- Learn how to translate your measurements to a scaled drawing of your room. We first review what we mean by a 'scaled drawing', and show how to read graph paper and an architectural scale. We then do a hands-on demonstration of drawing a room on the 1/4 inch scale using a pencil, an architect's scale, and 1/4 inch graph paper. This is the first step in creating your space plan and furniture layout - you need accurate room dimensions to then scale in your design.
From the Clairrow course "Fundamentals: Measure & Space Plan". This is the first video in the module "Creating Your Scaled Drawing" (Module 2 of 5).

You'll need a few tools to complete your scaled drawing on graph paper:
- Graph paper (we use 1/4" scale)
- Pencil and marker
- Architect's scale or ruler
- Straight edge

What about metric system?
Yes, this is a good explanation, but only for the 5.3% of the world's population that do not use Metric.
