  • a stressful weekend out of town as a mom! we took a weekend trip to Birmingham Alabama for Nick to race in the 24 hours of lemons race with his uncle... he had a blast... and I had a HARD time parenting solo for the whole weekend... I definitely felt like a failure and lost my patience more than I'd like to admit.
not every trip is blissful, not every trip goes according to plan, and it's normal to feel overwhelmed, especially as a first time parent, so I hope that this vlog helps you feel less alone when you face challenging circumstances like I did this weekend.
the good thing is, the Lord will always take our burdens if we trust them into His hands! thank you Lord for grace, I sure needed it during this vlog.

Oh I feel for you. It can be so overwhelming being on your own in an unfamiliar place with a child in your care, whether it is 1 or more. Hats off to you for going and getting through!! And thank you for being vulnerable and open sharing the struggle with us.
I live in Australia now but I'm originally from Alabama so I really enjoyed seeing snippets like Buc-ee's and the country drive to Outdoor World!

Thank you for sharing this video. It's honest and shows that parenting is not always an easy task, especially when you don't have help. You did a great job! And, shout out to the single parents out there. You are super heroes!

Don't feel bad, I remember not going anywhere with my 1st baby for a year, and we went on a vacation for 5 days in a hotel with all meals, we just had to go to the beach and we were both so tired and overwhelmed, we took naps with our 1 year old every day.. Some things get easier, but there will always be difficult days, but you will learn and grow too🤗❤

Love that you guys took naps! It’s crazy how exhausting the days can be!!

My husband races every Saturday in the summer and I totally get your feelings 😅 thankfully we dont have to travel for his but I don't get to watch him as often as I like because being a solo parent at home is sooo much easier than being a solo parent at the race track lol

That’s so fun that he does that! And yes I agree completely… I’d much prefer to stay home next time 🤪

You remind me so much of myself when I was a newer Mom. We took my son to London to visit family when he was 11 months and I was 3 months pregnant with my daughter. I didn't do enough research and after returning from Wales via train we thought we'd take the tube to our hotel. In Boston most of the trains have handicap accessibility. Not in London! The escalators are like a mile high so i was terrified of taking him on it in his little car seat, no elevators for the most part and we had the luggage, stroller, pack n play etc. We couldn't carry all of it and our son at the same time so I had to leave one bag and go back for it. I got yelled at for leaving my bag unattended (I didn't know about the prior terrorist attack in the tube). Some nice Romanian guys helped us carry our stroller and bag. They were life savers. But I cried (ugly cry). It was just all too much. I felt ashamed for being so unprepared. It was an oversight, but I blamed myself. We uber'd after that. Motherhood and life in general is a series of lessons; many of them hard whether you have 1 kid or 4. One is more manageable, but you only find that out when you have more then one. When it is your first my goodness it can ask be alot. I bet the next trip will go better. 💛

Oh my gosh… I do not blame you for crying… I don’t even know how I would get through that without breaking down! Those types of situations are just so overwhelming on every level, I don’t know if anyone can mentally handle that stuff without getting flustered and or frustrated with it all.

My husband works two jobs and volunteers as a firefighter.... adjusting to motherhood and not having him around as much as I would like, was so overwhelming at times! Totally can relate!

It’s so hard not having help! I’m used to it when I’m at home, but being away from home was such a challenge!!

It's hard being a single parent trying to raise kids on your own without having any help from the father. I understand how you feel because I know people that are going through the same thing.

Also wanted to add that alot of places have indoor play centers that are toddler friendly and the couple we have visited were a saving grace.
