S600 4 man party/sleep over ......24hrs.
Mad idea, what about an engine swap? Fix the engine and put the V12 from the mercedes into something....lighter? I'd watch that.
Really wish you would stop with the Carly Sponsorship or at least tell the truth that you have to pay for a yearly subscription in order to use any features at all. Not to mention the terrible/non existent customer service that Carly has. Many stories of trying to get the subscription cancelled and people getting ignored by Carly.
Did you do this because of the video on Instagram of the s600 drifting
Alex, we all love your videos when you buy cars, but it would be cool af to see some more content of the million cars you already have! I’d like to see you set a lap time in each one!
Yup yup yup.. even if not covering the upgrades/fixes, would be great to see you enjoy / abuse some of the stable.
Yea,getting a bit boring just buying cars week after week 🥱
yep, there will always be some gem to pick up but gotta get some work done. Also maybe some Phil content
He literally went through each of his cars at the start of the video stating what he's waiting on and videos in the making 🤦
@@samchisholm1250That’s just the projects though, he’s got more cars than that 😂
So many new car videos, be nice to see you do more with the ones you already have tbh
they're being fixed...sheesh 😅
Anyone would think he would put an update at the start of the video…. Hang on 😂

I really would love to see a Dyno test before and after maintenance! See how the usual filters, plugs/coils, and fuel cleaner treatment improves power on an older V12!
Would be cool to see the difference
Yeah, once you've stumped up the £3000 cost for new coils on the S600...

Huge fan of the new channel, i have to say i miss Ethan and all with you. You all had great chemistry on the videos. Love the new content all the time that you have been creating.
I miss them too and the variation of the channel
Love that you're reinvesting a good proportion of your new revenue into the channel and cranking loads of videos out. I feel car throttle didn't want to do that.
more mouths to feed lol

