So where does this one rank on your list of Nightwish favorites? Clearly it's a bit different when it comes to vocals - or lack their of. But I enjoyed just focusing on the sound! The combination of instruments never fails to amaze me with this band..

NightWish Army Wisconsin Chapter here. NightWish at their PUREST form. NO band can give such Celtic vibes as NightWish does. Floor, was performing a costume change, but I am sure she was listening and bobbing her head 😂. Great reaction!

Floor's changing song, went from Xena warrior to Valkyrie Queen. Troy showing off one of the many instruments he is a master at. Troy and Floor weren't members of the band as of yet. Metalheads dancing to a Celtic jig.
"Uilleann" is Irish for Elbow - Troy is pumping up the bag using his right elbow. The man is a genius: Pipes, many sizes of whistle, fingerstyle acoustic and picked electric guitars, and he also sings.
I never tire of watching Emppu's antics on stage.
Yeah, Troy and Emmpu have great chemistry and it shows when they play together.
From #Floorgasm to #Floorgasm, Nightwish never ceases to amaze me... this concert was my introduction to the vast library they have, from 1996 up until the current song they dropped the other day "Perfume Of The Timeless" (can't wait for Yesterwynde). Not a day goes by that I don't listen to at least 1 Nightwish track, it's how I start & end my days! My favorite is 7 Days To The Wolves (from Wembley)... we need a worldwide #Nightwish day!
Great reaction! This was a mid-set instrumental with Floor backstage changing outfits. When you do the next song, Bless the Child, you will notice that Floor dashes out and grabs the mic and starts singing. They had a problem with the zipper on her top and she almost didn't make it out on stage in time. If you look under her left arm you can see that the zipper isn't all the way up. It wasn't fixed until her break during Ghost Love Score.
The song is a tribute to Finland's beautiful lakes and forests that make up it's wilderness. There is a lyrical version, Erämaan Viimeinen, sung in Finnish by Jonsu, the female lead singer of the Finnish band Indica. It is one of a small number of Nightwish songs in Finnish. The lyric version was released as a single after the instrumental was released as part of Dark Passion Play. I find the Finnish language to be very beautiful and even more so in this song. One thing of interest is that the kind of music box sounding/harp like sound before Troy comes in with his tin whistle is called a kantele and is a traditional Finnish plucked string folk instrument.

Hey Nikki, had to throw a first time comment on this one. My wife and I absolutely love this song. My favorite part is all of the emotions it makes me feel. When a song makes you feel things, it takes it to a whole nother level. Love the reactions!!

This time Floor opens for Metallica - at Floor's second solo tour Metallica opens for Floor😂. Floor almost came on stage too late after this song, as there were problems with her zipper when changing costumes. I love this song and play it a lot when I get tired and still have some work to do.
Eramaan Viimeinen is the same song , with a few minor differences, as Last of the Wilds with Finnish lyrics and sung by Jonsu from Indica.
Yes, Troy is playing Uilleann pipes, and then a tin whistle. He was playing the Irish Low Whistle, the larger one, in the last song. He can play just about anything. He was once asked if there was anything he couldn't play as well as he would like. His answer was 'Ice Hockey'.
Others have mentioned that Floor was changing outfits here. That didn't go smoothly thanks to a stubborn zipper. Floor is almost late for the next song, Bless The Child. Watch closely ,when you get to that, at the start and you will see her grab for the mic and miss it, then grab it just in time.
I would love it if one day Floor would learn the lyrics to Eramaan Viimeinen and sing it with the band. Maybe it's a "pipe-dream" (Sorry, couldn't resist) but I would really love it as I love, love LOVE that version.

The pipes are Irish bagpipes, they’re not blown up they have a bellows that he pumps up under his arm, the other difference is that they don’t have drone notes.
Interesting change to hear them play an instrumental, it gives you a better sense of their musical talent.

This is awesome instrumental version of the song "Erämaan viimeinen" which is an oldie from their first album having lyrics too in Finnish and sung by Jonsu (featuring). Maybe you know that they have done most of their music, albums, material, shows etc without Floor so there is really huge material available.
I remember reading about a small waldrobe melfunction Floor had and she changed a bit. It may of been during this. Sweet tune love a good Instrumental. Thank you young lady.

How could anyone not be into Nightwish. I'd have to check the set list, however I'm betting the next song is a vocally challenging one, so I bet they placed this song in the middle to give her a little break before Ghost Love Score or something.

Floor was changing coths, but something was going wrong. Thats why you see her running to mic next song, later on adjusting the zipper.

Just FYI, there is a version of this song that HAS vocals that are sung in Finnish. The vocals are sung a by a visiting singer, Jonsu from the band Indica, and the song is called "Erämaan viimeinen", which is basically just "Last of the Wilds" translated to Finnish.

that slow part with the tin whistle is one of my favorite musical moments... ever. it makes you feel like you're in an enchanted forest amongst the fairies and unicorns surrounded by old-growth forest, and a setting sun in the distance... :)
It's a song that does have lyrics but the instrumental is solid enough to stand on its own. They played this when Floor had I think a broken zip and changed clothes.
This is a great folk-metal instrumental track. I highly recommend the Nightwish cover of "Over The Hills and Far Away" and "Creek Mary's Blood" for more Folk music elements.

That's one of my favorites. I detest droning bagpipes (a friend hired a Scottish band to "serenade" me outside my tent at a race one time just because he had to, but I love the Uilleann pipes. Thanks for doing it!

this instrumental is so good love the welsh ullean pipe that troy knows how to play quite well and he said i took him a while to learn it such cool melodies down to earth celebrate life such smooth and effortless transitions between sounds even if they be vocals sounds so good

You know that sometimes (like in this song) they calm things down so that when they bring the instruments back in they have more of an impact? By having one song without Floor she should have a bigger impact when she comes back for the next song!
