It's sad that half of the available wallpaper-plugins are not working on recent versions of Plasma.
KDE doesn't filter plugins by version like gnome extensions do, so they will just sit there broken and available until eternity.

True. Also, I remember being not a huge fan (or frankly a bit annoyed :) ) by scaling of screen captured clips where it was enlarged too much, or scaling algorithm was not the best, or I don't know what was the reason but the end result was too blurry. I was constantly checking that YT gear icon in lower right if my Internet connection worsened (that never happens basically) so YT automatically lowered the video resolution.
But with new camera the video of Nicco improved A LOT also. GJ!

Wow! I stopped watching your videos for a few months and your visuals have improved so much! I love the background you have set up and the transitions, and I feel like you looks better as well! A huge improvement! Also the structure of the content feels more concise (although that may just be a consequence of the improved) and I like the background music! Considering how much the content has improved, I can't believe you don't have way more likes!

Konsave is amazing. I use it to back up all my dotfiles and sync between computers. To answer the question, no it doesn't restart the shell. You must log out and back in after loading a profile.

Do you have a list of themes that work natively on Qt instead of relying on Kvantum? The latter is incompatible with KDE's color themes
I think you can do a lot with QtQuick and this one supports the color themes. Though, because of how they only apply to QtWidgets apps, all the Kirigami ones don't get themed and they look like breeze anyway. At least for me, I use either Breeze or Klassy, which is meant to mimick Breeze very closely but still allows a degree of customization
The major blocker for configuring plasma for myself is window decorations on wayland, I can't use anything other than default, because fonts scaling is kinda broken :(

I know you made a bit of a dig at bad eyesight, but that on-screen magnifier is REALLY useful. Trying to see what that tiny character-sized symbol or emoticon is at my age is not so easy! I've set it to the size I want and also set CTRL+7, 8 and 9 to decrease, toggle and increase magnification, respectively. Set my mate's machine up the same & he also really appreciates it!
Also, looks like you have Wobbly Windows active, my all-time favourite! It's one of the first things I enabled when I switched to Plasma (about 6 years ago).
I customized my KDE to look like a hybrid of SteamOS 3, macOS and GNOME. Best of all worlds. Love KDE and love all the hard work devs put into it.

Okay, so the shaders background is pretty cool and reminds me of a screensaver from windows plus pack ... 98 IIRC, that my Voodoo Banshee could barely run at 10fps, though I'll probably stick with plain black background (non-distracting and doesn't interfere with widgets)

Seriously tho? Saving/Exporting configuration should be a thing. We should be able to basically make a "Global Styles" entry that has all the plasma, desktop icons, plasmoid configs, and the whole nine with the click of a few buttons from within the Appearance KCM. Honestly.

Just discover this. Thanks for sharing this content. I am in KDE (slackware current) , KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0, Qt Version: 5.15.8. I observed some of your recommendations must be loaded externally but KDE Store seems to be outdated, (versions not well numbered and organized ) and after downloaded do not behave as shown in your video, so your good advice is useless in some cases. Thanks anyway. I just use breeze and default themes seemed to be better supported out of the box.
Is there any plan to implement smart hide and with some sort of animation for plasma panels? Right now if you use windows above it the panel literally stays there all the time and when you hover over that area it just appears with no animation

It seems like there should be a feature to indicate that an application style is a compiled one and has better performance
anybody have any colour theme suggestions to lay on top of breeze with alphablack and or maia transparent? i usually use gruvbox but it doesn't look too great with these.
One thing that always puts me off KDE is I can't for the life of me work out how to re-arrange app icons on the panel, right now I have 5 Brave icons and two settings icons and I can't work out how to get rid of them. I hope this video helps lol.
meta+x - that is my shortcut for the new overview. It's easier to reach and use, but I still miss that I can't just use meta (like on Gnome) for it.
On a note of shortcuts, currently, I have meta assigned to dashboard on the latte dock. It works, but I can't set it for any other/new start widget. It is as if at some point, assigning meta as a trigger was possible, but then removed, but it's still saved somewhere in configs and works.
It would be awesome if Plasma allowed for some alone meta assignments, like for: start, overview, grid view, activities. It could create awesome workflows.
If I don't remember it wrong Meta + F3 can be used for binding meta. You assign it with F3 but just press meta. Then it just works. Could be Alt + F3 too not sure. Give it a try.
@@AlperShal Someone claimed meta+F1 and it didn't work. I tried with meta+F3, and it didn't make any change either. Meta is still opening my dashboard. I tried various tricks and all I could do is to restore the configs to restore the one meta binding that I have.

