Great shop upgrade. This turns out to be close to what I was planning, plus some perfect ideas to improve my current approach. Thanks for sharing your project ans explaining the why and how it it.
I find the 2x4's to be just fine. Likely not the ideal scenario engineering wise but I'm not storing tons of weight. I have a smaller run in a different area of my shop that's 3' wide with 2x4 joists that's held over 800 lbs of wood pellets over the winter with zero issues. Thanks for watching!

Looks great
I almost pooped myself when you looked into the nail gun ...oh my lord ....if I ever see my husband do that I’ll kick his butt ....😅😅😅
Yea i got a tint heart attack when i saw that aswellXD. Then i rewinded and noticed that the airhose wasn't connected so it's safe:).
How sturdy is the 2x4 joist ? I have a similar build that I'm planning and was thinking of using 2x4. My storage loft will be 7' X 20'
