- Rain Mixes Up The Supercar and Road Racer Shootouts - Who Was Fastest?
Changeable conditions posed varying challenges to different driver’s in yesterday’s Supercar and Race Cars For The Road Shootouts. Some runs were wetter than others, so the playing field wasn’t quite level.
Four-wheel-drive was clearly an advantage in the Supercar Shootout, with Paul Rees crossing the line in the fastest time at the wheel of the Porsche 911 Turbo S. He completed the 1.16-mile hillclimb in 57.63 second, crossing the line at 108.5mph. Similarly all-wheel-drive was Jan Mardenbrorugh’s Nissan GT-R, which trailed by a mere 1.13 seconds, hitting 106.3mph across the line.
The fastest two-wheel-drive car took a podium place. Ciaron Haggerty pedalled the McLaren 570S Sprint up the hill in 62.18 seconds, at 100.4mph across the line.
The rest of the field was no less dramatic, including the likes of the McLaren P1 GTR, Rolls-Royce Wraith Black Badge and the new Jaguar F-Type SVR.

Rytis K. thanks i only want to relive olly clack and stubbled across your comment
Rytis K. I
Cool thanks :]
Wow a person with to much free time. Thanks tho
That Skinner run was literally jaw-dropping!
balls of steel
The american.
He's not "The American" is he?!
The American on The Grand Tour, yes.
Wow. Mad respect. Even tho I hate that Character on the show
The best driving job goes to Mike Skinner in that big old NASCAR Truck that's as wide as the road! 2 wheel drive, 3500lbs, 800hp....no turbos, no crazy electronics, no road sensing all wheel drive and probably the worst aero dynamics out of all the vehicles!
I agree.
It did have crazy electronics tho. It probably had mapping selection, ignition cont, brake biasing , fuel mix etc.
Quattro 4 it had none of those things, except a very simple engine computer.
NASCAR vehicles are very analog
Mike have drove like a Senna! Beyond of limit! I liked it!
40:45. For the people searching for it, like i did.
25:45 Some of the best footage I've ever seen
I was just thinking the same thing/ Awesome driving there
So much respect throwing that legend around like that.
You can see he knows the car so well.I would've been scared to death drivng that machine like that.
O my god, yes, that was EXCELLENT!!
The fact is, only three Alfa Romeo 308Cs have survived out of four made (one burned out in a race in 1938) and that the remaining two were now parts of museum collections. Meaning, this Alfa Romeo 308C is the only one still being raced. And that makes that flat out run even more impressive
@7:00.....Damn that Galaxie looks and sounds GREAT.
For racers that are the topic of some many "they only have to turn left" jokes. Those nascar guys sure gave alot of people bloody noses! Well done!
Save this video for those special times in your life. Then laugh as you leave them speechless.
Competing against cars over 100 years old.. Yeah, you'd expect them to win.. what is your point?
BadTrip they're still fast compared to modern vehicles.
Well seeing as allot of the cars driven are classics and extremely costly to repair I can understand why they have a little bit of caution going up the hill. While on the other hand stuffing a nascar into the wall would set you back 10k maybe?
Sjon Hompiestompie a wrecked NASCAR car costs $150,000-$300,000 to rebuild and a brand new one costs around $200,000. With $10 grand you could get maybe half an engine.
You have to love how deceptively difficult this hill climb is and how well different cars from different disciplines and eras handle it. This among many other reasons is why I LOVE the Festival of Speed!
skinner in that tundra was absolutely insane!
That old galaxy was almost as fast as the new racing cars....damn
looked nice i want one someones selling one for 500 but i dont have money to fix it up
+ChastBlind that Galaxy isn't the car you think it is...it's known as a 427R. It has the racing version of the 427 and a lot of fiberglass and aluminum. If you want to know more, check out the Ford Muscle episode of Victory by Design.
It's not just an 'R'-code car but also one of the original 4 'lightweight' cars that made it to Europe.
@@samsonian 2016 Gfos is much better than 2020.
@@purwantiallan5089 not sure you understood what I was saying...but yes, I agree: 2020 everything has pretty much sucked due to the whole covid freak-out and subsequent de-funning of the world.
What a huge treat! This is the pure expression of the joy of all-out motoring. The Goodwood Festival of Speed is at the top of my bucket list. Thank you, Lord March and all the enthusiasts who make this happen!
Cracking race! The Tundras run was amazing!
That BMW 320i sounded absolutely amazing
OMG!!! Skiner pas was totaly amazing, my eyes poped out :D
This video is why I love cars of all types and ages. Nothing quite like watching a car full chat with stupid amounts of power kicking up dust down a British B road. Absolutely beautiful
That 312P makes me wish I was born in the 60s. Beautiful in every way and Mr. Franklin drove it the way it was meant to.
I was born in the 60s. It was great and it's fun looking back, but now that I'm 50ish I wish I was born in the 2000s. ;-)
And that wailing v12 soundtrack? Oooof!!
Thank you from all of us who appreciate the history you're sharing here. Many of us are unable to attend this timeless, classic event. Thanks to you, we're able to enjoy the sights and sounds... missing the smells though! (Burnt rubber, race fuel, freshly cut grass). It's on my bucket list. Thanks again!
Dude...Majzub in that Alfa...bravo, sir!!
Having been there in person and seen this, it really doesn't lose any of the adrenaline rush watching again on here. What a truly brilliant weekend that was, definitely going next year.
41:18 I was thinking, "this is MENTAL". and then the commentator said it.
IT WAS MENTAL
First car
A: "Look at that old banger"
B: "That old banger is worth over 1 million"
A: 👁👄👁
skinner's commitment at the flint wall is legendary
Well I can say I really enjoyed competing in the shoot out, brilliant to kick off such a great event
Thanks for the full upload
dont know how to thank you for uploading so much in such a great quality.. greetings from Czech republic !
