- 25lbs mono on one rod and the other rod 30lbs mono.
For the Talica rod, I used 2/0 hook.
For the Daiwa BG rod, I used 1/0 hooks on a dropper loop setup.
Third rod was a sabiki I bought from Jimmy Caivo bait and tackle in Long Beach.
Caught fishes on all 3 rods. - Jak na to + styl
Another productive day on the water Kenny; I'm surprised that the sheepies weren't feeding that day!
Hey Anthony. Let me know whenever you're ready to go here with me. The weather has been weird lately so not sure if this is the reason why I didn't see sheeps.
I'll be fishing in the harbor for the first time on Sunday. What weight carolina rig or sliding sinker do you recommend? Great video!
The sinkers I used in this video were 2 ounces, 3 oz, and 4oz. Caught fish on all rods so not sure if sinkers mattered. Use anywhere from 15lbs test to about 30lbs mono.
@@playdirty714 that's very helpful! Thank you!
Hey do you have ghost shrimp areas that you can pump out like muddy estuaries on low tide up where you live? We have a lot down here in San Diego's mission bay area, Ocean Beach's Dog beach across from SeaWorld at mouth of the San Diego River estuary where there are millions of holes these little critters live to pump out. You catch anything and everything with them.
Sadly not that I know of. I know that Sheeheads love ghost shrimps. This was a tip given to me from Terry a commercial fisherman in this area. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Pump ghost shrimp by simple green at super low tide. They're always there!!
Nice sized white fish 🙌🏾
Thanks bro. I just found your channel this morning. Did it alert you when I subbed?
@@playdirty714 No it didn’t, I’ve been subscribed to you since I first started my channel a year ago. I remember commenting on your video where you were targeting sheephead in Long Beach
@@FishingWithJRome Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing bro. Grats on the legal halibuts this year. Alamitos Bay was where I started fishing over 30 years ago. I need to come back there and do a video and title it "This is where it all started".
@@playdirty714 Thanks, I appreciate it and you should do it 🙌🏾
Half-moon Perch
Thanks Trey. As you can tell I know very much about the species and their names. LOL. Thanks for correcting me.
@playdirty714 😄 no worries! They have a really cool crescent moon shaped tails and tinges of blue on the fins!! Cool fish
@@TreyFishing and they like to eat peas. That's all I know 🙂
Do you have Sargo and Opal Eye in that channel? Best bait, Fresh baby mussels pry off rocks, ghost shrimp. I saw your vids last year Catching Sheep Head, man your lucking to catch them near those rocks, Down where I'm at, you gotta be on a boat over a Kelp forest off Sunset cliffs, La Jolla to Oceanside coastline. The City close our Ocean Beach Pier for future upgrade, people were catching Large bull sheep heads with whole shrimps.
Sargo is one of the species I must catch this year. It is one of the 6 species I made a bet with 2 of my friends on catching Sargo this year. Person catches biggest Sargo will win $25. So if I catch biggest, I will win $50. $25 from each of them. I have another video coming up where I will reveal where I catch mussels and where I will hopefully be catching them. I used to catch them in Alamitos bay when I first started fishing but they are rare now there.
@@playdirty714 They come up from our southern border Baja Cali when season's usually warmer, gotta wait till summer heat rises, been cold down here lately, they say when you catch one, there is a school of them near by. Where your fishing in the channels, they would usually be by the rocks and such, under piers, Buoys, bridges, near structures by ships.
@@scruffy7443 Yes over 30 years ago I used to catch Sargos next to pillars of docks during the summer. You definitely know what you're talking about Scruffy. Thanks for contributing to the channel.
@@playdirty714 I went searching online forums for ghost shrimp you can pump out on low tide at areas your maybe familiar with of Alamitos bay, try near Marine stadium, Shoreline side, try near Queen Mary opposite side of channel under the bridge next to South Shore ramp. Just an idea suggestion. Ghost Shrimp and Blue Mud Shrimp
Limit: 50 in combination of species.
Sargo are always at the blowhole in seal beach....u ever fished that spot?
This guy is missing the mark with the head off shrimp... one of the best parts is the head , especially for sheephead...