I'd really love to see a "Guess the number of error codes" game on this one 😁
I'm thinking over 20
I'd triple that ;)
All of them
I'd guess 30. These cars have dozens of modules that register a fault code every time the voltage drops too low, so pretty much every winter you get a large batch of fault codes after doing a cold start. AGM battery upgrade did help a little.
had like 50 errors on my old 2000 c class.so manny modules and electronics
Really looking forward to seeing more on this car - I occasionally have moments of weakness when I think about just getting an older car with a honking great engine.
It'll be worth having a poke about to see why the passenger side doors don't line up, hopefully the hinge brackets just need adjusting and it's not a tweaked frame!
The seats are dynamic multi contour - they massage (pulse) and you can adjust the bolsters from the D Pad looking Controller on the front of the sears 😊
Remember its the same v12 as in the pagani zonda, so do the famous f1 system and make it sound like the pagani. Not just straight pipe.
For someone that hates personalised plates you sure do have a fair few of them 😅
That was my mates old car a few years back. He bought it to run for a laugh for a while. We took it to Goodwood FOS and hammered it all weekend on the run down and run back up north. A beast S600 PRC. Have fond memories of racing an A8L on the A27 in it
Good find. The fact that all electronics seems to be working is amazing. Keep it
Glad you are finally are updating us on the other cars but I'd like to see something actually done with them. It's sorta seems like you are just blowing money to buy as many cars as you can at this point. Let's see something done with all of these cars, flip them, go to a fancier cars etc? I don't know, just seems every Alex video is just buying another car at this point. Ready to see something done with them. More road trips would be epic. Many of us are from America and have never seen or been to places like Norway, Sweden, and other places in Europe. Great content with these cheap cars!! Just some ideas. Oh well, just my 2 cents.
You think Alex would be able to take his shit boxes to Norway or Sweden??? lol
It's taking me MONTHS of planning to do my Northern European tour just to see a few friends!
RIP KEN BLOCK , ALWAYS IN OUR HEARTS
I suggest fixing some of the issues and that oil/petrol issue, and maybe consider wrapping/painting it to go with the wheels! I loved watching this video.
Alex, with all due respect, love and admiration... you Sir are an absolute madman.
Hoovies Garage bought a car like this 5 years ago. That video on his channel is his most watched at the moment. It was when I discovered Hoovie and car you tube in general!! It has led to many great moments of entertainment from you as well, Alex!
It’s come full circle now so
I have the same thing! Cartube started rolling after that video from Hoovie
Hoovie had a w221
Jeremy Clarkson got one of these for the same price as a Nissan Pixo on Top Gear in 2011 :P
Alex's new years resolution finish a project 🤣
Hello Alex,
I really like the content you're posting here, more from the one in car throttle I might say .
I have a suggestion, why don't you drive the cars you already have in a track and do some challenges, that would be fun. Or, my favourite, some garage time fixing everything that's wrong and getting your hands greasy.
Cheers man
Love this channel more and more. Keep it up guys!
Another great video. Although I do wish, when doing the 'living with...' series, that you would cover tax and maybe even insurance groups too. It's all good and well picking up old bangers with fun engines but when it's £600/yr to tax, the costs quickly rack up. And these costs are NEVER discussed 😢. It was a highlight of your picks in the xtrail/jimny video - these two are some of the cheapest 4x4s to tax with the jimny having a tiny engine and the xtrail being predominantly fwd (most off roaders or rwd biased). Missed opportunity!
Great shout 👏
Only for the UK-viewers? No, also for the whole world! But best would be for the Netherlands. So i even dont have to google for it! I'll applaude myself!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻👍🏻
You do realize not everyone lives in the UK?
@@_Jester_ There is a comment just below this one stating that an equivalent model is 10x the price in Australia. To the extent that these "buying a cheap old luxury car" videos can provide useful advice , the financial aspect is only ever relevant in the country where the car was bought and driven.
@@joelambert7128 well said!
Great garage update in this. That’s how it should be done. Where others string out 30 minutes whilst telling us nothing, we know everything within a minute🎉
Great purchase mate, and actually surprised that most of the things work in it. Not surprised by the air suspension, that can be refurbished for not a lot. Prop shaft wouldn't be expensive either buuuut when you get to fixing the engine bits and bobs thats when your going to splash out as most of the sensors for example are stupidly expensive.
I've seen these not really straight piped but fitter with sport exhausts and they sound like old V12 F1 cars which is amazing, hope you can achieve that!
It’s actually abc suspension unfortunately
I would like to see everything that's been mentioned in the comments section and a mechanical inspection...
Great video 👍
Anyone else notice the brilliant videography/editing in each video? Top notch stuff.
Alex thanks for this Series. I am seriously looking at getting one of these W220 S600s too. It seems you have the ABC hydraulic suspension and if it only sags after a few days it is no reason for concern really. Excited to see a review of this and how efficient you can get it if you really want to. I drove my 2000 CL 500 with the M113 V8 with 30 MPG!
Having owned a W220 S600 from nearly new I’d recommend getting a later one. The NA V12s are notorious for oil leaks and general other reliability issues. Get yourself a 2004-2006 one that has the twin turbo V12…it’ll also have the updated interior and lights which make it look a lot less dated, IMO. Although it’s been a long time since I had mine it was an excellent car…Good luck, they can be very costly endeavours!
Great car, love it! That era of S-class has aged well styling wise. I think the dark wheels give it a cool, thuggish vibe, hinting at the evil power beneath, but maybe paint them a very dark metallic grey to look a bit classier. I've owned an old Merc,, guaranteed once this one is fixed, you will enjoy driving it.
Really looking forward to hearing this with straight pipes, and top speed run.
"A Cheap Mercedes is an Expensive Mercedes". Looking forward to all of your videos for this V12.
I believe the suspension on these is the ABC system which is hydraulic and the sag is due to fluid flowing back past the front valve block.
Looking forward to seeing what you'll be doing with this, oh and also your other cars.... eventually 😉
So glad for this channel. Way more enjoy this than CT now! Keep it up Alex
CT is basically dead at this point. Alex left and it fell apart.
cant beat a skodia fabia. im looking at those as my first car. witch i have my second lesson next week. first lesson went superb
Well done and loving the content. You are single handedly keeping the scrap trade alive........ would love to see this Mad Maxed and rallied
Love the videos, after seeing how good miles is I brought a 64 plate Octavia on 97000 miles and it be rude not to get a Carly odm scanner to make sure Olivia is running tip top looking forward to the next vid 😁
I think you should make it a VIP type build. Would be so cool
Alex when I saw what you bought I nearly died laughing, I've been contemplating getting one of these myself but hell that would be a bottomless pit of repairs😂😂😂
Almost a grand for an ignition coil from dealers, imagine if you need to change all 12😬😬
💰 endless bags of 💰
@@Dalbayob69 not how the coils work, there’s only 4 coils each one does 6 plugs so only 4k instead of 12k

