Fitting A Rear Window - Ex AA Van Camper Conversion

Hi guys and welcome to the next video in my camper conversion series!
Today we are fitting the rear window… oh what a joy that was haha 😬
It felt so wrong to be cutting through our Van…. But it all worked out in the end.
The U channel was a bit too big for its purpose… Shane made it work though but he’s since spoke with the company and left feedback about that ( he will explain more about that in another video ) but that’ll help others in the future who will be buying these window kits.
The mastic gun Shane used was very stiff and it took a lot longer than it should have to mastic the window area, but our neighbour, Guy, was able to help Shane at the end with fitting the window. That part was quite stressful so it wasn’t filmed but he used the window suckers to lift and place the window in place ( they worked so well ) and he had to do a little moving around but it all came together in the end.

I feel your pain! I’m converting an ex-AA van too… very nearly finished it. Doing the windows was pretty awful. We had the same issue with our (plastic) mastic gun, which resulted in problems with the side window we fitted to the sliding door. The gun literally snapped and I had no chance getting an even bead. We bought a much better one for the rear window. There’s so little room to put your beading when the u channelling goes on that back window - it’s tough! My window isn’t perfect (there are a few little smears of mastic I wish weren’t there) but I’m pretty happy looking back. To be fair, it’s probably the toughest job (and certainly the most nerve wracking). I’ll follow your build with interest! Good luck!
