I have been waiting for soooo long to see an actual good build video of this type of foundry. I have been itching to make a foundry for so long, so I can start smelting and casting ingots for my lathe build. I like to make tools from steel and aluminum and I needed a great tutorial for my next phase. Thank you jeff. I am a long time subscriber and will continiue as always. Love your videos friend!

Going to use it to melt down gold hahaha. I believe in Providence. Pure cement is heavy and prone to cracking.
I used fiber insulation at first and it was fine for aluminum, then when I wanted to retain more heat for melting copper, I used a layer of Satenite over the fiber insulation and it worked great, and the whole unit minus the propane cylinder is easy to pick up and carry.

Consider building a fire barrel circle bound with metal strapping,, or aircrete bricks with water glass treatment. Set it on a raised circle fitting inside so that
sides can be lifted after a spill.. Propane is clean and easy, but maybe used oil is cheaper. With air pressure. spray..

Did you do a drying process before first smelt? If you do your furnace will last much longer. Keep pressure at about .03 to .08 and slowly heat that a few times letting I cool and heat Id say 3-8 times. It cures that foundry cement or the castable firebrick which I use in my foundry. Also would highly suggest using ceramic wool installation then us the firebrick or foundry cement. This makes a long lasting furnace that can take even hotter temps.

Some DVDs with commentary would bring in a little money but more importantly would provide dimensions for the burner parts, which I suspect are important for proper functioning. Great video as always, and you didn't even get wet ( unless you count sweat ).

    You should look into k-wool.
Cost is about the same as refractory, but it lasts longer, it's tons lighter, much faster construction .
It's also super efficient on propane.
P.S. I'm one of your oldest subscribers and love your videos.
    Keep'm comin!!