@@emootikoah8156 the downfalls of buying a car that was over 100k new
My Father has one of these, drove it from Middlesbrough (up north) to Stansted airport (work) and back everyday, great car remember it well, ultimately failed on air suspension modules, sensors and the rest. Had around 350k on the clock by the end
I drove my 2001 W220 S600 for a good 3-4 years before everything started falling to bits, and ultimately scrapping it (even with only 65,000 miles!). The rust is absolutely awful on the early W220 models, another invasion of Kuwait is needed for the fuel efficiency, and any mechanical work completed outside of what you can do at home requires a second mortgage (mainly suspension)! However, the shear power and torque of the thing, coupled with the ride is wonderful - it's basically like driving a mattress down the road. Not to mention the cool internal features. I look forward to hearing the awesome V12 with a new exhaust, something I really wanted to do on mine!
The quick update on the builds is a great addition to the video, i wish more car channels did the same thing. Great job on the channel Alex, it gets better and better with each video 👍🏻
You need to make equal length headers for the V12, costly but the sound is worth it!
Effspot styleeee
OMG you absolute nutter! i`m going more fault codes than you can count? bearings shot all round incl prop shaft? and portable fuel station needed! other than that......me feels a drag race coming up? brings a smile every vid you do keep em coming ...cheers!
Omg PART TWOO enjoyed this video so much wanna see how how this project goes ☀️🥳
This is such a gem. Love the sound of these things 🤟

Great video alex, would love to see you do a grand tour with one of these to the famous chippy in Anstruther, Scotland. Would be a good way to see how the mpg is & if it can make it
Love from Canada!!! Love your videos! Keep up the great work!
Once you get it all sorted out you should do a London to Glasgow run and see what it is really like on fuel and if your taking off the limiter you should go on the Autobahn and see if it will do 178mph
You guys should do what effspot did and get an exhaust fitted that makes it sound like an F1 car (but for a lot less than $12,000 though lol).
Bet the bloke on the last vid could make one
The engine in this car sounds like garbage compared to the m120 on the old S600.
Love your videos since years! If you guys when speak about pound feet of torque and miles per hour can show newton meters and kilometers per hour respectively, would be great!
Cheers from Bulgaria
Happy new year🥳
Awsome car and video😎🔥👌
I would be so invested if you went around Western Europe with this car, and trying all the country's chocolate milk. As an also avid, chocolate drinker, I would feel like you would share the same passion and would compare them all! Nothing like chocolate with a V12 engine.
very nice, but some content related to working on cars instead of buying them would be even nicer.
Some nice wheels, a good wash and a polish (including the headlights) and it'll definitely look baller!
Happy New Year Alex. Any news on your Jag Project. I am rooting for you to smash DriveTribe
I read that you can get a custom manifold and make these sound like an F1 car. Do it!
Its 12k
Would be nice to see you actually do some work on these cars yourself alongside Gareth, we miss him 😢, nice restoration would be nice now rather than destroying every car you own 😂
We need some big trips in the fleet.
S600 to Sicily and back or somewhere equally ridiculous would be an epic watch
Hey Alex! Love your vids 🤩 Can you please use metric measurments on torque and speed in the subtitles? Just like Doug Demuro 😂 Greetings from Norway 🇳🇴⭐️
Please start showing us some more work on the cars you already have. I want to see continued work rather than a new project every video
Alex, Go to a official Mercedes dealership for an appraisal to fix all the problems and do a health check. Would be cool to see I think
I just bought a w210 E series, 1996. Can confirm, even if you get a deal, plan on an extra 2k-3k in baseline repairs and maintenance! But worth it. They don't make cars like these anymore and that's a damn shame!
I always forget cooled front seats _weren’t_ standard in certain markets…like the UK. It’s hard to say an S600 is “low” spec but … this is essentially what a standard equipment S600 was in the UK with the addition of keyless go. Still a *very* lovely car, don’t get me wrong! I see it has tray tables, that is nice.
Alex, 16 minutes of video where 1/5 is an add, we need so much more content from you 🙈
Can’t make content if he doesn’t have any money
Definitely want to see an MPG challenge 🤣 but top speed run etc will be fun
It's probably going to need refuelling mid Top Speed Challenge 😂😂
@@markwalton8644 Yep, while still accelerating. 🤣
Hi Alex, really like to see you demist the headlights, simples.....
Nice winterbeater man, keep up the good work!
Always wondered how good are these old luxury cars, guess I'm gonna find out thanks to you Alex
They don't cost too much if you never drive them. LoL
Good isn't exactly a word one would use to describe them.
How do the headlights on such a luxury car get so buggered so quickly? My w211 are still like new, the s class lights of this era are, invariably, fogged.
UV fogs the plastic lens, it's easily polished out, my E55 is 22 years old and has over a quarter million miles on it, headlights still look like new, was probably garaged.
How about a lpg conversion with lap times, dyno and full tank distance before and after
Oh boy, these early W220s with the NA V12 are a handful of the Maintenon side 😂
The tray tables is a very rare option though. My father ordered his with them and when he got rid of the car was told it was one of the rarest options.
The seats are actually heated and cooled. It will show a blue or red led, blue being cold and red is well, you fill it in ;)
I kinda miss my old 2005 S-Class when seeing this, but when he starts listing the usual problems they tend to get later on - I'm glad I sold it at a top 😅
And I Love Yours, Taylor’s and Rory’s work Bro, keep up the Great work up and coming for 2023!🙌🏿🙏🏿👏🏿⭐️🌟💫✨❤️
For loudness straight pipe and decat. Delimiter? excellent!!
Definitely do a lap round the 'Ring with that thing! Before and after fixes perhaps. But first...what would Taylor say about that!?
Full maintenance - plugs, intake manifold gasket, pcv, etc...then new airbox, exhaust, intercooler pump, ECU/TCU tune :D
Ive just yesterday saw this car here in Croatia on the way to the south of the country. Nice to see it going strong.
Wide body kit, bolt on arches are needed
Get the lowering links in it, cheap and easy to do for air ride 😊
I like to drive my W220 often in the "off-road"/raised position.I like to sit high, and the car kind of feels bigger and more luxurious in that way.
This car will be very interesting! I remember hearing somewhere that the "most expensive Mercedes is a cheap Mercedes". I think a youtuber called 'Number 27' bought the 5L V8 version for 900 quid and when he took it to the main dealer it came to 5 grand odd to fix, which he said was amazing.
I am glad the seat goes forward
💣💥 Sidepipes!!! 💥💣