A revelation to me did not really know about this event , That track is wicked going fast. Looks like fun to attend it looks people friendly.
Excellent variety of cars. Hard charging runs. Excellent! - I thank everyone, drivers very much included, for making this event possible.
4:28 this looks both hilarious and very anxiety inducing at the same time!!
Thanks - best video of the year so far
Thoroughly enjoyed this entire video...thank you so much for posting. Excelsior!!!
That Ferrari 312 P Spyder DF incredible!
One of the you tube highlights of the year
I love their commentary! So fun and lively
Yes fantastic!! Glad to watch these shootouts. I really enjoyed 2017, 18 and 19 too
That 320i is motivation, incredibe build
Unfortunately it didn't run properly, or the driver didn't seem to operate it at high enough revs.
Who here say I that wants to see mike skinner come back and run it again.
Awesome, the evolution of racing has always fascinated me, thanks man..!!
20:05 that E46 M3 GTR
Mike Skinner drove the best best run of the day in my oppinion
If Julian drove like this back in 1938, he'd undoubtedly be a champion!
5:20 I love how that thing has just so much Torque that hes racing it idling :D
Idle of an average car. At 1000rpm hes going 128mph in the s76
Simply badass
Just amazing, superb footage and Olly is the spit image of his dad.
Questo genere di gare, in Italia, non avrebbero presa .
Listening to the m8f storming up the hill is something else!
“Wright brothers”?! F068 o7f! Santos Dumont did’it something pretty much sims like a airplane.
Great run from David Franklin ! fantastic
this is really entertaining thanks for an hour long video
Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it
A really very good video, great and historic cars, of every times.
love this stuff some of those very old cars are fantastic should be different classes of cars competing
Great video thoroughly enjoyed it!
Jeez, Clark and Skinner were fearless. Awesome stuff
That slow mo of majub is lengendary, like what a stone face badass legend, hes getting that thing loose and he looks like hes watching tv!! 😂😂 what a driving god!
fenomenal el tiempo del subaru!!!!!
"♪ Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna run around and desert you ♪" - Ken Block
I had a camaro.73' Z-28 4sp..antique white black stripes..i thought i might see one here..but not the same color. Cool..✌
Excelente día viendo carreras.. Salud2
awesome video really enjoyed.
Thanks ✌
That plucky little Golf sounds quite good!
Finally I'm able to catch up with the shootout. This year shootout deal with Skysport just disappointing really. Thanks for the upload anyway.
Excellent stuff!
Carros incríveis!!
Thank you
With the helmet on Ollie is the head off Roger. Mighty stuff. He should bring that car to Molls Gap. P.S. good number on the door 👍😎
30:06 that is just superbbbbb
That was amazing, hard to believe McLaren hybrid is that fast.
Hypercars are called that for a reason.
Matt Neil in the Type R was so quick through flint
Machine, Human,Time.... GOODWOOD!!!!
Tutti Dietro Al SUBARO Cribbio! Bellissimo Video... Bye Bye................
That was awesome! I really wanted the "widow maker" to win though.
Ben Collings was the best for me in the prewar Merc, he was driving the bag out of that thing with no protection, david Franklin in the v12 ferrari was another hero and skinner in the pickup wow
Great video... awesome cars... wow
my goodness that '49 ferrari was spectacular!!
You see M. Skinner through the S bend holy fucking shit
Madness.
His and Brack's entry speed at the wall are suicidal. Fucking love it.
That p1 is just magnificent
That Galaxie. Certainly the heaviest car there, no aero to speak of, no ultra sophisticated suspension, as unlikely as it could be, and arguably the meanest sounding car there, but you could take that car from the track down to the grocery store, quickly, and scare all traffic from the road in the process. That Galaxie. My vote for best car. I am biased though.
wow that McLaren P1 LM beat almost all the race cars!! that's impressive!
Not really, most of those race cars are no longer racing. Try some of the new cars with 1500hp at Pikes peak or cars from the American Le Mans series like the Daytona prototypes or the McLaren's racing, but not doing so well against factory Ford GT 40's, the series leading Corvette Z06's the Ferrari 488's and the Lamborghini Aventador R's and Huracan's, Porsche 911 RSR amongst others. The Corvettes and GT 40's have set lap records on the tracks across the U.S. and Canada that they race on. Wonder why Millen wasn't at Goodwood with his outrageous Pikes Peak car..
@@DrainPipeJoe or just state that the mclaren is also a race car
Wow Skinner's run in the NASCAR truck was amazingly scary near Flint wall
Alfa 308C -- beautiful car, glorious sound.
The best car: Impreza Gobstopped
The best driver: Mike Skinner
thx very much for this
Fantastic :)
wonderful
That Jager BMW :D
STi power!
Top demais
Nastruck guy is like, I'm either crashing or winning.
I was on the left of molecomb when Abbott crashed and my driver of the day had to be the forklift truck driver who rebuilt the bales in record time ;)
Matt Neal rules!!!
Those pre war cars are just amazing
The drive of the day was Mike skinner in the 2500 lb truck. That was impressive!
Skinner drove that Nascar truck like a madman haha
6:05 That looks like the most fun-to-drive vehicle in the world.
SUBIE CLARK SMAAAAASH!!
Alpha 308 1 C best performance of whole video loose and clean
That older guy driving the Alfa Romeo pre-war gp car is excellent! He threw it around
Majzub is always entertaining to watch!
Incredible performance from that old Ferrari and Fiat, pity the DS3 broke and big clap for Ollie. I just wish someone ran Tesla uphill, to see how it does...
Amazing !!!! :-O
