Lore Spartan III's were made for high reward high risks missions. TORPEDO and PROMETHEUS were a disaster of course, but the companies were never meant to perish within a single mission. Especially since both had a lot of success before their respective dooms.

they managed to make a halo show, (a show where we want to watch spartans and marines run around and fight the covenant), and revolve the entire plot around keeping them benched and away from as much covenant activity as possible lmao. when we got to reach i was like finally ! chiefs getting action ! and then the plots like ay, but we took the suits away and i audibly sighed. at this point ive stuck with it cause im unfortunately still curious where it goes and the budget is honestly really good
After that episode I stopped watching, and just followed the plot with CZcams episode reviews just to not waste an hour of my life every time I wanted to see my favorite franchise get sodomized for cash.

They made it about the fucking human conflicts instead of ya know the covanent? Not only that, they made the covvies have a white bitch as essentally another prophet sbitting on the entire great journey and the lie that it was. Arbiter has no real reason to defect now due to the covanent not lying about everything.
The reason why they keep them as you said, "benched and away from as much covenant activity as possible" is because of budget-related reasons. Kiki said that they wanted to do lots of Fall of Reach but in the end, they kept it contained to just one episode because it would have blown their budget. This really would have worked better as a big-budget blockbuster movie. Paramount+ as a streaming service is losing millions each year so they're not super enthusiastic about putting more money into the show.

In the games chief doesnt get his armour removed from halo 2 till the end of halo 4 cus its like a whole process you need special equipment and everything and the big machine. Even at the end of halo 4 they have to remove in manually because he wont fit in the machine since spartan-IIs are like 2 feet taller than IVs

Considering I haven't seen any of Halo really I just know Master Chief is cool. I certainly didn't hate it but the best scenes with Master Chief in his armour.
Even out of the armour in episode 4 it was good. Anytime it's UNSC vs covenants it's good, the writing for the interpersonal drama and politics just sucked ass.
Now I want like 12 seasons of the Halo show, not because it's so great, but because I want Zanny and the boys to react to it!

Master chief canonically has a title above everyone else. They specifically gave him his own rank that outranks everyone, so he could shout at that guy withou a care.
Master Chief is still "just" a Master Chief Petty Officer. Any officer outranks him but most of them know who and what he is and so will defer to his experience and combat prowess. Every now and then he comes across some asshole officer who tries to order him around but he knows how to deal with that pretty well.

I think I've read that spartans do have a certain level of autonomy, they can violate the chain of command, but they have to justify afterwards if it really really was mission critical to do so.
7:40 To be fair Spartans are soldiers and weapons, you would kinda want them to be emotionally stunned and be effective instead of freaking out or trying to comfort someone instead of gearing up and ending the threat before it causes more harm.

If you like the show from just a visual standpoint, then thats fair. The practical effects, costumes, props, vehicles, all look fine. Its the script, the writing and characters that I just can’t bother with. At the very least, Henry Cavill cared enough to leave the show when had no chance of redemption. Halo doesn’t seem to have anyone like that.
I like everything about the tv show from it's characters, how they're written makes sense & makes them compelling & have depth with personalities & backstory.

As a huge Halo fan I was terrified to watch these until I was visiting my parents and they said it was good. I'm glad I gave it a try and honestly, Master Cheeks is a pretty cool dude. Although they don't follow the actual lore to a T, they do include a lot more than I expected and they do a great job at implementing tons of Covenant and UNSC weapons/ships from the games. I basically view it how I used to view Star Wars EU material before the lore change.
I was able to watch this so much better than the show itself. Thanks Zanny!