Could you track it I wonder, firm up the suspension etc, see how it does after 2/5/10 laps, see what disasters occur (boil brake fluid, warp brake discs, any small fires start in the engine bay).
I want to see you do a basic service.

Alex, would be great to see some work on some cars, we do enjoy the hands on content when you're doing a bit to them
Hey Alex!! We're almost reaching 500k subs and will be there soon.. Firstly Congratulations for that 🎉.. So as a special, since you love trying out unique stuff and we love watching them, how about a W8 engine Passat for your next unique project or as an addition to your garage?
Hi Autoalex, nice car review by the way. For modifying the car, could you try to update its entertainment system adding apple carplay, making your own version of headsup display, also tryfitting front and rear dash cams with a link to an decent entertainment screen which you might get when installing applecarplay, that way you can get camera pictures in the car. Also make sure you upgrade its headlights bulbs to xeon or something. Basically just giving a challenge to see, what budget luxur friendly kit you can install to make the car to have similar features to a new sclass. Most car revies focus on improving performance, wanted to see if you can add some more budget luxury fit options instead. If the car doesn't have heated front windscreen is there a cheap way to manually install that. Also if you get some cheap old ipads, you can add entertainment on the backside of the front passenger and driver seats.
Really excited to see more on this as every now and then I consider going out and buying a cheap old luxury car
It's gone be costing a bit to fix everything but when it drives like a cloud the wood work on the s600 handles lights etc and tables in the back are really rare and verry valuable but sadly to see it misses the rear fridge u can retro fit it maybe, give the abc a oil change and filter change soon lots of people forget it and it clugs up then I daily drive a s500 w220 for 100,000 km in a year with 20 years old and own a s55 witch I restored with my dad as weekend car lovely cars and the abc really is expensive when it goes bad but drives like a dream and changes ride hide for more grip etc when driving faster and in corners separately on every wheel hopefully my next car is gone be a s600 to soon or a cl600 lovely cars as well also with the first aid kit don't pull on the lidd but on the plastic after u pulled the lid im surprised the car hasn't got heated and cooled seats even my s500 has those and the lovely massage function
I you are already talking about exhaust and sound then there is only one thing that is a MUST - headers!
