This was exactly what I needed! Straight to the point, and easy to follow. Thank you so much for this!!

Great video Buddy! Use this trick all the time in Fusion 360 by Autodesk, even easier and free for Hobbyists!

Do you know if this "trick" will work with the new versions of Fusion 360?

I used to use this technique working off of printed assembly drawings in order to establish assmbly distances on industrial centrifuges that we did not have engineering drawings. We then used the resulting data to construct templates for fitting the internal conveyor that had to spn inside the outer housing that would spin about 3000 to 4000 rpm. I usually worked off of a bearing diameter to get my initial dimension

I use the scale option in tools as long as I know the real world dimension for hand-drawing. It converts inches to mm. as in: 12 inches = 3.5 mm for HO scale. I can then tell the program to scale all my drawings, even ones scanned in as long as I have a known dimension. Then, everything comes out to that scale.

Now... If people would only realize that the metric system is so much easier to work with...

Easier yes. Not necessarily more accurate.

I'm talking about in the world of precision machining. Dimensions in the range of 0.001mm or 0.00004 inches. Even in the machining of mass produced items the manufacturing tolerances whether expressed as +/- or as an ISO class of fit can be dealt with using either system.