Inactive blur isn't working for me... installed -git and I can see it, but it seems broken! How did you install that?
For overview, we should use 1. Mouse Gesture (click, draw \ line from bottom right to top left) on X11 or 2. Screen corner
Wallpaper Inactive blur don't work for me either. Seems to not work in plasma 5.26 and 5.27, and perhaps some older versions too

I wish to use the interface in 1024x768 and 720p but those empty margins are horrible at that resolution.
The plasma config saver kinda works. When a load a saved config. my screen blacks out. Then I do a hard restart and the configuration loads! Plasma version: 5.27.(something)

Hi Niccolo. I am wondering if it's possible to customize the structure of kde settings ( So, with rounded tab and categories). May I customize QML files? Is there a different and more efficient way to to that?

as a kde developper you should ask KDE to embed a config saver of their own.

Hi Guys - I am using Solus Plasma - a few months in and shutdown has stopped working - session closes then it just hangs and dell logo pops up - i have to manually press and hold power for 5 secs - any help appreciated from the Linux fam !
Why am I struggling to get two rows taskbar in KDE? I have played with KDE using a different Linux distro and it was easy to setup the 2 rows taskbar but not in the other Linux distro even though I have tried switching to many different themes. I don't get it?

I just want an option to change that semi-colon kde icon. Logos should be visible. Use something that is at least 75 percent solid and not use so much dead space. even the old "K-gear" is better than that semi-invisible shit you currently use.
Is there a config that allow to have taksbars in multiple monitors setup automatically like gnome?
Not sure what you mean by "automatically". Taskbar (I assume you mean Task Manager) itself is just a widget on a panel and there're can be several implementation of task manager widgets. And since different monitors have different panels (that can have different set of widgets of different kind/implementation) my guess would be that you just want automatically to copy panels from the main monitor to all the others when they're connected. And for that I don't remember seeing such option/function.
How can I set my Meta key to run krunner instead of active application menu? I searched for a solution for like an hour, tried editing kwinrc and it's still not working for me. PS thank you so much again for your work with floating panel it changed my quality of life (I finally can use very small expandable dock like panel in just right corner of the screen as I always wanted and it doesn't look ugly, it looks very good)
I could paste you a couple of links for rebind meta key to Krunner, and revert this behavior, but for for some reason i don't know, youtube automatically delete my answer.. (tried 3 times)
@Lyk D'Nine Tried to directly give you the commands to type in terminal. Tried to trick the urls. Everythig I do, youtube delete my comm right away afer I wrote and submit it. It's like a youtube robot parse and delete my comm because something bothers him...
I guess the censor system of youtube is so f......g broken. But it could be something else. Sorry :(
@@brunometronome1189 I got to your comment anyway cause when you wrote it I got notification and I just opened notification log, youtube censorship is getting worse and worse. Thank you for your help it solved my problem!
You have to add ModifierOnlyShortcuts group in kwinrc file you can do this by using kwriteconfig5 command and in this group bind Meta to path of organisation of kde that created krunner followed by comma and slash then you have to call App followed by two commas and command to toggleDisplay thanks again!

It's been 7 months so maybe not for you, but for other people snooping in comments, install "active blur" instead.

@@niccoloveslinux For me it didn't work in 5.26 either. Would be awesome if it was included in the official plasma desktop, even if not enabled by default. The version of inactive blur from KDE store is old and incompatible with new versions of plasma 😢 and since my distro is arch based I run the latest KDE/Plasma version.

lmao. Of course, if the app is going to crash and not work any more, it's going to be on something like NSFW wallpaper. You must have my luck.
I like to think the plugin creator made it crash on purpose if you use NSFW images. But seriously, Plasma plugins are really unstable for some reason. If GNOME is unusable without plugins, Plasma is with them.
