my monitors.... They are just super chearp KRK Rokit 5's. I've never really had a lot of space for a proper studio so I always just kept these things around until I was in a place where an upgrade would be worth it (which is very soon) but I know these speakers very well and I feel like my mixes around too shabby!

      I think I‘m pickin up what you‘re puttin down...
      There are a number of reasons way something might not be sounding good or correct on your system.. but without being there to troubleshoot your setup its hard to say.
      The Monitors, however, have little to do with what you hear... sort of. I mean I hear it on my end, I make tweaks and what you hear might be completely different because of your setup and speakers... so thats a little hard to diagnose. But my setup is set to be as flat and direct sounding as possible. Meaning there is nothing changing the frequencies like EQ etc.
      Do you have your setup running through a mixer with an EQ or are you setup like me, just direct into your interface > computer > monitors?
      And as an upgrade I‘m really interested in Eve Audio or Adam Audio (designed by the same person). Get it... Adam and Eve... anyway. Check em out eve-audio.de

      I get the same sound as this guy. Skip the song and go to guitar only. It's drier and more chokey than yours. Yours has the shrill and fullness...more frequency. I originally thought u were post processing to sell the plugin...which sounds meh...yours is sounding huge. Thanks for the replies!!! Much appreciated. I am looking at Yamaha hs7 monitors.

      No prob!
      Hmm. Well the link above is a video on the other amps in the Fluff pack. One of which is the classic 5150 model. Which will sound scratchy and super scooped cuz thats just what block letter 5150‘s / 6505‘s sound like. The EVH 5150 has a much warmer and fuller tone.
      Maybe this was the video you meant to refer to czcams.com/video/0AA-6jQkeX0/video.html
      Check this one out and see if it still sounds different.
      But honestly I can’t really explain why mine might sound different.. i truly just plug into it and go. The only post processing I may have done is a high pass filter but thats just to cut out super lows below like 60-70hz.. it doesn’t affect the tone of the amps much if at all.
      Perhaps its a Guitar / Pickup thing?? Or the fabled “Tone is in the Fingers” thing... I dunno. 🤷🏻‍♂️
      But dont give up on the plug in! Theres a recent update, make sure to go back to the website, give em your email and redownload it! Maybe that will also help!
      Lemme know!
